Wow Pup that is fantastic, well done you!

ood luck at the baby shower B, you can do it.

Lisa, what a lovely idea to 'spoil' your DH, I am sure he will be thrilled and you will have a lovely break too.

Well my half a pound was still there this morning. I was a bit cross with myself as I think it was too much dairy yesterday.

I have done better today. We went out for lunch and I ordered ham hock terrine followed by salmon. Drank diet coke. Then we went to the cinema to see Men Who Stare at Goats. Okay but not great.

Home to a pile of ironing, done now. Sitting down now and picking at some egg mayo with chilli sauce. Drinking water.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Hang in there, clutterbug. Weekends are very tough for me, too. Bunch of skinny butts snackin' on all kinds of former yummys!

I'm actually more afraid of Thanksgiving weekend!!! (sigh) I will need to be EXTRA careful with lots of lovely LC snackies around...

Great job, B! Getting ready to go to the movies...afraid of the popcorn and candy so I'm bring an Atkins bar. I will get through it, right?!

I'm with you, Squadleader. I'm kind of terrified of Thanksgiving week. My whole family is going to the mountains for the week and that is usually a crazy food frenzy. I'm already planning all the different foods I need to bring to make it less crazy for myself. As we get closer to that date, I may ask you ladies for some advice!

Hi ladies! I would love to join. Am finishing day 4 on induction today. Have lost 3.2lbs so far (water). A little bio: always was about 120, traveled Europe for 10+ months in 03-04' & came home 175. Could never get below 150 since then (until now). I'm finally ready! Got married, crept up to 163, got pregnant and tipped the scales at 210. Son is now 18 months today. I got where I am now (actually got to 139) by turbo jam, chalean extreme & weight watchers. I was eating like crap still because you can on WW. Just wasn't feeling good. My blood type is O, and we're the meat eaters who can't have much carbs (esp wheat, breads, rice, etc). I bloat for hrs if I do. After a few family deaths in Oct., I decided Nov 4th to take charge. My bf% is 31!!! So I started at 145.8...gained that from my WW relapse. Sure it was nice eating what tasted good and what I wanted, but I want to feel good too! Going to in-laws in Oregon for Thanksgiving & my father-in-law is on atkins. Lost 45+lbs so far. So should be easy eating at their house! Excited to join you all! Today sugar cravings aren't as bad...but I am eating a ton more than you all it seems! Hmmmm...might have to work on that...
~Mica

Edited to add that my husband just made funnel cake and is devouring it in front of me. Had buttered toast last night too in front of me. And potato chips! I keep talking to myself out loud telling myself I am strong and mind over matter! Resisting the candy bowl at work too...which I've been eating out of for a year! I can't believe I've gone this long without sugar or junk food. Yay!

If I could just get down 1 size, I'd be okay as I have lots of stuff to wear down there. *fingers crossed*

And as to the eating candy and stuff with kids around, it is SO hard sometimes. Yesterday and today, though, I've noticed that I don't even really want the stuff that's around. I made a chocolate pudding for everyone last night and didn't lick the spoon or anything. The very idea of losing weight is much more appealing to me at this point. So in that sense, it is VERY much mental. But I also highly recommend having a few induction friendly treats around that you can indulge in, if need be. Like pup said, just buy some of the candy bar type Atkins bars or something like that. I also keep a cold can of zero carb soda in the fridge (just one!) to conquer a sweets craving quickly and easily. It feels very indulgent to me and keeps me on plan. Don't have to do it very often, but when I do, I'm always grateful I had one around. Better to have an Atkins bar or a diet soda than sugary candy, right?

I just keep telling myself that Induction is only for a short time. Soon enough I can make some of my favorite yummy low carb sweets that have nuts and other higher-up-the-ladder stuff. And I will enjoy it that much more because I've earned it and it's on plan. And I'll be smaller which makes any deprivation a whole lot easier to deal with for a short time!

I know we all have portion control issues, so just keeping one serving of something around that could be a trigger and even that in an inconvenient place is super important, too.

We can do it. We are strong and capable women.
Good for you! I'm feeding my son stuff all the time, which I would normally partake in, but resisting now!
You can have atkins bars on induction? I don't have the book, just going off what I read online and seems really strict. What helps my sugar cravings are vitamin waters that Costco sells (their Kirkland brand) which have 0 cals, 0 carbs, 0 sodium, 0 sugar...0 everything! AND THEY ACTUALLY TASTE GOOD! No high fructose corn syrup, aspartame, etc. Those kick a sweet craving and give us vitamins. Plus h20!

AKmama!

Welcome to Atkins Induction wonderland, it is a tough school but so worth it.

You have done so well on WW and your exercise regime but good, real foods are the thing to aim for, along with the weight control.

