Thanks for starting the new thread, Bella!

I'm back from the lake. It was a pretty nice wekend and we4 did get some boat time in! Had dinner with my sister, BIL and 2 of their grandkids Fri. night. Sat. was pretty much a stay at the cabin day. I did go out for coffee Sta. a.m as DH had a Lake Association meeting at our place that morning. Ileft the cabinaround 2:00 and went to our DIL's 40th party. she loved the sewing machine!! I also brought her a bag of goodies and when you open the bag it said "Haoppy birthday...Let's party" and played music. It was quite the hit! So much for my weekend...they sure go fast!

Stevie...it is good to have you back! It must have been a long hard week for you. Losing parents is hard...no matter what age we are or how long we've seen it coming. As usual, you got a lot accomplished! And now I bet it is good to be back home and get settled back in! How good of you to do all the indies to all of us! How fun it will be to look for a new apartment! And then it will truly be both of yours. I think our hardest year was the year we got married and my DH moved in with my son and I. It was all much better when we bought a new house that everyone felt was theirs! You have a lot on your list, but they all sound like good things to have!

And now I must go and get clothes ready for work and get ready for another week!

to everyone else!

Hey everyone... just wanted to quickly say hi... been out of town for the last week or so... will catch up tomorrow hopefully when its not so late.

Mitz, I am back in the game tomorrow!

Marla, was telling DH on the way about how you'd offered help if we broke down or something, where you guys lived, blah blah blah and then realized that I never put your number in my cell. And I didn't bring my laptop or get on a computer all week so I didn't have your number with me. To quote Homer S., "D'oh!" The short version: Loved your state, have lots to tell about what I did there, and I have to go back because I am not finished... heck I may move there!

Good morning!

Happy MOANDay! (C'mon, Ladies...you have to admit that you missed hearing me say that! )

I think that this has got to be one of the slowest periods that our Thread has ever undergone! No postings in several days!

Bella - If I lvied nearer, I would surely go. Am thinking about finding a group locally as well.

PAtt - Good to be back and glad that your DDIL loved the sewing machine! It is hard moving into a new place that's already furnished and you're right. It will be great once we find a larger place (with a balconey). I did a lot of research on it all afternoon yesterday (while DA was cookng) and have saved properties to my favorites so we can investigate them.

Michelle - Glad you had a good time on your vacay! Back to the lc grind today? It wil lbe hard for me, but I'll let you help keep me on track. lol.

C'mon...the rest of you ladies..check in and let me know what's up! I've missed you guys!

Okay...today is a new start for me (once again). I fear I'm headed up into the 160's if not already there and I'm taking control of myself. My two month long eating and drinking stress jag has ended officially! Am heading off to the store to pick up some hamburger and Italian sausage for the Dreamfield's lasagna tonight. Next week I'm going back strictly into induction but this week I'm giving DA a taste of the lc lifestyle and how diverse it can be. In other words, one can cook while doing low carbing. He loves lasagna and so I thought I would make him some the lc way...low sugar tomato sauce, lean beef, Dreamfield's pasta, etc.. It will be a nice start to the week. He's already planned to use the leftovers by adding a sharply grated cheddar to the top of it for later in the week. This afternoon I"m going to make one of my frittatas for breakfasts this week as well as they help me stay on track. Also..no "after work cocktails". I need to purge my system of all things bad! Next week it will be my old WOE with fresh veggies, salads and meats, but this week I feel like cooking. We went to the new supermarket down the street yesterday afternoon and got most of the fixings for this week's meals...at the cost of 3 meals delivered by our local restaurant that we like. I pointed that out to DA. Anyway, the new market has a lot of specialty items so must still hit the ShopRite for normal things that are cheaper at the normal store, like hamburger.

Wanted to get to the gym today for my fresh start as well but afraid that's not happening. I have 10 loads of laundry to do and a lot of cleaning to get caught up on while I was away for that 8 days in Texas. I plan on going to the gym on Wednesday now, once all chores have gotten out of the way, and my mind will be free and clear to concentrate on me once again.

Went online last night as well and checked into temporary employment agency positions and will be working on making contacts there during the course of this week. With everything up in the air as to the probate of Dad's estate, it will be easier not to have to worry about responsibilities. Just show up and work is a good thing right now, and still get some income coming in.

