Success on Induction - please outline a typical menu adding to 20 or less carbs pls?

I'm asking all of you who have done induction to the letter -- could you please list a sample menu day with the net carb totals so I can get an idea of what a typical day looks like without going over the carb count?

TIA --- I'm waiting on my DANDR book order but want to get started ASAP.

This will help me tons as I tend to overdo meats, cheeses and dairy and have not been great over the years with eating veggies. Although, I do love butter and oils and seasonings on veggies...and full fat dressings.

TIA

on any given day i eat:
b: breakfast sausages, 2 eggs, cheese
l: chicken breast w cucumber & tomato salad, italian dressing on top
d: steak with buttered mushrooms
snack: cucumbers, pepperette, anything legal

Not too sure the exact carb count but you can plug your menu into the daily plate or fitday and it will help you

Looks like smaller portions than I'm used to. Hopefully when I do my 'clean induction' I won't get too hungry. I really tend to overdo meats and cheese so I'll have to watch that. Looks like the veggie portions are very small. I was thinking that 20 grams would be alot more veggies.

I totally need to read the book! I may cancel my amazon.ca order and just go to the bookstore tomorrow and hopefully DANDR will be in stock there. I want to start a 'clean induction' after my good grocery shop -- and I so don't want to overdo anything or do it incorrectly.

It may not look like much at first glance but with the added fats it really fills you up. The eggs are fried in bacon grease. My salads contain lots of mayo, the steak is grilled but I have about 2tbs of garlic butter and I use evoo on the asparagus.

I would check a second hand store like Value Village or Goodwill. Anytme I have looked they always have some copies. The added bonus is that you can get one for like a buck or two.

u can sometimes find DANDR at the grocery store too in the magazine/book aisle.

it I think tells you for induction to do 2 cups of green salad veggies and then 1 c of other non carby veggies and that will cover your veggie carbs.

I ate a lot more than that when on induction (now too)
Induction was :
4 eggs scabbled
coffee equal and heavy cream
Lunch: 400 gram grilled chicken with dijon mustard, 1 cup lettuce with .5 tablespoon mayo
snack 4 egg whites with garlic salt
dinner: two round steaks and two or three turkey burgers
late night snack: 1 can tuna with dijon, mayo, lettuce, onion and tomato (sometimes other veggies mixed in too)
I drank one coofee, no alcohol, and only water all day. I took a ton of vitamins that Atkins reccommends, plus my thyroid medicine.
It worked cause I was never hungry, I am almost too thin right now (lost 60 pounds)but, as you can see, I eat a ton.
I workout everyday (30 cardio, 30 weights).
Hope that helps.

I felt like I was overeating the first couple of days on induction. Every time I turned around I was grabbing a hard boiled egg or tuna salad from fridge... not to mention all the cheeseburgers I was eating. After 3 - 5 days though your appetite really does drop off and you stay fuller longer with less.

Watch your carbs on cheese, cream etc., but otherwise I wouldn't worry about quantities of meats etc., eat until full (don't stuff yourself) whether it be 3 oz of steak or 20.

Thanks Suzanne!! That gives me a better idea as I do have a great appetite and I love meat and could eat that supper you posted no problem. I'm excited to hear about portions being more toward what I enjoy Awesome success btw I hope I continue to lose. I'm down 2 lbs. since last Thurs.

Thanks ragtop... Yes, I'll need to watch cream and cheeses as I love those! I'll have to have bigger meat portions for sure. I need to do more grocery shopping this week for some meat and chicken. I want to make chicken wings a staple during the week and can't wait to try them and grilled breast for ceasar salads ...and of course steak!

I must admit, I kinda get annoyed at people always commenting on how much I eat. I had chicken breasts (400 grams) for dinner and we came home from soccer tonight and I was still hungry so I grilled up two round steaks...my husband almost fell over, he was like "how can you eat so much???"
Father's day was a BBQ and the first 5 minutes was a discussion on how much I eat. Atkins said the same thing, he had a big appetite and that is why this worked for him too. All I know is I eat a ton, I am super thin and fit, I have high energy, and my blood work is perfect. Sometimes I think Atkins is too good to be true.

