Doing great, still running, this week is PMS (expect TOM on Friday) and I have a sick car and a sick child, so been busy. I'm up just a tad, but am retaining water so I'm not counting it till the water goes away.

Leisa,
Good for you for running!

Went to THREE drugstores, no Ultimate Cleanse. There was that one advert. on tv and another that I can't remember the name of but cost $30! Is that right?? Saw lots of Metamucil, but I think of that as a laxative, right?? I did get magnesium, but just regular pills. So now what?

aww, sorry to hear about your PMS and what is wrong that you're daughter's sick?

I finally got my TOM on Friday (was due Monday). Weight is staying the same - usually I gain 3-4 lbs during it. So, I'm happy. My carb cravings were non-existent too!

I hope you got the capsule w/powder type that I recommended (Twin Lab).

You'll have to get it at Vitamin Shoppe - on line. It's about $30. Try not to substitue what I recommend. I know what works and there is alot that don't.

Hello everyone! Thank you for the warm wishes! Yesterday was pretty good. I was pretty hungry so I ate over the allotted calories I had given myself but I managed to stay on track with my carbs and my marcos seem pretty in line. I have been over eating for a while so its no surprise that my body is still trying to entice me to eat more than I need while I work towards getting into ketosis. The sticks are still showing negative - but it has only really been a day or so. Plus I know I have to give up on the chewing gum and the crystal light - but I have parted with my dear friend red wine so I am not going to beat myself up as I adjust to my new (old) healthy habits. I still manage to make it to the gym every day so I am hoping that will help.

I hope everyone has a great week!

Roxy,
It looks like you have lost quite a bit of weight. Were you on another diet plan before this? How tall are you?

No Twin Lab, but 500 mg-regular pills-nobody had anything else. Now what? I will try online, also DH has a catalog that he orders this type of thing from often, so will check there.

Roxy...good bye dear friend wine... I bid a fond adieu too, but you can have it back later. That's one of the reasons I love Atkins, even though as you might have read, I am losing at a snail's pace for no good reason that I can see.

Great that you go to the gym, and every day....

Hi Whitedove - I need to update my stats - I had been very successful with Atkins and managed to drop down to 135 pounds (I'm 5'6) BUT then about a year ago a bunch of life struggles and the lure of yummy baked goods derailed me. Unfortunately it has spiraled into a gain of 15 pounds.... not terrible... but not great... :/ so I am back trying to get back on track. I would love to get down as low as 125 but at this point I would just love to fit into my jeans! LOL

Atkinsgoddess - I am so sorry that you aren't getting the results that you are working so hard to achieve. It will come. Don't be too hard on yourself - the added stress will only hinder your weight loss efforts. I know for me I have to count my calories as well as carbs and right now I am eating too many to see the loss that I am hoping for (I am eating about 1450 cals per day), but I am working on cutting them back (aiming for 1200 to 1300) for a few days to "jump start" my weight loss.

Good luck! We can all do this!

I had a monster bad day (PMS crazy) and was seriously considering running for the frozen yogurt shop. We had an employee appreciation day - mexican food - but I stuck with it - ate the meat filling and a little nacho cheese. And I behaved at dinner, hamburger patties and sauteed squash.

My weight is the same but I notice some muscle movement - so the tape measure is going to have to wait. And it's TOM, so the weight's going to have to wait.

I tried a cleanse last year and didn't finish the week. Sometimes I don't have good followthrough. Thanks for the reminder, I'm going to get a kit and get it done. I have been concerned about the beef sticking in my intestines. I thought I read where rare steak can sit in there forever. I don't eat it rare - but still.

My husband had to work late tonight, so I took a break from the gym in order to get home to feed the dogs and take them to the park. One's napping and the other is sitting under the table praying for the remainder of my burger to drop on the floor.

I'm so sorry to hear that you had such a bad day... thankfully tomorrow is another day and you should be very proud of how well you handled your obstacles. Just remember we all have bad days - I know I have reached for the comfort of muffins and cookies before and well they are the very reason I am here... now trying to lose the weight I gained and to fit back in my clothes. The frozen yogurt will only add to your woes of a bad day.

I usually have more of a gain that I have too, but expect some loss once TOM hits. My daughter is ok. She has had strep throat 3 times this year and yesterday she started having a sore throat and headache again, so I took her in to see if she had it again, but it's just a virus. Thanks for asking though. I ran again tonight! It is really feeling great and can't wait to see it starting to have a real effect on my body and weight. The biggest advantage of it to this point is the mental change it has on me, particularly since pms has not been fun in recent months. Perimenopause stinks in that regard for me.