Gotta run so I can get started. ALso want to hit Bed, Bath & Beyond ofr a couple of magazine racks. I have found an annoying habit of DA's....he'll read a magazine nad if not finished with it, put it down beside his chair, and then I find a whole stack slowly growing. I'm getting him one for beside his chair and one for the bathroom. Also need some small hooks to put into the cabinets next to the stove so that I can hang potholders on them and make some more room in a drawer in the kitchen.

Talk to you later!

I'm in.

I've been 'low carbing' since March 13th. I won't call it Atkins, cause I just did read the chapter on Induction a couple of weeks ago!! I tried Stillman's for a few days. It really did me in. I didn't get to the point where I wasn't hungry... so I was always hungry... and eating a lot of meat. The main reason I resisted Atkins for so many years was because I thought it was an all meat, cheese, egg diet. ( I did lose 1.2 pounds in those few days, though).

SO I am going to do induction. I have NEVER counted carbs up to this point... but I've lost almost 27 pounds. I think, because I am not counting, is the reason I've seen lower numbers than some others.

I hope y'all will help me get on board with the counting. Induction should only last a couple of weeks, right??

Welcome Joy! Be sure to read the induction threads such as Atkins 72 with all the info about induction. And yes, it lasts 2 weeks unless you have alot to lose and then some folks choose to stay on it longer.

Stevie! So glad you are getting back on track....you know I worried about you! And do you recall my dh lost weight while I was losing? And he didn't need to! So I don't know about Alan, but it has its hidden benefits

Have a great day!

Hello Ladies,

Welcome to Joy and Koala Tee! Jump right in ladies and let us know a little bit about yourselves!

It's definitely a Moanday around here. We had a horrendous storm this morning at 2:00 am. That's when the power went out......and it's still out. According to the National Weather Service, the straight-line winds were 106 mph! Little ol' sarcastic me thought "Does it really matter if they're straight-line or twisting if they're 106 mph?"

The neighbor's basement flooded and they called at 2:47 am to borrow our generator to power up their sump pump. So, three families all gathered in one driveway in the middle of the night between storms, loading up the generator. Then, we saw the other neighbor's trampoline in the middle of the road. So the guys moved that. Evidently, the trampoline had a wild ride over two privacy fences (it didn't really clear either fence.....looks like someone needs to dig some new fence post holes and screw in some new boards!) and landed in the road. My favorite dogwood tree sacraficed it's life in the storm and there are probably a hundred trees down or damaged in our neighborhood and across the street on the golf course. Roof shingles, trash cans, and assorted awnings and gazebos are everywhere. Too bad we don't know where they came from! The umbrella on the patio furniture is destroyed, but because of the wind direction...the pool furniture didn't end up in the pool this time! However, there's enough leaves in the bottom of the pool to cover Central Park!

I've been calling home from work, checking to see if the answering machine is on. And it's not, yet. So the electricity is still out.

DH and I went home at lunch and fired up the generator to power the refrigerator and freezer. After almost 12 hours, the refrigerator was at 46 degrees and the freezer was at 31 degrees. So we shouldn't have lost any food. However, we've told the neighbors to bring their thawed food to the back yard tonight for the world's best BBQ! You'all are invited.........I think we'll have plenty! Our gas grill is hooked up to natural gas, so we're set to cook a lot of food!

So, it's been a busy day.........this makes me feel for those electrical guys working on the power lines. That's what my dad did for years, and I truly understand what they're going through. I sure hope they get the power on before bedtime....I really like to sleep with the AC on......snuggled under the covers!

Before the Big Storm of 2008, we spent the weekend with the DSs at the lake. The weather was wonderful and we had a great time. We DID have a little situation though.....I'll give you a hint and you can think about it.......

When the DSs were loading mine and DH's luggage into the Tahoe, getting ready to go home, oldest DS says "What's that noise?"

Youngest DS, digging in luggage, says to oldest DS, "I don't know. What's that? And what's that greasy stuff?"

All I can say is..........OMG!!!!!

That's enough for now..........I'll check back in later..... (insert picture of Marla, getting the neighbor's together to BBQ their ribeyes and t-bones!)

Marla

Marla....did DS's figure out what the noise was???????

