This can't be right
The day had only begun and out of 20 carbs, I've already used up HALF?? And this will pretty much be a morning routine....
2 cups coffee (13 oz mug, 1 .5oz Half & Half, 2 Splenda pkts ea) = 6 carbs Metamucil (8 oz water, 2 heaping tsp.) = 4 I've been taking only 1 tsp but didn't have any *affect* Can someone please tell me this just ain't right? ![]() |

maybe you could try benefiber instead of metamucil? The benefiber has only 1 net carb per serving. Benefiber
I don't drink coffee, but if you use 1.5 oz heavy cream, that's only 1 carb (well, 1.25 carbs to be exact, I think) Also, maybe try liquid splenda instead of packets to save those 2 carbs ![]() Doing all that would cut you back to only 3-4 carbs instead of 10 HTH Last edited by RiotGirl08 : 07-03-2008 at 11:11 AM. |

whoops, OK... I didn't mean to say liquid "Splenda", I meant liquid sucralose. The brand Splenda doesn't make a liquid to my knowledge. You can buy it online- some online auction sites have it for roughly $6 per ounce, or you can buy the brand Sweetzfree online for roughly $17 per ounce. Or you can try Stevia, I think that's pretty common in health food stores or GNC. I have no clue how much that costs.

yeah, I tried Stevia once, and that was all it took for me!
I've never tried Sweetzfree, because I think its RIDICULOUSLY overpriced. It's liquid sucralose, is all it is. Which I can get online for around $25 for a 4 ounce bottle. That 4 oz bottle lasts me well over 6 months. |

I honestly don't know how anybody likes that stuff.
![]() Well, with eating half my carbs this morning, I'm still full. And if I don't eat anything, my body will probably think it's being starved and won't release the poundage either!! Can't win! |

check out EZ-Sweetz Also. They have a website and shipping is only 99cents and it comes fast. It is in little bottles really convenient for a purse (if you carry one) and one drop is sweet as 2 teaspoons sugar and there are no carbs cause there is no filler.
ProStores Maintenance But darned if the store isn't "undergoing maintenance" right now so you can't look at it for today. Bah! The little bottle is like $3.99 or so and has 180 single drop servings Last edited by metqa : 07-04-2008 at 12:22 PM. |

My breakfast consisted of 3 eggs, 2 slices of cheese, 2 slices of bacon, some minced onion, banana pepper and cherry tomato. Came to 10 carbs total. 8 net.
I think you need to rethink things. I would never make it. But I need my breakfast. That's where I usually get the bulk of my carbs in. |

If so, that should be counted as 4 carbs right there. 1 per packet. and 1.5oz of Half and Half per cup? Or am I reading this wrong. Last edited by BarbDe : 07-04-2008 at 01:49 PM. |

I just use the liquid saccharin....never bothered me and 0 carbs. Plus I prefer heavy whipping cream & it has less carbs. I am a huge coffee drinker so I know all too well how fast those coffee carbs add up.

Can you drink coffee black? I went from a cream and sugar girl, to just cream when I worked at a place that had no sugar. Then figured, heck I would just go to black. Actually, then I gave it up when I started Atkins in 2004. Boy was that an induction headache! ![]() |

I don't count the fiber at all "dietary" fiber (also known as insoluble fiber) is the solid stuff, soluble is the squishy stuff, but neither is digested so I don't count any fiber as carbs. technically it says twenty calories, but they count fiber as a carb, so that is stupid. the maltodextrin has carbs but very little. the reason packet of splenda is counted as 1 carb is because of the malto, but it is likely it is not a full carb so it is rounded up for safety.
Cream has a little less sugar than half and half which is half cream and half milk. A half oz of cream has less than half a carb, 0.4g whereas a half oz half n' half is .7g. Splitting hairs really but the cream is so much better and has more fat I'm sure. I think if you don't count the metameucil fiber you will gain 4 grams to play with, switchin out the cream give you and extra half a carb. so you get 4.6 carbs to have more. Oh and get a liquid splenda to chop of two more carbs and you are up to 6.4 free carbs. Whew!

Well I just went to CVS and picked up some sugar free, chewable "Fiber Choice" that lists total carb 4 with dietary fiber 4 and soluble fiber 4, so that equals ZERO.
Gonna switch to Heavy Cream and get some liquid splenda too. Thanks guys! ![]() |

I had the same problem when I started, all my carbs were in non healthy forms like splenda. I cut back my coffee to 1 cup a day with one equal and heavy cream, the heavy cream makes it sweeter so you will not need two packages. I also stopped taking extra fiber and my body regulated itself it that area. Now, I make sure my carbs come from the fruits and veggies. Lettuce has taken over as my fiber source, lol.