Love that your FIL has lost 45 lbs on Atkins, what an inspiration. Does he have the book? Maybe you could borrow it or find it a thrift store? It is very helpful to read it, I refer to it often even though I have been a fan from the start in the 70's.

Last night I ate too much egg mayo, though my carbs were still under 20. Must not eat for the sake of it! My punishment is still holding on to that half pound.

Not to worry, today is another day. My FIL, who is 93, drove over to us for lunch today and I cooked a pork roast with all the trimmings for him. Have to say that my 'crackling' was to die for, thank the lord I am not on a Low Fat regime!

I ate 3 slices along with a broccoli and cauliflower puree. Almost went for the 4th slice but stopped just in time, I was not hungry. Then I had the lime/lemon cheesecake I prepared a couple of days ago. I sprinkle crushed chocolate chip cookies on top of theirs in the end, great.

Hope all of you are managing with all life's temptations, we can do this.

Hi All

I'm Cindy (Kissa's) daughter; I live in Oman (Salalah - on the indian ocean - not a bad place to be). I have had great success with Atkins in the past - but then started not to follow it - so I tried Intuitive Eating for a while - in fact it worked really well and I lost 28lbs in a relatively short time - then I managed to hold it off for a while - but recently (since the middle of August) I have gained and not really eaten intuitively - I was on holiday and since I've been back, I've started a new job.

I may not stay with Atkins forever - but it is a great way to get rid of the weight that I have gained!!!

Food here isn't that great for Atkins - so I'm going to be eating a lot of chicken, eggs, mince, cheese - and a little salad (whatever I can find!!) Certainly no chance of getting any Atkins products - not a bad thing!!!

Wow! Busy morning here, huh?

Welcome to Mica and Vicky! So glad you both are here. Mica...I'm from Ketchikan but haven't lived there since I graduated from high school 14 years ago. My mom still lives there and I visit every 3 years or so. And Vicky, in Oman, that is so interesting! Do you enjoy it there? I wish you both so much success with this WOE.

I just had a great grilled sandwich with cheese and pastrami. It was delicious! I used your ideas, Cindy, for the flax muffin. I added onion powder and parmesan. So wonderful! Tasted like a Monte Cristo/Croque-Monsieur.

I've taken the weekend off from counting/FitDay, but I'm pretty sure I'm on track with my eating. Only problem is my veggies are far less on the weekend.

So just swimming right along over here. Hope your weekends were uneventful, eating-wise.

Glad the "bread" worked out well for your grilled sandwich. Don't worry about the veggies being low now and again, in the 72 book they were much lower anyway. I am sure you will get in healthy portions over the next few days.

Thanks Kissa! Yes, I'm sure he does...I think I saw it on the bookshelf. He lost 100+lbs on atkins 5 yrs ago for my SIL's wedding, but gained it back. He's about 325lbs now and taking it a bit slower and less extreme. For health and the long term instead of an event! I'm going to be out your way (sort of) at the turn of the year for 3 months in Portugal. I attended massage school there almost 6 years ago and am going back to be the assistant. Can't wait!

Squadleader~ Glad to be here & glad I'm not the only one with tempting carbs in the house! Just trying to stay strong. I'm actually not even craving them at this point! Day 5 & appetite decreasing. Almost 4lbs down!

Clutterbug~ I was born in Ketchikan! Then my family moved to Juneau shortly after I was born...so grew up here. Still around! Where did you move away to? We've been thinking about a move. Tired of the rain & snow! My DH is from NM so a big change for him. We'll be here at least two more years though. I'm ready for a change!

Off to eat a couple hard boiled eggs. =)
Have a good night everyone and Monday tomorrow!

Wow, AK, NM to Alaska, now that is a change!!!

I visited Alaska 4 years ago, we stayed in Anchorage did train and plane journeys all over the place. It was in September and they were turning the lights off as we left each place!

I trained as a massuese once in the dim and distant past, don't do it now though. 3 months in Portugal has to be good.

Got rid of that horrid half pound at last. Great feeling.

Oh how I envy all of you living all over...this MD born girl has NEVER been off the east coast I DREAM of visiting England..my fathers family is named 'Bromley' and Engish ancestry. I have always been fascinated with all the history and enjoy reading historical fiction(Philippa Gregory novels are terrific) about the reign of the Tudor family. I think I was an English princess in a former life ...DH teases me and says you wouldn't have liked to live then...you wouldve been a peasant not royalty...what a meanie!!! Hey AKmama....I was born in SE AK, moved to Nevada as a child, and moved back to Ketchikan when I was 13 or so. I totally understand the climate differences from totally wet to totally dry. But because I remembered all the rain as a child, I missed it when I lived in NV, so I had an advantage over your DH. I love the rain! Still do. My DH thinks its too rainy here in Ohio, so he'll never move back to Ktn. with me. I came to college in Ohio, married a Chicago boy, lived in Chicago for 5 years and settled in Ohio again a while back.