Not much going on here....the weather has been nice and not much rain Just you wait in a few weeks they'll be talking about a drought.

I'm been up and down the same 3 lbs about 3 times in the past 2 weeks, TOM may be showing a couple weeks from now since I'm pretty sure I'm ovulating that's probably why the lbs aren't staying away.

DH just brought home taco salads so I'll be back later......

Hey there! It has been quiet around here! Lovely day here and I got out and pulled some weeds after work. The neighbor came over on her new bike and I tried it out. I've been thinking about getting one.....hmm.....
I haven't been to the grocery store since getting back from the lake so it looks like tuna salad is about all I can rustle up tonight.

Bella...the LC dinner group sounds like fun!
Stevie...that lasagna sounds mighty good! Kind of a good idea to ease back into the plan!
Marla...that was a big storm! It seems like there have been bad storms/floods/weather all over the country this summer! Your BBQ idea sounds great! Good to get people together and talk about the storm and help each other out! The noise in the luggage! I think we get it!!

MIchelle...glad you had a good vacation! Tell us all about it!

Crap!

I've been sitting here typing (for a long a$$ time - complete with indies) and lost my post. Am figuring it out though..I think I'm accidentally hitting the touchpad on this laptop and if the little pointer is on a link, it bounces to that if I hit the touchpad too often. Don't have this problem when I use a regular computer and my split keyboard. I'm going to go away and type up a post in WORD and post it either tonight or tomorrow morning.

Have a nice night everyone!

Oh...and to Koala and Joy! Tell us about yourselves...we're nosy! Jump in any time.

Later!

Happy Tuesday!

Good morning everyone! Hope this Tuesday finds everybody in good spirits. I just woke up myself, after getting to bed…..errr….I mean to sleep at midnight last night. DA worked all evening and, in fact, has been doing so most evenings, which leaves me to my own devices. Not a bad thing. We’ve settled down into a routine. We’ll turn on the TV while we eat dinner (usually watch old episodes of Friends, most of which I haven’t seen, not having spent much time in front of it) and then turn it off and he does some work and I go online or do something constructive….like go through the latest TONY (Time Out New York) magazine to see what restaurants/clubs/museum/ were reviewed, etc.. If you ever go to NYC, it’s worth picking one up. I’m actually creating a list for places we might wanna hit, by the area that they are in, so if we are in a certain area in the City, we can check it out while there.

I only gotone load of laundry done yesterday unfortunately however, did get everything sorted. Was busy, busy – grocery store, Bed, Bath & Beyond. Then got home, and started in on cleaning the kitchen (DA cooked the night before – I clean up while cooking and he doesn’t). Made my lasagna sauce, submitted a resume for a temp position (Floating Executive Assistant for a mid-size financial firm in Midtown), then put the lasagna together. Since he works so late, I’m learning that I actually have more time in the evenings to do stuff, like make dinner, etc. This is all so weird to me, as I have always been early to bed and early to rise…here it’s late to bed and late to rise.

Anyway, my lasagna was P-E-R-F-E-C-T! It’s a nice boost, since I haven’t ever made lasagna before. The Dreamfields held up real nice and didn’t break on us. I added more parsley to the cheese mixture and tweaked the recipe a bit (I usually do) – it needed more garlic and I added fresh basil and oregano towards the end of making the sauce. It’s pretty cool as I told DA last night that I was worried if it had not come out and he told me he looks at my cooking for us this way….if it turns out and is good, then Great! If not, then we can always call Dorrians (his fave delivery restaurant and our local Irish pub) so no biggie. One of the last problems with my EX was he threw a fit and got “scary” when I cooked and it didn’t turn out and he threw his tray across the kitchen, food went everywhere, he accused me of purposely “screwing up his meal just to pi$$ him off” and then I had to flee to work for about 4 hours at 8 o’clock at night. I thought of that time while I was cooking yesterday and just smiled…I’m so relaxed with DA and, like he said, “no worries”. Anyway, it’s so nice to not have pressure and also nice to have the time to actually concentrate and cook. My cooking is usually broiled meats with veggies and salads so I’ll be going back to that next week and I’ll add in a starch dish for DA if he wants. I’m planning each menu ahead of time and buying the ingredients each Sunday for the week, so that our small apartment fridge is not overloaded.

