Hi Mary! How fun your trip will be. Are you going this weekend or sometime soon?
The monsoon is finally here. We're scheduled to get anytime this week too. The humidity is around 47% and dew point is at 63 F. It's not that bad, but I know my hair is going to be one big frizz ball!

Hi Christina, Whoohooo on the 3lbs! I hope that sticks!! I hope therapy helps you with your back pain and that it goes well for you.

Hi Tiff, a good positive attitude goes a long way, especially with school!! I think that's great, I hope that rubs off on me too!! Oh and it is good to see you back here too!!!

Hi Chris, I love that article about the wine. That's great too know! I had two bottles that I left behind here. I wanted something to keep at home. But since I'm doing induction, none for me until 2 weeks.
I pray DH is doing well too!!

Hi Jen, and Bingo was your name-o Sorry, I couldn't resist!! That does sound like fun. I think it's great that you get involved with school functions. You're such a little trooper!!!

Hi Shelagh, ahh the grandkids! I love anything pumpkin. Have you tried Jody's Pumkpin Bake? That is a really good recipe too.
I bet since you've been constipated that is causing the weight gain. Once you have a bm, I'm sure you'll be fine.

Hi Lot, How ya doing? Busy at work, but you still seem to be doing great with your woe! Awesome!!! I hope your weigh in is a good one!!!

Hi Jennifer, how long have you been on stall? I would just keep eating how you've been before the fat fast. You're body is just getting used to what you've lost and adjusting. Always make sure you check for inches and how your clothes feel. Dr A said to go by that and not the scale, as hard as that is to do, that's our best bet. Hang in there!!!

Hi Darleen, I know you can do it! You found what worked for you before and I know you can again. You'll start losing again!!

Hi MrsMor, Hey you celebrated yours on the 4th, I celebrated mine on the 5th! Happy Anniversary to you!!!
You did way better than I did while you were away. I ate some hc foods and I'm paying for it! But that's what I love about this woe, it's easy to go back too. Good for DH too!!!

Hi Kristie, birthday cakes are you're weakness huh. Hopefully they're chocolate.
I'm glad you're here so we can get off this sugar kick together!!!

I hope I posted to everyone and to those I didn't I still love You!!

Hi Diana! Glad you're back!

Yes, definitely CHOCOLATE birthday cake is the weakness and then the yummy icing. . . slightly warmed up in the microwave where the icing is softer . . . ha ha.

My motto was . . . "If it's not chocolate, it's not worth the weight/wait." (pun intended)

Ahhh. I thought it was "cute" but as time goes on, it's not so funny anymore, huh?

SO . . . yes, let's kick this addiction TOGETHER!

Hey! I'm 2 days chocolate cake craving free!

Hi Laura, Hey glad to see your back! And I'm glad your back on lc. I hope you're alright. Wow that scare must have been pretty bad. I know doing lc is going make you feel so much better!!!

Hi Kristie, Thanks for the welcome!!!
Oh the way you describe that frosting sounds good!!! Oh my!! I have a weakness for chocolate too. I love it! But there are so many things that we can make lc in chocolate.
Have you tried the Oopsie rolls yet? They are a great way to get our bread in for any phase of lc. And you can do desserts with this bread too, it's a recipe by Cleochatra. Even LindaSue has several chocolate recipes that are induction friendly.

Here's one I may try:

Decadent Mini Chocolate-Dipped Layer Cakes

3 eggs, separated
3 ounces cream cheese
1 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp cream of tartar
1 packet Splenda
2 Tbsp Davincis Vanilla Syrup (Sugar Free)
1 cup Whipped cream (whipped with two packets of Spenda)

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.
In a bowl, whip egg whites with cream of tartar until peaks are stiff (about 5 minutes).
In separate bowl, blend cream cheese, yolks, baking powder and davincis sugar free syrup. Adding half of the yolk batter at a time to the whites and using a tall spoon (I use an iced tea spoon), make a lazy sine wave through the batter once. Turn the bowl 90 degrees and repeat. Add second half of the yolk mix and repeat sine wave two more times.
Place in ungreased, nonstick miniature cake pans (6" pans, I found mine at Super Target).
Bake for 30 minutes. Remove pans from oven and let cool on a cooling rack. Makes 6 small cakes.

Chocolate Glaze
2 Lindt 80% dark chocolate squares (buy in candy bar)
1 Tbsp davincis vanilla sugar free syrup
2 small packets Splenda
2 Tbsp heavy whipping cream
2 Tbsp butter
In a microwavable bowl, combine ingredients. Microwave for 30 seconds. Stir well. Dip tops of crullers into mixture. Drizzle any remaining mixture to fill bare spots. Let crullers rest on cooling rack until glaze has set.

