First day...suddenly I'm starving!?!?

I think today went rather well...

breakfast - 3 eggs made with butter, and bacon.

lunch - large can of chicken with sour cream and grilled zuccini

snack - some chicken strips (Tyson unbreaded of course!) w/sour cream and 1 small tomato.

dinner - chicken strips with sour cream, olive oil, and asparagus.

I was pretty full after dinner, but now the late-night cravings are kicking in. ack!!!
Oh, and I've had at least 12 glasses of water. I'm a water fiend.

Anyone else having late night difficulties??

WOE: Atkins all the way!

Welcome to your first day! The important thing now is to not eat anything that is not on your induction list...but it is OK to have a snack if you are hungry. It may not sound like what you want right now, but a couple of slices of lunchmeat dipped in mayo, or a hard boiled egg will give you some protein and help get rid of the hungry feeling. When I am really craving something at night (sweets are what I crave) I will have a sugar free jello. The important thing is that you really make yourself stick with it these first few days....it really does become easier as you purge your body of sugar and carbs. You will amazed at how the cravings go away. Good luck and stick with it...we are all with you!!

thank you, 2Big. I wish I'd stuck to the board for your response first... instead I went through the back of my pantry and dug up an old box of Atkins bars. (expiration date was 2005) NOT on the induction list! Rrrr! I guess I blew it, but I'm still going to count this as a good first day of induction.

Well, I sent husband to the store for all my essentials (mayo, more eggs, salad)
I can't seem to get out of the house these days for small errands... I have 6 month old twins and they are demanding all of my attention, but I'm determined to do this WOE for ME!!!

thanks again.

Well, it could have been worse than the Atkins bars. Could have been a gallon of ice cream! The first few days can be quite weird, your body has a lot of adjusting to do. By the end of the day with no sugar it's all "er... aren't we missing something here?"

Stick with it. Absolutely don't worry about calories these first few days, even if you end up having to watch them later, now is not the time to do so. I'm a believer that the only way to beat cravings is to starve them. That doesn't mean eat nothing, but if you're craving carbs, eat fat or protein instead to get rid of the hunger without giving in to the sweetness craving. Treat cravings like a demanding toddler, don't give in to them all the time or they'll end up ruling your life.

I hear you on the late night issues, I call it my whitching hour. I have just recently been thinking about how I can be "good" all day and then its like I just cave in. I am working hard on this, good luck to you.

Thank you everyone, you're all so nice!

Today is just like yesterday, but hopefully TONIGHT will be different! Hmmm, hardboiled eggs to beat a sugar craving? It's just whacky enough to maybe work! I'll have to dip it in a lot of mustard or something...

Also, I know it's okay to eat a lot of eggs, but I had 4 this morning, I mean, that's just too many, right? Two should be enough a day?

I also beat through my headache today; I remember these from 4 years ago http://images.lowcarbfriends.com/lcf...ggrin2.gifwhen I first did low carb/Atkins. Gotta push through!!!

Four eggs isn't too many. I've eaten six in a day plenty of time. Eggs are a perfect food, protein, fat and a tiny bit of carbs. A balanced meal in a handy package.

I'm on day two, too. I made it through the night -- but it was harder giving up my couple of glasses of wine than it was giving up sweets.

I had 3 eggs for breakfast and I've been so incredibly hungry. Maybe I'll have to do 4 just like you.

I def felt that way the first day. All i wanted was ice cream...i don't even like ice cream....I tend to want what i can't have. Its now day 3 and getting a little easier. But still want a snack at night. Try having a cheese stick. Its not as good a candy....or junk....but it works.

I think if you are hungry you should not be afraid to eat from the list.
not being hungry and being able to eat if you are is the best thing about this way of eating.

If I do? I just eat more protein. IF I'm hungry I do anyway. If I'm not, I just get busy with something....tv, computer, read...ANYthing but eat. I find it easy to turn down the "just got the feeling I want to put something in my mouth" feeling if I've eaten well during the day...hope this helps you somehow.