I have a kim chi story – kim chi is Korean pickled vegetables and we picked up a jar at the specialty food store on Sunday when we went. I hadn’t had it for a long long time – my dad, who was in the Korean War, learned how to make it and being the foodie he was, used to make it for us. Anyway, when I got home yesterday, I opened up the cupboard to put the olives away and noticed some liquid all over the shelf so started taking stuff out, cleaning them off, trying to determine the source. I noticed that the lid on the jar of the kim chi was extended so set it in the sink. Slowly took the top off, and the stuff inside exploded out (into the sink thank goodness!) and then looked on the jar…”must be kept refrigerated”…lol….Don’t know if it was DA or I that put it up there since we were both putting groceries away, but needless to say, I tossed the sucker. Glad I found it when I did – if it had exploded while up in the cabinet, we would have had one heckuva mess to clean up!

Marla – I’m still laughing at your story!!!! What I wanna know is...what explanation did Mom give? I had a similar thing happen to me, except mine not only makes “noise”, it….umm, wiggles as well! Glad to hear that you didn’t get flooded out too bad and that your place survived the storm. One thing about Texas and Arkansas…storms are big there! Great idea to have a neighborhood BBQ though..what a great way to use up the food that might otherwise spoil faster! One thing I love about you is how you turn negatives into positives. I’m working on that myself, with DA’s help. Married too long to an ahole and it rubbed off on me.

Rita – Mmmmmm, taco salads….still haven’t had a good one and Mitz mentioned them long ago. Think I’m going to have to make them next week while on Induction. As for TOM…I shuddered just thinking about him. My calendar shows I’m due on July 1st…just in time for me and DA’s 4th “anniversary”…Oh Joy! If it’s anything like the last one, he’ll come 2 days early, and then Wham! I’ll be spending the next 3 days in bed, whimpering from pain, and then he’ll stick around another 2 at least. Keep your fingers crossed!

Patt - Bikes are good exercise and you could always go out with your neighbor. I got on my nephew’s bike, trying to show him how to ride. He’ s such a “I can’t do it” kid so I’m trying to build his confidence a little. Anyway, it was weird, as I hadn’t ridden for years and years. Still got the balance though. I personally don’t like bikes for exercise..they hurt my tailbone too much.

Michelle – I must admit Arkansas was really pretty when I went through it. It had been years, since before I left for Africa I lived in the southern part of Arkansas as a child. Had forgotten how pretty it is.

It’s a beautiful day today and I’m going to spend it doing laundry and vacuuming. This place is bad right now – this high up all the dust comes through the windows and settles. Once I get all this stuff out of the way, I can do the gym starting tomorrow and get back into a routine. That’s part of my problem..am on DA’s schedule which is weird enough but don’t have a routine down either. I’m a routine type of person.

It’s funny, but as I sit here to type this post this morning, I can’t even remember everything I was typing last night that I lost. What a pain! Oh well..it’ll come to me. DA is not wanting to get to work this morning since it’s so pretty outside and the breeze is flying through the windows but he should be gone in about an hour and I’ll be getting myself together and start on chores. Dinner tonight is London broil (I’ve had it marinating in the fridge since yesterday) and caulimash and steamed green beans. Thought about doing the caulimash as twice baked faux-tatoes, but not sure. If anybody has a good recipe that is tried and true, I’d appreciate it. If not, I’ll stick with George Stella’s – I got it out of his book. Using Neufchatel instead of cream cheese though.

DA is going to book our ticket for the dance cruise on the Hudson for Friday night and then on Saturday night, we have “Bollywood Night” at Dorrians – they have Indian food, and updated Indian music for the Indian community here (which is rather large) so we plan on going there for a couple of hours. One things that’s nice about it is we can go and then come home after an hour or two since it’s only 2 blocks away. DA reckons it’s time to have a weekend off – he needs some mental relaxation.

That’s about all for me. I’m going to run through some more temp positions online while laundry is going and also got one of those spring loaded bath caddies to put in the corner of the tub so need to assemble that today. We don’t have enough room for all of our stuff in there. I told DA last night that another criterion for an apartment is also a double sink in the kitchen. Am making my list still!
Talk to you gals later.

