Woah Nellie!!

I left for my riding lesson this morning without eating breakfast and my blood sugar crashed!

After my lesson (which was outside in the sun) I got off the horse and within minutes, I became slightly light-headed, weak, nauseous, and my hearing faded. I immediately sat down on the mounting block until my instructor and an assistant escorted me into the air conditioning, all the while asking if I had high blood sugar? Low blood sugar? Diabetic? Maybe having a heat stroke? She mentioned my lips were a shade of blue.

Once we got inside, I was handed a Taco Bell soft beef taco and a can of regular Pepsi to up my sugar. (OMG! It tasted so good, but it killed me to eat and drink it!!) My instructor doesn't like the fact I'm on Atkins and chalked it up to my woe.

It's my fault for not eating breakfast, I know. But the experience did cause me to rethink WTH am I doing?

That happened to me last week, I just got so busy during the day and I hadn't ate anything. I just ate some veggies and meat and started sipping water and I was fine soon enough. This would not have happened to us if we were regularly fueling our bodies. Just because we are LCing doesn't make us sick, its when we don't take the proper care that we get the symtoms of the low blood sugar.

Atkins always say the only meal you must eat, even when not hungry, is breakfast.
