What's your absolute favorite induction meal?

Hi Everyone. I'm about to start induction (again) and already dreading it... I'm discouraged about my lack of willpower/whatever - but know I need to try, try again. Anyone want to share a great induction meal(s) they eat? I need all the help I can get. Thanks!

An easy breakfast for me:

dash of cream
nutmeg
bit of Stevia

I put it in a greased bowl and microwave for 30 sec increments..cover it with a paper towel in case the egg explodes.

I just made a list to get me through the next week:

"Alice Springs Chicken:" Chicken breast topped with sauteed mushrooms, cheese and "honey-mustard" sauce. ("honey-mustard:" dijon, mayo, sweetener, to taste).

Steak and roasted green beans (cooked until crispy and dipped in SF ketchup).

"Shrimp and Grits:" Shrimp, seasoned with blackening spices, pan fried and poured over cauliflower faux-tatoes.

Grilled chicken wings with buffalo sauce and blue cheese dressing.

Meatballs tossed in SF pizza sauce and with melted mozzarella.

Pork chops with a dijon cream sauce.

Just a few of my favorites.

I don't know if this will make any sense, but honestly, when I am doing induction, I try not to think about things like favorites or substitutes for them. Why? Because for me, variety is the spice of failure.

Instead, I get what I know I need and that is "legal" for induction, and that's what I eat. When I try to get all fancy and create a huge amount of variety, I tend to get totally wrapped up in thinking about, planning for, preparing, anticipating, food, food, food - in other words, it's like fun time for my food addiction! The more I focus on variety, the more likely I am to go off plan.

I required a very simple, focused approach to my food because I am easily distracted!!

I think that makes total sense! The only thing is that if you are doing induction long term, you can easily get bored with the same foods again and again. I have been doing induction (staying under 20 carbs a day) for 2 months, and since my husband has to eat what I cook, I have to be creative sometimes. But I totally understand what you are saying, and if it were just for 2 weeks, I would agree.

Wow Everyone - Thanks for the ideas and advice. I've gotta say that variety is sometimes my downfall... Some recipies are so good - and so similar to their high-carb counterparts that I think they may weaken my determination. I'm hanging tough, though!

One of my favorites is:

Fresh squash out of the garden...I chop it up, put salt and pepper and a tiny bit of onion on it and fry it...I really like it with fresh zucchini as well. I have this along with a hamburger patty and a bowl of salad!

One of my other favorites is a big juicy hamburger patty on an Oopsie (thanks Cleo) with cheese, mayo, lettuce, bacon, onion, and pickle! YUMM YUMM YUMM!!!

That approach does make sense, and I wish it worked for me. I'd give anything if I could eat the same foods prepared the same ways day in and day out. I'm easily bored (ADD) and if I don't seek out new ways to make the food (and even new ways to work the plan itself like varying macronutrient ratios and meal timing/frequency) I will fall off plan in a matter of weeks or even days! The longer I do it, the shorter the time frame that the boredom sets in. When I first started it was about 6 months before I had to make a change to keep it challenging and interesting to me. Now I have to shake it up every couple of weeks. I hate it. It certainly makes things harder than it has to be. But I'm like that in every part of my life so I just try to go with it. I even have to change up the way I do housework every few weeks or I'll just get fed up and quit doing it! It's not pretty when that happens... LOL

But, yeah, when it was only for the first 2 weeks, it was no problem to just eat the basics: meat and salad or veggie and that's a good way to look at it.

I've been on induction since January 1st of this year (for the most part). If I ate the same thing everyday, I would have gone mad by now and eaten someone.

...yeah, I can see how that happens. I listed oopsies as my favourite up there but they are so delicious and breadlike that I try to eat seventeen batches of them, which sucks because that's a lot of eggs and also cream cheese is expensive.

ANYWAY I tend to eat a couple things each week. because then I don't freak myself out with obsessive planning, but I'm also not caught without a lunch (thus tempted to eat wendy's for breakfast, or whatever). like do a big grocery run and buy premade burgers, or make them myself with I giant package of ground beef, then eat burgers every day! this week I got the nickname "Burger Queen" at work.

I spent quite a few years on a VERY restrictive diet. It was a bodybuilder's diet. I stepped back and considered eating as refueling. It really kept me in line. I was working as a cook when I started on that diet...

At Wendy's I order some sort of burger, no bun, no ketchup, you can get the Caesar side salad and make it a combo. (Feed the croûtons to the birds) Get some mayo and mustard packets, as many locations make it dry, ick. An unsweetened iced tea, and I am set to go. I KNOW where the bun menu button is on their register... (Just in case the cashier at the location I am going to today doesn't...) You CAN eat safely, even without a huge amount of planning. McDonalds and Wendy's both have websites that you can enter your order, and customize it to get your nutritional info. skip the bun...

I hear ya, Marbles. Wendy's and McD's aren't THAT bad, not like Cinnabon or places where you really can't eat anything. there are lots of burger options and McD's angus burger is acceptable.
but I have been resorting to Baconators way too often lately... they are delicious, but I don't like paying $7 for what's supposed to be lunch when I could have made my own for like $1 at home...

plus the Baconator's 1500+ calories sorta makes it difficult to plan the rest of my day when I'm aiming for 1800-2000 calories :/