Vi – How are you holding up sweetie?

Mitz? Connie? You guys okay?

Not yet...

Bella - haven't seen it yet but plan to do so at some point..I loved the series (although I haven't seen many of the episodes) and am interested in it even more since living here.

Am sitting here eating a Toufayan wrap with scrambled egg, garlic gouda and an italian sausage patty, all rolled up inside for my brunch. VERY nice! Patt - have you tried this brand? They're great - don't even break up and are stretchy to accomodate the filling. They have all sorts of products too. Am going to check them out online, but the local store carries all sorts of things from them. I just don't know how many items they have that are low carb.
Thinking they would be good substitutes for DA's breads, etc..

Must run and look up cauli recipes....already did 4 loads of laundry and have 3 to go but those are sheets, towels, etc. that can be done tomorrow...oh..wait a minute...gotta be done today - going to gym in the morning!

ttyl!

here I am--have been "flirting" with Atkins while doing low carb the past couple of weeks (am down almost 10 pounds over the last 3 months but knew that I'd have to pick a time and get into genuine Induction. Got out DENDR and made my shopping list last night and headed out to our local supermarket. This is Day One for me!

When I got home and unpacked my goodies to put away, I felt like I was in the middle of an Artsy Food Photo--all my pretty fresh veggies and the pretty pink frozen shrimp spread out on the counter--so colorful and appetizing. Started off the day with a little fresh pico de gallo in the skillet, crumbled in a small sausage pattie and then added my high Omega 3 egg. It was SOO good! DH doesnt eat exactly the way I do--still eats bread and white potatoes and cereals-- but he is great about accepting whatever I want to do about cooking for myself or eating strictly low-carb, thank goodness (and he is a great, and willing, cook himself which helps a lot.) . For instance, he cant eat shrimp but doesnt mind my plans for a fab shrimp salad dinner for myself tonight.

My only problem will be not eating fruit while on induction. I love it and know that it feeds my "sweet tooth" so must not open the crisper drawer where DH keeps his stash of white seedless grapes.

Another challenge facing me: restaurant meals out on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. We will be in places that offer some kind of meat and a salad so think I will be alright as I have lately formed the habit of NOT getting dessert or sides of bread. (The bread may be a bit harder to give up but I know I can do it!)

Part of my motivation to get going seriously on a wiser WOL now is that is that our 2 daughters and husbands (and 1 DGD 20 years old) will be here in mid-August and they all love to hike and be active, so I want to be able to join them this year withut huffing and puffing. If I can just get down close to 160 it will help a lot (I'm 5'6") The daughters are taller and are size 6 and 8 respectively and dont "diet" but eat very sensibly and they walk everywhere --the younger one, size 8, also works out at the gym to keep from being "hippy."

This is such a great board and I have learned so much from all of you through my recent and constant lurking over the the past 3-4 months! I know I will make it this time and keep at it. I have faith that this place will be my "vaccination" against re-gaining.

PS--thanks to all the helpful posts about exercise, I have ordered beginning Callanetics and will also order some of the TTapp basic DVD's.

HI!

Hi Maizen and to our Thread! You should be able to do it - sounds like you have your "game face" on already!

Guys,
I've kinda slowed down this afternoon - not wanting to do anything. A nice storm just popped up here and cooled everything down to the low 70's (i think) and I have all my windows open. Need to get up and vacuum the rug (it's disgusting!) and then start dinner. Have 3 more loads of laundry to do but will do that tomorrow afternoon.

Made the reservations for the cruise on Friday (Boarding at 8pm, casting off at 9pm and dance til midnight) and DA's coworker and his girlfriend are going to go as well. Reggie has been mulling over getting a ring for his GF and DA has kindly supplied him with all of his research. Of course, I egg him on too - it's fun making a man feel a wee bit uncomfortable.

I have looked on some of the job sites and have sent out 5 resumes so far but no response at all - not even a confirmation, so thinking about just contacting an agency directly and going from there. Something about all this online applications - it's so dang impersonal!

Okay - procrastination is my name today, clearly....time to get moving! Besides, I noticed, as I ran across the street to get an iced coffee, that my legs are grossly hairy and here I am in shorts! So add "jumping into the shower and shaving" as part of my afternoon's repertoire as well. Might as well be purty for DA when he gets home....hmmm, might lead to other things....(nope, haven't gotten tired of it yet! Stil ltrying to get caught up!Talk to me in about a year or so. )

Later!

