I'm inducting, too! Can I join you guys? I am in Day 3 of induction. I have been waiting for the "flu", but so far, I am feeling pretty good.

My menu plan for today is:

B - cream cheese muffin
L - 5oz parmesan-crusted fried catfish, Linda Sue's Just Stuffed Like Baked Potatoes
S - Cheese crisps (about an ounces of crisped cheese cubes)
D - 4 baked chicken wings w. 1c of brussell sprouts (w. plenty of extra virgin olive oil)
S - Linda's Fruitless Fruit Leather

and whatever else my appetite decides on!

Helloooooo everyone! I am soooo happy I have buddies doing this with me!

Jenna. It sure does like most of us are pretty similar in where we started and where we are but lets not let this get the best of us! We will be in onderland in no time!! DEAL?

Crystalmoon - Welcome. Welcome. Welcome. Have you read the Atkins book(s) yet? They are really helpful but talking to real people is even better imo. I like getting help and guidance from people who have been there done that so please feel free to ask away! Thats what we are here for

Welcome Toby! Glad to see you here with us. Looks like you are off to a great start.

Jeanessa - Welcome! Please continue to post your eats. I love getting ideas from others. My menu is soooo boring in comparison to yours. I have to say, I am a tad jealous

Thanks for the encouraging words 2big and backatit!

Soooo here is my starting weight: 209
I need to get in gear! I am glad I am here with you guys. It will help me stick to plan. So far this is what I have eaten:

Breakfast: Omlette w/green peppers, tomatoes, onioins, chihuahua cheese and ham. CL. Coffee w/ 4 splendas and 3 tbs of heavy cream. (I plan to lower my coffee intake eventually just not ready for it yet )

Lunch: I bought a salad with ranch dressing and chicken. I was FAMISHED from all the walking I have done so I was scarfing down the meal and came to realize the chicken was slightly battered in what I assume to be bread crumbs I was sooo mad. I pulled out the remainder of the chicken and ate just the greens and such. I should know better and MAKE MY OWN MEALS! It's the only way I could stay on plan.

Dinner? TBD

Thats it for now. I also plan on taking in at least 2 miles a day. I am staying away from weights (I know it's not the BEST decision I have made) until I get below 200 lbs. After that I will re-evaluate my decision to not lift for the time being....

WE CAN DO THIS YOU GUYS!!!!!!

hey 12yrslater sweetners are limited in induction to 3 total servings a day so to start off right it should be 3 packets not 4 in that coffee. sorry bout your chicken but atleast you learned a valuble lesson early ask about what is in a food before you order it and check it before you leave to be sure it is the low carb stuff you want. My tea arrived full of sugar this morning and I had already left the drive through so I had to go back and request a do over cup. just to be sure the fixer had made the booboo the new server tasted the tea to be sure the unsweet hadn't been containinated. It was obvious it was unsweet from the look on her face, now that was service.

As much as I appreciate this, that's the only thing I do not give up during induction. Coffee/creamer/and splenda. I have lost well with it in my diet. However, I know this eventually will be a staller and will have to give it up Not yet tho'. Not yet

I started today as well. So far, as of now I have done pretty good. I ate a little too much for dinner but it was venison chili so I don't feel that guilty just that I ate too much.

Hi everyone! I've been doing induction about 10 days, so I'm still very new, and learning. Lost a couple pounds last week, but somehow had 4 cookies at a party over the weekend so I'm almost back to square one. I could kick myself!! Anyway, back on and focused. I bought a George Foreman grill today so I can whip up a piece of chicken as I cook my hubby and kiddos something they won't get tired of!!

Jeanessa, your menu looks so wonderful!! Where did you find all of those great recipes?

Good luck to everyone!

Austintam - Welcome

Skoolmarm729 - Thank you for the support. Looks like you are doing AWESOME!!! Kudos....

Siggie - HELLO

Coupon101(love the name and would love to hear the story behind it )
Welcome...

Coupon (and all who have not searched threads) there are SOOO many recipe posts here that it can make your head spin! Some are easier than others and those are the ones I tend to stick to. One of my fav 'cooks' is Linda Sue. I have tried many of her dishes and most were pretty easy and yummy!

Well, I did pretty good yesterday considering we went out to dinner. We hit Denny's last night BUT I ate low carb

So, how often are you guys weighing? Are any of you incorporating exercise into transforming the new you?

Talk to me

Morning, well, one day down. I wanted to badly eat after dinner, but I just said NO! Also for me sometimes the first 3 days go pretty smoothly then my body says "WOW" I need some junk... so that's what I'm on the lookout for - the devil on my shoulder whispering in my ear that I can start again tomorrow

But I did go to sleep thinking how much less volume I ate yesterday compared to the entire month before. It's pretty amazing - to me - when I can remember exactly what I ate the day before.

Good luck to everyone!

Poated in other thread but wanted to transfer over here also

First and foremost: Get the book, read the book, do it by the book. (This is for Atkins Induction)

I started back on induction yesturday also. Just look at my stats and signature to see what can happen when you go off plan for a month.

A sixteen pound gain.

