Somersweet will be on TSC in Canada this week -- is this an ok sweetner?

WOW....years ago I would have killed to see Somersweet here in Canada!!! I loved that stuff and would have continued to buy it if it was here. Mind you, looking at it now, it is expensive. And, when I got it it was in little packets that never hardened like the 2 cans I had.

Sooooo...my big question is....is this a good sweetner? It will be on TSC in Canada this Thurs. and Friday and I'm wondering if I should get some? Suzanne is also bringing other Somersize products for a LC WOE. So far I can see the carmel sauce duo jar set, Somersweet, triple fudge hot sauce, brownie mix, salsa dips, salt rubs and an apple cinnamon mix.

Any feedback on Somersweet or the other products? I think the other products would be good if you are maintaining on LC....but I'm wondering about the fudge sauce and caramel sauce....and the Somersweet. I thought I read somewhere that Somersweet had ingredients that weren't allowed????

TIA

ingredients are

SomerSweet™ (Oligofructose, Inulin, Fructose, Sprouted Mung Bean Extract, Acesulfame K).
there is a lot of misinformation about fructose out there.

since insulin isn't needed for metabolism of fructose to produce energy diabetics are supposed to be able to use it as a sweetner.

however fructose can be used in the body to also make glucose which when fractured will use insulin so it isn't a total free pass.
also the absorbtion rate of fructose by our small intestines goes up the more of it we eat so be aware of that adaptation factor too.

since it is almost twice as sweet tasting as glucose the theory is you will use less of it to sweeten your foods then you would table sugar.

you should also be aware what isn't absorbed in your small intestine will be metabolized by your gut bacteria to fatty acids and gases and you can get bloated from it.

Maybe I'll just stick w/ Sugar Twin then... Somersweet was good as I recall...but it is expensive and may not be worth it. Interesting info, thanks!