Hi there!
We went to a fun event last night. It was a fuindraiser for the Women's fund here and it was held at a ranch with a cowboy theme. Nice silent auction, lots of music and a steak/chicken dinner. It was a gorgeous evening and a gret setting. They had beautiful horses! several of our friends were there. So it was fun! Today I had to attend a meeting 2 1/2 hours a way. That's a lot of driving for one day...and a lot of gas!
It's a warm and humid one here today. I went out to water everything after work, but didn't want to hang around out there! I'll go back out in a bit to throw a pork tenderloin on the grill. DH actually bought some sweet corn, so I'll cave i and have one! I had just a salad for lunch today so I won't feel guilty about it!

Stevie....your lasagna sounded wonderful! I'll have to make it one of these days...but in the fall when it's cooler. I seldom turn on the oven in the summer! Funny about the Kim chi! Yes, you are lucky it didn't explode in the cupboard! Sounds like you are staying busy and I'm starting to envy your schedule! That "running across the street for iced coffee" got to me! How nice it must be to get a chance to stay home and putter around! I bet it's a nice break for you after all the long hurs you put in at your job!
Yes, I have had the Toufayan and love it! I can find it at a few places around here.
Maizen..welcome! Sounds like you are all set to go! Good luck! I also mis fruit on induction..especially in the summer! I like to get the induction over with so I can have berries again! strawberries are just now in season here and they have been wonderful! (Sorry...I shouldn't tempt you!) It's great to have a goal like kids coming home to get you motivated!
Where ahs everyone else gone???? We haven't heard from Connie in awhile. I wonder if she gave up on posting here? Mitz is MIA too! Hmmmm..
Tomorrow I plan to shop a little after work. All the summer sales are on already! Dawned on me I should get some stuff now for our trip to SC/GA in the fall. There will only be wool around here by then! And I'm sure it will still be quite warm down there.
See ya later!

Hey all!

Patt - Yeah, slow thread right now. We don't have the heat you are getting right now although it is humid somewhat. Pork tenderloin sounds really good! Mybe I'll do one for next week. DA grew up on a farm in Zambia (a pig/chicken/cow/dairy farm) and is somehat spoiled by the taste of fresh pork and doesn't really like the pork you get here in the States but think I'm gonna get some!

I had an interesting day. Our dining room was delivered first thing this morning (it's in boxes and DA is over in his chair now, reviewing the instructions to put it together - we bought it online). Then I went over to the gym and got a free 5 days to "make up your mind". It's $77 a month with no contract (but a $49 sign-up fee) and they only deal with individual contracts - no family memberships. DA had told me, when I asked him this morning, to go ahead and signup for family membership but they rake in the bucxks on the individual. I let him know the terms and it's up to hiim if he wants to do it.

I returned home and got on Careerbuilder and Monster and started job searching in ernest. Ran into a problem - my resume was written in Word 2007 and it's not compatible (even if you save it as a 97-03 doc.) with a lot of places that require you to upload your resume to their server. It was a huge pain and I got more frustrated so ended up goikng to the Mall and hte book store there and got a "Vista for Dummies" and a "Word 2007 for Dummies" there to start learning. I need to know how to do all this stuff! Afterwards, I came home, ate a hamburger patty and some of my wonderful Loadaed Potato Casserole for lunch, I hit the gym to check it out. I do NOT like their elliptical machines, which is not a good thing, since, as you know, that's my main cardio. Also, I went to the weight room, and I cannot even change the settings on teh machines -they are a different kind than what I'm used to, and I'm NOT mechanically inclined, remember? If I join, however, IK'll have one PT session and guess what questions I'll be asking him? They also don't have the range of equipment i"m used to BUT...they are across the street, and they have an indoor pool for laps, AND a sun deck near the pool where you can lay out if you want. So, like anyting, there are pros and cons.