This sounds like me. I'm a bit of an "anglophile" myself

And to our local Englishwoman, congrats on the loss! I'm sure the 130's will be brilliant for you this time around!

I'm holding onto my 5 lb. loss right now. How's everyone else this morning?

Yes he's ready for more heat! Sept is usually end of tourist season. =)
Portugal is absolutely lovely! I've been back twice. Perfect winter weather. It's a hubby & wife couple who teach there & Vermont. The DH is British. They're in England now. Congrats on getting rid of that last half pound! WTG! Bet that felt good. =)

Clutterbug~ Ketchikan is a lively little town...does he ever go with you to visit? Good job holding onto your 5lb loss!

Srappychik~ Oh temptations...think of it as practice skipping on during the holidays! I had a fling with an English Bromley while in Portugal. Perhaps a distant relative! He's from there...I met his "mum" as well. Beautiful lady...she let me and some other travelers stay in her holiday flat. Get out there a do it girl! Once you start, it's addicting. =)

I'm down 4.8lbs in 5 days! DH just set down a big bowl of homemade smoked salmon dip...going to munch and watch dancing with the stars!

4.8 pounds in 5 days! Salmon dip...yummy!

I see that you are another one of similar height and goals as Lisa and me. Though we have owned up to probably being 5' 3.5" inches in truth!

Weight is holding steay, I'll take that.

Started the day with 4 small bacon rashers and a decaff with cream.

I'm down 4.8lbs in 5 days! DH just set down a big bowl of homemade smoked salmon dip...going to munch and watch dancing with the stars!
Do we have a weekly weigh-in day?
Yes, he has visited several times. Both summer and winter. He likes it there, just HATES rain! There's no hope!

I would give my left foot for big bowl of homemade smoked salmon dip. Yum!

And as to weekly weigh-ins, we've just been reporting losses as they occur.

I guess I'm the giantess of the group at 5'9. My goal weight is more than you ladies' start weights! I'm ok with that. The last time I was 120 was probably when I was 12! I'm tall and big boned. I've learned to accept it! My guess is I'd be skeletal at 150, but I wouldn't know because I've never been there in my adult life. I guess we'll see, now won't we?

Portugal is absolutely lovely! I've been back twice. Perfect winter weather. It's a hubby & wife couple who teach there & Vermont. The DH is British. They're in England now. Congrats on getting rid of that last half pound! WTG! Bet that felt good. =)

Clutterbug~ Oh my how lucky you are to be tall...and your goal SHOULD be above ours.. I think the height/weight charts say 5 pounds for every inch. So you're allowed at least 25 pounds more than us. Plus most people just get to a weight and adjust goal accordingly. There are people on this board who are my height and weigh in the low 100s. I thought I looked pretty good at 135...totally a personal decision. Just keep working your plan and you'll know when you get there

Scale is still staying the same, but in the middle of TOM I am ok with it. Hoping to see a smidge of movement by end of week though 1 pound per week would be GREAT! Still have work to do, but i'll try to keep checking in to see what everyone else is up to

Hi Ladies!
I'm joining in!! I "started" induction last Monday but cheated the entire way through In Louisiana we are big Football fans so I had wine several time and a small piece of birthday cake on Sunday. I still lost 3 lbs but wonder about the lbs I sabitoged! I "restarted" my Induction yesterday (Monday). Today I had:

2 eggs
1 piece of cheese
1 low carb slim fast shake (2 net carbs)
and for lunch I will be having fish and salad with blue cheese.

What is the major deal about caffiene on atkins? I LOVE coffee and have 2 cups every morning. I don't think this is something that I can sacrifice. I did atkins once before and still dranks coffee and lost 15lbs during Induction. Any advice??

Hi, linaobourg...good for you for picking up the pace on your Induction. There's something about a good, clean Induction that is cleansing both mentally and bodily. I'm a football fan, too, and use game days as a chance to work on new, yummy low carb appetizers. So many of the standard ones are low carb already, like buffalo wings. As for the drinking, just try to find something that still feels special to you but is zero carb. Remember, it's only for a short time that you have to give it up.

As for the caffeine, I think it's optional. There are a LOT of people who don't/won't give it up. You can still lose, but if you find yourself hungry all the time, it might be the caffeine spiking your blood sugar. It affects different bodies differently. There may come a time when you really need/want to drop it, but for now I would say it's okay. Just know you're not doing a by-the-book Induction. For the record, I still drink my coffee, too.

Coffee seems to effect some people and not others - if you can have it - I say, go for it!!
