well i had lost about 20 pds before july 4th and i had went to visit my grandmas house and wouldn't you know there was not a thing there that i could have on my diet.
so i tried my very best to at least stick to the plan. but when i had gotten back home after 5 days and weighed myself i had gained back about 10 pds. i feel so BAD but i am back on track trying to get back to were i was before but i feel i let myself down. ![]() |

Most of that is probably water retention weight that will come off in a couple of days of strict eating, right? Drink lots and lots of water to help flush things a long. I don't know for sure, but I doubt it is possible to gain 10 pounds of fat in 5 days. Don't be too discouraged...you'll be right back to where you were before you know it! :-)

Next time be prepared that your going to have to bring food for yourself. For 4th of july at my parents i brought a few LC friendly foods for myself and others. I also made the cucumber salad with splenda instead of sugar. Just get right back on track and forget about the slip up. I am on day 19 of induction and slipped up and had some watermelon over the holiday weekend and two rum and cokes, thankfully I didn't get off track. Good luck and keep on truckin along!

thanks so much for all your words of encouragment! I will be strict this week . i had 2 eggs and some bacon this morning and a hamburger for lunch. i do think that its water retention like you said lemonmama. so i have been drinking a lot of water for the past 3 days trying to hopefully wash it all out.

I went off plan this past weekend, too. And I stayed off plan until today. I feel so bloated. Today it's eggs, steak, eggs and a salad.

I am so new at this, that I actually told my husband I wanted to stay home or near home this past weekend so that I could have access to exactly what was on my plan. I'd like to feel a little more comfortable branching out, but it is really important to me to do induction by the book and stay in ketosis. I know that someday I'll have to rejoin the real world though!
Is there a list anywhere of fast food places or regular restaurants and the best choices there? I worry that there are hidden carbs or sugars even in their burgers or chicken. I'm impressed that you all hopped right back on the wagon after a small detour. That is hard for me, so I'd just as soon not detour, at least not yet! Dawna |

I gained 6 lbs. over the holiday, too. 3lbs of it went right back off as soon as I jumped back on. Ditto on the water. A lot of the weight will just wash off. Stick with it and plan better next time. (Or don't plan to go off like me! :O )
You can SO do this! |

I actually gained about 5 lbs in a couple days too, but I was pretty much staying on plan... I had planned ahead to avoid holiday shenanigans, and I just ate bunless burgers with some hot sauce. now I'm worried I overdid it on the hot sauce or that the burgers had secret carbs. anyway I decided that, since I already gained anyway, I might as well finish off some of the "barely legal" foods in my fridge -- cream cheese (I'm switching to Atkins '72 tomorrow) and sf maple syrup.
after a huge blowout yesterday, with tons of bacon, Sheila's low carb pancakes, and sf maple syrup, I was actually down to 183.5 and in ketosis. I thought for sure the syrup would stall me or throw me out. so I am assuming it was all water weight... although I'm pissed I'm not back to 180.5! |

Ok, I'm ssoooo there too! July 1st marked the end of my two-week induction, and I was down 11 lbs....then I went to my mom's lake cottage for the weekend - did great on food until the last day (had a burger with a bun, stupid me! and I just HAD to have a small serving of this kahlua cake I made for a party....) so I gained 5 lbs. back....besides those two cheats, the only other thing I had was a few beers here and there - Michelob Ultra, even! This is so hard in daily life! I've been back at strict induction for 2+ days and haven't dropped any of the gained weight yet - I was also hoping it was just some water weight or something.....ugh! We'll see what happens the rest of the week Good luck to everyone else experiencing this kind of relapse! Have a great nite... |

i am so glad that i am not the only one who slipped up over the holiday ! so i have been eating a lot of salads for jersey mikes, i like the turkey and provolone with green peppers and tomatoes and i bring my own salad dressing to work with me. i have been using newmans own olive oil and vinegar which is excellent but does anyone know anything else i can use ?? i am so needing a change from it. i like that hardee's low carb burger too i just eat it without the ketchup, onions & pickles. they also carry a really nice side salad too.