Ok, that's totally me....LOL! People need to just back off and mind their own business. I get angry when people comment to me as it's a trigger for me. Sometimes I tell them that...mind their own business and pay attention to what they are doing! My bf does that from time to time, but he usually knows better as I just get mad and tell him 'so what'. I let people know if they are family to leave me alone too! Then, if I'm not eating much if I'm not feeling well...I get asked what is wrong. Gee...can't win. But as someone with a former E.D...most close people to me know it and lay off the commentary as I'm very sensitive around my food in general. I need to be totally relaxed with my own eating and do what I please and then things are ok for the most part. Your family is very insensitive to be bothering you at all... It's not nice to talk about someone's behaviours in a negative way. You need to feel good and enjoy! And from my perspective....it is SUPER to hear that I'm not alone in the appetite department! Especially with my liking of any meats! I love meat and especially steak on the BBQ. It's nothing for me to polish off 2 big ones freshly made...YUM!!! Ok, I want steak now...lol...kinda seriously

My in laws are all over weight and very uneducated about food and diet, but the comments still bother me. I mean, do we have to bring it up at ever meal? I get it, I eat a lot. I know it freaks them out cause I am pretty skinny looking (I have very boney arms) and always seems to have double the food on my plate than the biggest guys at the table, of course mine is all meat and they have potatoes and the such. But, I always make a point of staying in the room long after the meal cause I know if I went to be alone or use the bathroom, the bulimia rumours would start...

OMG...how mean and insensitive of them! They should know you've recovered from that already... Some people honestly don't feel good unless they are talking about someone else. Sounds like they need to focus on their own health too. Why can't they just 'know' you and understand you've healed from all that... Anyways, I feel for you as having an ED in the past holds enough triggers and awareness...they don't need to remind you of anything. And actually, what they are doing is not condusive to healing and feeling good. Have you ever told them that...or are they the type of people like my family who just does and thinks what they want anyway? I don't go to family dinners anymore as there is way too much drama and I'm the type to speak up and none of them likes that.... They all just want to keep thinking and acting how they always do, and don't like if anyone 'causes a scene' or brings up any negative confrontations. People can really be hurtful sometimes and be so oblivious to it.

I am 37 years old, so at this point I just do not care that much anymore, plus for the first time in my life I am ED free and eating great, so I have the confidence to ignore it.

btw... I should add... that while I would plan 3 meals a day, I would usually only end up eating breakfast, dinner and maybe a snack.

I would always prepare everything in advance. Once a month I would do things like make soups and freeze them, bake a quiche and freeze it. I would prepare all my salads a couple of days in advance, like on Sunday I would make salads for Mon, Tues and Wed etc.

I found that I had to make menus in advance to help keep me organized and because I have a fussy eater who refuses to eat the same thing twice!

I freeze leftovers or sometimes I might have them for lunch or a snack the next day.

Keep in mind the menu was just an example of what I would plan out.

I also made things like currys, alfredo sauces, use capers a lot, pork chops etc.

Sometimes I will plan a type of regional menu and each day would be recipes from some area of the world (modified somewhat if necessary)

But I also love to cook and love to play around with different recipes etc.

I understand not everyone loves to cook as much as I do lol.

WOW....ihow inspiring!! You have a yummy menu I usually only cook a few times a week and the rest is grabbing stuff or making easy things to whip up. But, you've certainly given me some great ideas! I love Alfredo sauce too and hope to make some pan fried chicken and drizzle that all over. Mmmm...thanks for the delicious looking ideas!

You look amazing, I don't see that anyone would have much validity to any comments regarding your habits, considering your results...I have a long way to go before I have to worry about being too thin but you rock.

christina I know I am only a about a month longer than you, and I am alot larger but I am down between May 1st and today from 370 to 342 so it works, I love that you are looking for ideas and staying positive. Keep up the great work.

I ate any proteins I needed to at first and didn't watch portions after the first week I lost most of my desire to eat, I have to remind myself its time to eat now, I used to be hungry (or thought I was) all the time.