It works if you do it by the book. I just purchased an updated book and I am going to re- read it again so I stay on the induction 100% all the way this time. I cannot "tweak" it to my liking or I will cheat and be on a carboholic binge again.

I purchased a wonderful "workbook" type of journal to help in my Atkins weightloss to log everything from pics to measurements to foods to emotions, exercise, dress sizes, etc. etc. If you want info on that then P M me and I will gladly give it to you.

Also check out sugarfreeshelia.com
She offers so much insight and information about Atkins. She is a LCF here on the boards.

I have been having egg creams for my breakfast and lunch this time around.
They are so simple to make and taste great and keep me full. Here is the recipe I use:

2 eggs
2 Tbls. heavy whipping cream
sugar free DaVinci's flavored syrup to taste-I use vanilla
6 oz. water

Blend it up in your mixer or magic bullet and enjoy. And NO you cannot get salmanella from raw eggs this way. the bacteria would be on the shells and they are washed and you can wash them before breaking if you wish. I read a whole bunch of info in this in the other threads about egg creams. You do not taste the egg and it is not slimy. it is a nice smooth creamy shake. I am hooked on 'em.

So I have been using the egg creams for my breakfast and lunch and then having vegies for snacks and having a protein and vegie for dinner. They are about 3 carbs per shake the way I make them. Make sure you use heavey whipping cream. Not whipping cream and not half and half. it has less carbs.

Also make yourself some oopsie rolls created by another member on here (Chleo), you will be so happy with htese if you are a bread lover. I will post the recipe later if you want it. You can make sandwiches out of them or french toast and sweet rolls. They are delish!!!

Glad to have you here. This is a wonderful place for support, advice, and many great ideas. Post often and ask questions.

Hi everyone
I lost 1lb yesterday & I wasnt even on proper induction yippee
Im going cold turkey on sugar, all grains & flour products, all breakfast cereals, pasta & starchy veggies, sweets & chocolates, etc. I have always had a real problem with fresh bread & chocolate, never able to stop eating them once I pop just one piece in my mouth so I think I had better stay away from any low carb equivalent products for now incase it triggers cravings for the 'real' things.
Ive started to read Atkins 1973 version & have a pretty clear idea of what I can eat on induction.
One thing Im unsure about is that Atkins talks about having zero carbs on induction yet it also says 20g carbs
I havent read the whole book yet so may be getting it all wrong but does 20g carbs seem like zero carbs to the body or am i supposed to eat zero carbs for a couple of days so my body uses up its store of glucose

Ive just finished reading Gary Taubes 'Diet Delusion', it has totally taken away any concerns I had about living a low carb lifestyle. The health authorities here still go on about Atkins not being healthy cos of the fat, which is just nonsense

Hope evryone is doing well today xxxx

Atkins induction is 20 carbs per day with 10-15 of those carbs coming from induction legal vegies. read the book, it will help alot.

actually DolphinsOnMyMind the carbs will depend on the book/version you use.
the 10-15 number isn't in any pre 2003 book rules

Crystalmoon finish reading your book and if that is the plan you are going to use then follow those induction rules. Sometimes Dr Atkins words can confuse folk like when he talks about foods that are a mix of carbs fats and proteins and he says no carbs are allowed so you can't have those foods. He meant the carbs in those foods are not allowed in induction so you can't include them then. You will be able to add those kinds of foods later in the OWL phase foods like seeds nuts legumes and grains all have proteins carbs and fats in them just not induction kinds of very low glycemic index carbs.

furkid woo hoo for you holding out on that wanting. Think of yourself like a drug addict in withdrawls. you know having it will undo the hard work you have done and the jonesing for it will stop when you are eating clean for a while. you can do it.

As for the exercise Dr Atkins is quoted in DANDR 2002 as saying if you are not exercising you are not doing his plan so I hope all of y'all are doing the mandatory aerobic and resistance training exercise part of your Atkins. Take a walk climb a flight of stairs do some isometrics at your desk do crunches while you watch tv, replace your chair with a fitness ball and get a workout all day long, park at the rear of the lot do a lap around the store before you buy anything, heck even put up the laundry one item at a time. there are many mnay ways to sneak exercise into your normal routine

Thanks TwoBig for clearing up my confusion, I see now that the 1973 version is different to the DANDR (Ive got both books). Im reading the '73 version first so will stick with that for now.

Had my gym induction today as part of my new approach to living life the low carb way We did the aerobic cardio stuff today. Im meeting my trainer on Friday to work out a weights/resistance circuit too. Have also bought a rebounder to use at home & a Reebok Step so I can move when Im watching TV instead of becoming a munching blob like I used to be

Hope evryone has a great night

Hi everyone. Just checking in to say yesterday was not too bad for the 1st day of induction. I am currently unemployed so I slept pretty much literally all day long which helped me to not eat when I didn't need to but I can not do that everyday because I really, really, really need to find a job, and fast.

For breakfast I had bacon and hard boiled eggs and some pecans
lunch is some venison sausage patties
dinner: haven't gotten there yet but I think it will be some broccoli and some pork tenderloin.

Thanks to all that are here for support.
