Hi depending on where you guys life in the US there are these low carb ice cream places called D Lites and the ice cream is SO amazingly delish...my only issue is that im skeptical about the nutritional info they give, and no one in the store seems to know how many carbs there "really" is in a serving..I was wondering if anyone knew about this
place ,and or has tried it on induction..has it stalled anyone? and can someone tell me where on the web I can find some solid info about this place? they sell all kinds of low carb products and their ice cream is soft serve...hmm hopefully someone has heard of D'Lites...ty !

Tasty-D-lite is a lowfat product, not lowcarb. Full of sugar and guar gum and who knows what?

In my book, it isn't food.

D Lites

We might not be talking about the same thing because their whole store is based on a low carb lifestyle...I was just wondering if anyone knew the exact carb count...that would be awful if they were serving high sugar ice cream ..lol

look at the nutritional facts and take the total carbs and subtract the dietary fiber and that will tell you how many carbs are in a serving

I found this nutritional info, not sure if it's the same stuff you're talking about. Tampa Bay D'Lites

Quote:
The site says that all flavors are flavored versions of either chocolate of vanilla, so the carbs are the same. I hate it that vanilla has carbs!

Just be careful with the low carb products. Most of the time they have a lot of sugar alcohols in them and that can wreak havoc on your tummy. I have a low carb lifestyle store near me and I have to be real careful sometimes because they are also a gluten free store. Some of the stuff I want to try is NOT low carb but it is NO suger. Just learn to shop carefully.

De-lite used to make a lot of LC goodies and I had many of these without much problem. Many make LC icecream - Like Breyers Ice Cream and again, have not had any problems. I say, go slow and see how your body reacts to it.

beachagain - My husband is pushing for us to try lc ice cream. So many things stop weight loss for me that I'm not willing to try until Maintenance. I'll probably get some for him, though. Lucky dog, he's got that man metabolism going on.

I love this stuff! It's my treat on Saturdays after running errands. I get the small serving of chocolate or the chocolate flavor of the day. It is amazingly good. I bought a pint of it, but it turned out to be a trigger food (ate the whole darn thing at one sitting, no control) so I just limit it to a small treat once a week. It's very popular here in Tampa, even for those not watching their weight. There's always a crowd there. The store also sells a lot of low carb products.

Not healthy

The taste is okay but the reason I will not go back is I discovered that the fat they use in the ice cream is a partially hydrogenated one---not something I want to put in my body.

Are you following Atkins 1992? Then this ice cream is okay as per rule #5 of Induction. However, if you are following DANDR 2002, then wait until OWL Rung 2 to have it, because D'Lites Ice Cream is made with skimmed milk.

BTW, someone mentioned sugar alcohols (not referring necessarily to this ice cream, I know). According to their website, the ice cream does not contain sugar alcohols or artificial sweeteners, and all the sweetness comes from lactose.

For those of you who go by DANDR 2002 (or don't have a D'Lites store near you or have issues with sugar alcohols.... or just like to have fun in the kitchen ), you can make your own ice cream using heavy cream. Just stick to the Induction cream and sweetener limits.

I learned last time I low carbed that sugar alcohols and me did not get along. Plus there's way too much junk in them.

When I just have to have an ice cream treat I shave the ice in one of those little ice machines pack it down good, pour on a tiny bit of heavy cream and a bit sugar free syrup.Cherry is my favorite. Its surprisingly tasty.