Got back hoe and checked email - actually got a response from someone asking me to send him my resume in WORD so I gladly obliged. Then got a call form someone else ( a recruiting company) asking me to do the same thing, and seeing if I was interested in a job til October. However, they want "large law firm experience" which I don't have, and the nthe idiot didn't even notice that I don't have corporate experience. However, I will count all this as a positive - at least I heard SOMETHING!!!! I was beginning to get worriedl

talked to DA tonight - I have to go out and get an "interview suit" and I really don't want to, since I'm back in the game to lose this weight. However, I don't have much choice. OWnder where there's a Goodwill store? I wil have to go out starting tomorrow to get one suit, 2 tops, and a pair of sensible pumps. Dunno if I'll be required to dress like that, but when I went to downtown Manhattan, it was "suits"....

Eating is so far OP but gotta learn to stay away from Starbucks. I have an es[presso macchiato in the mornings nad then a red eye in the afternoons (iced unsweetened coffee with a shot of expresso over ice) - I add one Splenda and 1/2 oz of half n half to it. It's getting addictive, not to mention expensive so will startt making my own. Da doesn't drink coffee at home anyway, and I can make a pot to last me a couple of days for the afternoon iced coffees! They are so refreshing! I lost all my Da Vinci syrups in the move (to my sister) so will keep it simple. Dinner tonight was leftover lc lasagna with a side salad. Tonight it will be leftover london broil with cauli salad nad Dreamfield's rotini greek pasta salad. A cold foods night - perfect for summer!

Tomorrow I also have to plan what I'm going to wear for Friday night on the boat. I have a new dress that's been sitting in the wings for this that I bought at Le Chateau (saw their clothes in the Mall today and still love them!) and will wear that but need to figure out if I should wear gold flats or backless heels. The heels will be hard to dance in, but I figure I'll end up taking them off anyway so, in that regard, maybe I should just go with flats? I'll go with whatever makes me look skinner. got an email from the cruise line today giving me a discount for their 4th of July cruise. The problem is..we already said "yes" to friends down in South Jersey to spend the day at their house. Can you imagine? $th of July on the Hudson, watching the fireworks go off over the Statue of Liberty? Hm, hard decision!

Gotta run - DA just got the table together (it looks AB FAB!!!!) and is working on the chairs. Now, if he can just go through the stuff that needs to go to storage so that the enw table can be put into place! (It's sitting under the old table...)

Luv ya'll...getting back on track and feeling better...one day at a time.

Oh...Mitz????? GET YO AZZ BACK IN HERE and start posting! (I always worry oin you backsliding when you disappear...I know all about it...I do the same.. Luv ya doll!)

Bye all! Ciao!

WOE: Whatever works!
Hello Ladies!
Sorry to be MIA for so long! I was a baaad Mitz from Thurs until Sunday, falling off the wagon with a thump heard across America! I had been beer-free From May 6th until then, but a premature celebration did me in. We thought that Pete had found another job (he hates his boss at the school) and we bought some beer and a pizza to celebrate on Thurs. night and then the prospective new boss called Pete on Friday a.m. and said he was worried about a "conflict of interest"! Pete said hey, I'll quit if that's the problem. Then the guy mentioned the $16,000 contract he has with the school and was afraid that Pete's boss would cancel the contract if he discovered Pete had gone to this other company. Pete would have been the tech to cover the school so there goes that prospect out the window! Soooo, I got drunk and carbed out for no good reason! I was as He!! at myself, too! I sure did not fondly welcome the hangover I had on Friday! We just continued on like that for the rest of the weekend, but mainly with bad food like chinese take-out and such. Anyway, it's over and done with- water under the bridge!

So, 2 clean days under my belt and feeling better already. I have my annual tomorrow at 2 pm which will set off another round of appt's for a mammo and the dermotologist. I also need to take Jake to a specialist to look at his lower legs. They have not straightened out and he is looking pretty knock-kneed. I don't know what they do about that, but for his sake, I hope it doesn't involve an operation. The way they are now he has no problem runnning or doing all the sneaky little things he does like getting into cleaning the tolilet with the toilet brush. I have to hide the dang thing from him! One night he managed to grab it and had it in the tub with him! Try explaining to a 3.5 yr old about germs! He doesn't like bugs so from now on I'll tell him they're bugs all over it!

I really wanted to do indies as i haven't in so long but it's raining like cats and dogs and thundering so I'm gonna say sayonara until tom