Looks like we have some struggles here, but that's how it is with our "demon". My one good thing is that I no longer have TOM to deal with (girls, you'll LOVE it!) but on the other hand, I can't use it as an excuse either...

Monkey-good for you for handling your bad day-that's a tough one.

Had low cals yesterday as I thought-was hungry when I got home from rehearsal last night, and this morning, but now it's not too bad. BUT I will sure enjoy my bkfst when I get to work.

This morning I was at 157.9 which would be ok if I hadn't weighed that 2 weeks ago, and it's taken me this long to be back. My lowest in the past 3 months is 157.3....I'm so discouraged. I will measure this weekend, but I don't feel any difference. I will probably do my Pilates today.

cals-1264-how's that???

fat-67%
carbs-4 % (tasted a chocolate egg, but other than that, the gross was 13.8)
protein-29%

B-fritatta, decaf, light cream, splenda
L-2 med. chix thighs, salad, 1T Greek dressing
S-1oz chix breast
D- shrimp cooked in ghee, fauxtatoes-boy did they taste good!

Donna,
Those are the best calories I"ve seen from you yet!

Mine were kinda high but my body needed the food yesterday.

B: 2 cheesy egg bakes
L: Tuna Casserole Quiche w/1/4 cup string beans w/ghee
D: (2) Ham and Swiss rolled ups w/mustard - 1 cup salad
Later: 1/2 lb. hamburger on Oopsie roll w/a bit of catshup/mustard, onion (felt like a big after that!)

Weight: LOST 6 oz. from all the above -

Calories: 1614
Fat: 62%
Protein: 34%
Carbs: 4% = 15 grams

Donna,
Don't you need to take Estrogen replacement? You are the 1st woman to tell me that you're glad to be out of menopause (or TOM) because of the hormone imbalance that has it's own side effects.

Without estrogen, woman age faster too - along w/health risks. Then, I hear about estrogen replacement that has a host of problems.

Then I hear about progesterone creams - so confusing

Then people like my sister in law tell me that WEIGHT LOSS is 100x harder and mood swings are worse than PMS. We turned into bonified "bitXhes"

When that time comes for me, I hope I have my facts together for an intelligent decision on what to do.

Linda,
I think that if I have to be a 1200 cals on Atkins at my height, something is wrong. I'm going to attempt the fat fast this Sunday. I have not measured again, but plan to this weekend. However, the outfit I have on today is pretty much as tight as it was before; maybe a *tiny* bit looser, but that could be stretching....

I don't take anything except vagifem, which is inserted "locally" and is very small dosage, just to help the uterine lining. And I've been told I look good...maybe it's attitude. I don't know, but I am very happy. EXCEPT FOR LOSING THIS WEIGHT!!!

I had no problems really during menopause, and I just think this is the best part of my life. Truly. I guess being older is making the loss harder; I lost over 65 pounds when I was 54-it took me about a year on WW.

I finally decided on (2) excercise DVD's.

1) Power Body: Fit to Dance with Christi Taylor
2) No More Trouble Zones by Jillian Michaels

I love to dance so the 1st one appeals to me. The 2nd one is more hard core but both got great reviews.

I have noticed that my skin in my legs are hanging off me. I need to excercise and build my muscle. I may look good in clothes but not without them.

I also bought the newest edition of Earl Mindell's Vitamin Bible. Back in the 80's I bought his book and took selected Amino Acids and Vitamins to burn fat and it worked. I wrote out a formula based on his book. I lost the book when I moved. I've also been hearing alot about L-Tyrozine-sp? (for getting rid of addictions - for me, smoking).

I also bought 2 books on Bi-Polar. One is a workbook for my future son in law and the other is a straight forward book on the disease.

Good news. He's getting out this Friday. He must return every day for 1/2 hr for consultation. We are going to visit him again this Thurs. My daughter will be home to see him this weekend. We think his mother may make him stay at home. I told my daughter to kidnap him and bring him to my house and I will cook a fabulous meal with dessert!

What or who told you that 1200 calories is for you? Do you want to be 120 lbs? 120x10 = 1200. That may make your body go into starvation mode and retain fat. Try it if that's what you intutition is telling you. I don't think that would work for me.

I am finding out that if I eat smaller quantities thru the evening that my body is in a constant state of digestion and burning calories - in effect, I am putting my body to work! Also, by not eating a large meal at 1 sitting - my stomach doesn't stretch. Since I've been eating this way, my stomach is virtually flat - all day long.

From eating a lot of times yesterday, I am not hungry at all for breakfast. Besides, my huge hamburger is still in my digestive tract.

Hangin Flesh

hanging flesh...That's what DH calls the skin between my legs...I really think that ex. is the key...unfortunately for a couch potato like me. And I am the same! Look good in clothes, NOT naked..

