Please be careful about doing this so readily, Dr. A said specifically that it's definitely not for everybody. Special caution to many of the new folks around here who don't know all the details of the Fat Fast.
Caution: The Fat Fast is actually dangerous for anyone who is not metabolically resistant. For people who lose weight fairly easily, the rate of weight loss is too rapid to be safe. Be safe. |

im going to do it for 3 days initially and then im going to see what kind of results i can get by alternating the fat fast with low carb, meaning alternating days... 1 day fat fast and the next low carb that way i will still get alot of protein every other day... Im thinking i should get outstanding results! i was just under the 1100 calorie mark. I drink pepsi one (to take my vitamins) cuz it has splenda and not aspartame and LOTS OF WATER! Ill report back to let you know what the results are... |

there are several threads from folk who tried the fat fast lost weight but then binged afterwards and regained it all plus more.
Snowrose is metabolically resistant and has thyroid issues and did the fat fast alternating with a week of induction eating for most of her weight loss she then alteranted OWl with it until her metabolism finally corrected itself. you might talk with her about it. |

When I water fasted for 14 days, I didn't add food slowly back into my regimen like I planned...
instead I stuffed myself! It isn't so unlikely to do if you feel deprived. I am doing the fat fast right now and feel completely satiated. That is definitely a good thing about it. I will post back my results in a few days. |

Well we all lack control when it comes to food that's why we are here. Binging is a real disorder not just some decision we make to throw our diets out the window. Any time you eat very low cal or do the fat fast you are setting yourself up to binge (or perhaps overeat later) the body will balance itself out to survive. Low carbing is healthy and gives you plenty of cals so you will find yourself with a lot of control that you may have not had with other diets. But beware of the fat fast if you don't really need it.

otoh, for me at least, while binge-eating is now related to or manifested in cycles of dieting to some degree, in many other ways it is not related at all to food, if that makes sense. it has to do with other emotional issues, as i believe NYgiants stated earlier. it is an addiction and a coping mechanism, among other things. i've struggled with it for more than 1/2 my life, i'm 34. why its food vs. washing my hands a million times or something is beyond me... ![]() Last edited by amiga74 : 05-14-2008 at 05:48 PM. |

if lack of self control = binge eating
what do we call not eating more than 800 calories a day for over 20 years and even then only eating only the stuff I was told to eat (low fat, loads of carbs... and feeling hungry 90% of the time) only to find in 20 years I have put on 90lbs? sometimes self control can be a problem too ![]() |

I thought you had to stick to the foods DR Atkins recomends? 2ounces beef chuck-2eggs 2 strips of bacon-quarter cup of tuna or chicken with mayo.300 calories a piece for 1200 cals in the day?I like your gals menu better give me more ,like how much portion size of each items.I weigh 300LBS so i need to lose as fast as i can for health reasons not vanity.

tha fat fast is a fast done eationg 90% pf your calls in the form of protein with 1000 cals total for the day.
Dr Atkins developed it based on a study he saw that eating fat alone gave the largest weight loss for the same cals and time. Orginally dr Atkins thought it could be used to break stalls and for the metabolically resistant but seeing his patients doing it he altered his posistion to say it was ONLY for the metabolically resistant as the rapid weight loss caused by the plan is dangerous for those not resitant to weight loss. (those who lose very little or none in induction 14 days). Then after your days on the fat fast he has a modified fat fast 1250 cals and then a return to induction as the recommended steps.

For me, i eat 2 eggs scrambled with cheese cooked in butter with 3-4 slices of bacon, a handful of macademia nuts, a handful of sunflower seeds, 2-3 chunks of cheese, 1 oz. cream cheese and big spoonfuls of peanut butter. I alternate those foods every 2 hours starting at 8 in the morning until 6 at night for approx 1200+ cals and it works very well for me. Drinking lots of water and no exercise. When i went shopping for this i just looked for what had the highest fat ratio. Ive done the fat fast before eating low carb ice cream from safeway, the lucerne brand. I DONT recommend it, but i did lose weight that way as well because of the fat ratio. Ill look on the internet for some really great fat fast menus as there is a lot of variety for doing it. |
