I suppose you could use the eggs or egg beaters, and either tofu or cream cheese. Leave out the protein powder, unless you have an unflavored one. On the other hand, spinach is fairly bland, and if you are going to add fruit, maybe a vanilla protein powder would be ok
Oooh I forgot about All Whites - like Egg Beaters but whites only. It's pasteurized (I'm not sure I can convince myself to eat raw eggs) and they always put a shake recipe on the carton. That would probably give it a good consistency. Silken tofu makes nice smoothies as well, though I'm kinda eh about eating soy from week to week.

That's a good idea too. I haven't made any yocheese in a long time, but I know I can get some at Trader Joe's and it has the carb count. Yummy!!

I am sure you could adjust it to what you have available to you. Like fage/ LC yogurt instead of cottage cheese. Hope this helps you
That sounds yummy. I need to grab some strawberries since they are notoriously low carb as berries go. I haven't done protein powder in a LONG time, and I'm kind of over the whole artificial sweetener thing. Are the unflavored ones decent?

Quiet in here tonight....

Riot how did your first day of low calorie go? Did you feel more in control?

Cravings for me were way more under control today. Here's hoping for another good day tomorrow.

haha, I was just coming to post my smashing success! I haven't been hungry or felt deprived all day. I spaced my meals/ snacks about 2 hours apart today and it worked well I actually still have my creamsicle left to eat. Dinner was GRAND. My whole plate was full, granted it was mostly veggies, but I love veggies. I had those steamer thingies, it was broccoli, cauli, and carrots in those bags you just throw in the microwave & steam. 2 broiled tilapia filets, and about 1/2 cup rice. Since today was so successful I think I'm gonna stick with this same menu for the week.
However, I am totally banking on the "fact" that breastfeeding burns 500 calories per day. That better not be a myth.

Oh, I also walked again today, 1 mile.

cream is probably referring to heavy cream, or heaving whipping cream it's also called. Splenda is allowed, if you are doing actual Atkins Induction instead of general LC, I think it's limited to 3 servings per day. Caffeine is not allowed, I don't think, on Atkins Induction, so decaf coffee would be OK. How much you lose is all relative to what you consume, how much you exercise etc during the induction phase. Alcohol is also a no-no for Atkins Induction until OWL.
All that being said, a lot of these folks follow a general LC plan rather than strict Atkins Induction, so you may see people eating more artificial sweeteners, taking caffeine, or drinking alcohol

Anyone use coconut oil? I just used it in a stir-fry for the first time, and HOLY cow, it makes the veggies freaking craveable. For dinner, I ate nothing but a bowl of coconut oil stir-fried veggies with a little teriyaki sauce and s&p. I'd never tried it in anything "savory" before.

I just purchased some. I saw that someone used it in their coffee and I thought I would give it a try. I didnt care for it that way...but it didnt give me a belly ache.

I did use it to cook onions in prior to making Stroganoff...and I didnt care for it that way...and my husband did complain of an achy tummy after that...but Im not sure if it was the coconut oil, or if it was the xanthan gum I used as a thickener....Now that I didnt care for...I did not like the texture it left.

Thanks, I needed that!

Today is my first day back on the wagon. I'm getting ready to head out with the dog for our morning exercise. Don't know if we'll run, run intervals, or just walk, but anything is better than nothing, right? I'm going to say my weight is still 125, won't be getting on the scales for a few days. 72 oz of water after my 2 coffees for a few days I should at the very least get rid of all the water weight I've got lurking about.

Hopefully I'll be more determined this go-round. What kills me every time is the running out of steam. And I'm an "all or nothing" kind of person. If I can't get out there and run, I'll get the wrong mindset and start back eating carbs again which inevitably leads me to bingeing again. This time I've GOT to go with the flow and when I run out of steam, accept that it will eventually pass and just walk instead of feeling like I've got to be able to go full-steam.

Thanks again for the smack in the head.