What kind of music does the tape use? How difficult are the routines?

I love the idea of kidnapping him!!

The Power Body by Christi Taylor has variety of music: latin, hip hop, classical, jazz, reggae and an Italian love song.

I also know that when I listen to music - my mood lifts so "perhaps" I won't be bit@@ing through out it!

Good morning! Yesterday was a pretty good day I stayed pretty much on track with the exception of Crystal light - but I am working on that. I didn't weight myself, but my jeans are fitting better, not perfect.... but better and I will take that over not them not fitting at all! LOL

My macros are as follows, I was a little on the high side for protein yesterday - I will have to amp up the fat today.

Cals: 1359
F 48%
P 47%
C 6%

Have a great day everyone!

Linda, I do, plus 1200 mg calcium, and now magnesium...

Do you think it will take long to learn the routines?

Re: calories-well, I lost some overnight and it's just that you had said that was the lowest yet as if that was good...I look to you for good advice. But 1400 isn't that much more than 1250. I never feel "full" or stuffed. I usually feel ok and not exactly hungry after eating, but maybe not satisfied? Not sure...

Getting the fat in seems always to up my protein and cals. I am staying low on cheese-usually not more than an ounce a day. Today there was only half and half at work for my coffee, but I only had 1T.

When I wasn't really considering cals and felt pretty satisfied, I stayed around 1600. And I'm trying to get away from 160 lbs! (160X10)

Roxy-I was going to say exactly that about your stats! Good for you! Pretty soon you will be able to go "closet shopping" - my favorite thing!

Donna,
I worded it wrong. Instead of the "best" calories, I meant the "lowest" calories. I was on my 1st cup of coffee when I wrote that.

Not sure how long it'll take to do the routine...I don't even know what it's going to be like. I took "disco lessons" in my 20's and kept up with the instructor. With practice, anything can be achieved.

Atkinsgoddess - Thanks so much for the words of encouragement! I am SO excited about the pending closet shopping experience. Woo hoo! Right now I am happy that I am feeling more in control over my eating and my food choices. I love Atkins!

As for your never feeling "full" - if it make you feel any better the same thing happens to me... mostly at night.... argh... I just keep drinking lots of tea and water and club soda. I think BF thinks I am afraid I am going to die of thirst! LOL I know that for me the not feeling full is just my bodys way of trying to get me to maintain my weight of 150 pounds and well.... I don't want that so I am trying to gradually lower my daily calories so that I don't overly shock my body and perhaps the hunger pains won't be as bad. Good luck and Happy Wednesday!

Linda - Good luck with your new program - P.S. I LOVE disco woo hoo!

Roxy, you must be a young thing to want to be 120 at 5'6"

I know that at 5' 7.5" people were telling me I was too thin at 138 (I thought I looked great), but then I am 62. When I was in my 20s I weighed in the high 120s and looked fine...interesting how things change as we get older.

I try to drink the water, but it's always work. You're right, sometimes it's not hunger, but thirst.

Well, lets just say that I am old enough to know that it goes on much easier than it comes off!!! HA! LOL and that I am currently working towards dropping down to 140 pounds... from there I will aim for 130 and I'm pretty sure I would be happy with that. I just want to feel comfortable in my body again and right now at 150 - comfort seems to elude me.

Ya, water can be a real drag - i have to force it down. :/ I know that a lot of the time i'm not hungry or thirsty - I just want to put something in my mouth to likely distract myself from something else - at least water is one of the best things I can consume... but I sure wish it was chocolate cake or chardonnay!

I guess I'm done for the day. Did my Pilates...it feels like I'm starting from square one again; I guess I am since I haven't done it in a while. Amazing the strength and flexibility I've lost...oh well...

cals-1439
fat-72%
carbs-3% (10.9 gross)
protein-26%

B-frittata, decaf w/ splenda and half and half
L-1 med chix breast, > 1C salad, .7T greek dressing
D-7 ounces 80/20 burger with pan juices made with a bit of wine; fauxtatoes with ghee

I was pretty good on water, but still not enough.
Checked stix an hour after lunch-in "small" zone...first "go" of the morning it was in "trace"
I will feel hunger before bed and will be ravenous in the morning, but I just don't want to go above these calories as an experiment.

I'm sure you're all just fascinated by this...

The link didn't work but that's the stuff. I saw it today at our grocery store for $22. That's the best price yet I've seen.

Good job on the Pilates!

If the link didn't work how did you see how much it was?
Funny, I just tried the link and it worked....
Yow, I just read some of the reviews...I think I'm scared. Never done anything like this before.

I had a need for something sweet, so had some sf jello and a bit of heavy cream.