'Moo

As for the religion question... we are getting married in a Lutheran church, it is the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church of America) flavor. (haha, everything has a flavor when you're dieting, right?!) The short version of the reason is this. Back in the day, women couldn't vote on church issues, so a faction of the church split off and became ELCA. They take women's stuff pretty seriously. The pastor marrying us is a woman, which is pretty neat, because they don't always allow women to be pastors in the other flavors of Lutheranism and in Catholicism and other religions. My parents changed to ELCA before I was born because my mom is very involved in church issues. My fiance's family is Catholic but he was not brought up in the church, and since I wasn't going to convert, we chose the Lutheran church. We went to a lot of them before finding this one, however, after we had already decided to do it there, they told us that the services had been changed to reflect respect for women. I guess they said its an ELCA thing now. I don't know.

In the end, I'm going to go meet with the pastor in person on Thursday and tell her that we just can't think of doing it another way. My fiance doesn't want to walk together. I don't want to walk with both of my parents (because how will I also hold the bouquet?). Plus, as Joe said, "People expect to see ONE THING when the bride comes down the aisle... a Dad holding on to her that's more nervous than she is." So... I'm going to tell them its got to be this way, and that he's accompanying me, NOT "giving me away" like a piece of property.

18 days, ladies. I'm about to freak out.

I've stayed on the diet really well, though. Last night, Joe made me filet mignon wrapped in bacon with adobo sauce over it. The adobo had about 1 carb. It was canned peppers in adobo sauce with a small amount of lime juice in the blender, mixed with siracha.

YUM.

Hello, morning, all newbies, welcome back to others! the ole thread was really hopping yesterday...now to keep that momentum!
menu todays looks the same as yesterday
The Boca burger did some gnarly things to the belly...but it is what I have that no one in my house will glutton away from me.

okay...here is the new b@tch of the day!! I made a whole chicken last night for dinner and had like 8 extra drumsticks as well...I baked all of this and it was nummy! (what little I got of it)...I hate dark meat...I cannot gag it down and would starve to death before I would be able to stomach it at all. My DH and DD love the dark meat and usually fight over the drumsticks, hence the 8 extra. So I go down stairs to do my homework, and when I come upstairs, the two have them picked every piece of white meat off the carcass...stripped it clean It's not like I got married yesterday and DH doesn't know my aversion to dark meat...especiallly on the bone...grosses me out in a big way!...just another thing to pi$$ me off!

Well, last night was kind of crazy. About 5 p.m. my legs started KILLING ME--behind my thighs. I wouldn't characterize it as "cramping," but it was severe aching. Like I could hardly get up the stairs and lift my leg in the shower to shave my legs! I was kind of freaking out about it. Do you think it's the low-potassium issue? I'm also nursing, so I'm aware I need extra nutrients. I ended up reading online that peanuts have potassium, so I ate a handful (even though it was off plan slightly) and felt better enough to sleep last night. I was afraid it would mess up the loss, but I still woke up another pound lighter, so I was okay with that. Hopefully, I won 't have anymore of that pain today!

Menu:
Breakfast: Coffee Egg Cream ---I freaking love these things.
Snack: cheese, cucumber
Lunch: Left over tuna cakes, hard boiled eggs, spinach salad OR another egg cream (not sure what I'll feel like)
Snack: Rootbeer float
Dinner: Pot Roast, green beans

Boy try to make the kids happy! I get the punishment!

They wanted popcorn, and I was strong not to have it, I only make air popped for them. I am standing there smelling the aroma of the corn popping! Girls are excited seeing in flow into the bowl! THEN one VER HOT unpopped kernal flew out and the daw gone thing went right into my shirt, and into my bra!!! Mind ya I was not standing too close but right there on guard to turn the bowl, but there it went!!!! For the life of me I could not get that corn out of my bra!!! I got up this morning got in the shower and thought....hum...what is that!!!???? I got a pop corn kernal shaped bliter on one of the "girls"!!!!! NEVER did I figure going low carb would be soooo hard!!!!! I did not even eat any of it and it still affected my body!!!! HAHAHAHAH!

Just thought I would share that!