Will coat 6-8 cakes, and can be used for other purposes.
This does dry to a shiny glaze.
Store in refrigerator, covered.
To assemble the dessert:

Dip tops of cooled cakes into chocolate glaze. Let rest on rack until chocolate hardens. On bottom cake layer, place whipped cream or pudding. Top with second chocolate-dipped cake layer. Top with fresh or frozen fruit (I use frozen, mixed berries) and drizzle juice for presentation. Keep unused portions refrigerated.
Nutritional information for entire chocolate glaze recipe: Calories: 349, Carbohydrates: 5, Fiber: 2, Net Carbohydrates: 3, Protein: 3, Fat: 36
Nutritional information for dessert without glaze/with glaze (glaze will easily coat 6-8 layers): Serving size is listed as 2 layers: Calories: 436/546, Carbohydrates: 4/2, Fiber: 0/2, Net Carbohydrates: 4/6, Protein: 15 grams/ 16 grams, Fat: 36 grams/48 grams

Hi to everyone!
Hi Chris! I had a really good time, except for the mosquito bites that we all got. Boy they did a number on us. . big welts! So I had to stop at the store today and buy some calamine lotion. They itch like crazy! But I'll survive!!
I'm glad to hear that DH isn't having too much pain. I pray that he recovers speedily!!!
Thanks for the welcome back!!!
Love ya!

Induction is going great. I've already tried out 2 new recipes this go round, buffalo chicken casserole and my own modified version of George Stella's stuffed peppers. Both are definite keepers.

Todays menu
B - protein shake w/ 2tbsp heavy cream (3)
L - tuna salad (tuna, sour cream, celery, relish) (10)
S - 4 shots espresso with sf caramel and heavy cream (3)
D - large stuffed pepper (red pepper, ground turkey, feta cheese, mushrooms) (9)

total 25 net carbs

Diana - I remember you too! Are you still doing A72? I'm doing DANDR and inducing on 25 net carbs or less. I was getting a little shaky from the super low A72 carb level and the high dose of glucophage the dr has me on for my PCOs.

Ooo girl, your day looks yummy!! And I am on Metformin too, but I am only taking 500mg and I am on the extended release, so I don't get the shakes and low blood sugar feeling from it.

My day;
B-Chicken salad- chicken boiled in salt, pepper, and garlic powder, then shredded, chilled overnight, then mixes with some mayo, parsley flakes, and onion salt. YUM! 1 Cup and a large glass of unsweet tea.
L- Hamburger pattie, slice of cheese, 5 pickle chips (sliced pickle). Large glass of water
D- 2 LC Weiners (Oscar Meyer Brand, <1 Carb each) with cheese melted ontop. Diet A&W Rootbeer

I still feel a little hungry, so I might have a snack. I am going to try to have it right before bed because when I eat dinner early I have been waking up with headaches from fasting and letting my blood sugar get too low. I will probably have SF jello.

Hope everyone had a good day!

good tuesday morning! Glad to see everyone checking in the past day or two! we got our boat in the water saturday so of course i wasn't home much. i was busy getting a bit of a sunburn (even w/ lotion on ! i can wear 50spf and still get burned!!)

Di - wow! sounds like a fun trip you had! one thing i use for mosquito bites that does work is deodorant. has to be an anti-perspirant type and just rub it on. it's that easy! you smell fresh all over too! haha i loved the pics you posted even tho you weren't in any of them! what's up with that??! but it looked like beautiful country out that way and the sunset was awesome! Yes, bingo was fun - some of those ladies sure do take it seriously! wow! the funny thing was i had to sell the instant bingos and they had wierd names like Kiss My Stash and Sweet Cheeks - all the old men just loved those let me tell you! "honey i got your sweet cheeks right here.. " etc etc.. puuuuhhhhleeeeezze! LOL

Laura - welcome back girlie! hope that issue you had is taken care of. remember we are all here for you and for support so if you need anything just ask. one day at a time, remember that! no regrets just move on!

Extraordinary!!

Tiffjake - glad to see you back!

HI Chris!! Christina ! Lots! Darleen! Jamie! Mary! did I miss anyone??! HI !!!

Good Morning Ladies!

I changed my menu yesterday which I knew I would. But it was still on plan and got some water weight down from it.

I actually ate for breakfast, 2 scrambled eggs w/ ham and cheese. Lunch was a chef salad w/ olive oil and vinegar. Dinner was a lc burger from Carls Jr.

I don't know what today is going to be so I'll post later. I do know that eating more salads is really helping. I'm just eating 2 cups of lettuce so far, but I'll be adding vegetables soon.

Hi Sheena, I'm still doing A72, but I'm making sure I'm eating this time. What's that Buffalo Chicken recipe? It seems that I've seen that recipe. I'm going to check that out.
I'm glad to see you're back on it and going to be a buff bride!!!

Hi Jen, oh how cute! Sweet Cheeks, that is so funny!! Did you accentuate the word when you had to say it.
When my sisters, bf and husbands get together we always have a great time. The thing we do is we'll quote tv shows or movies. We were talking about Gilligans Island and the different shows, and cracking up about them. We are always doing that.
We did have a great time. I know I wasn't in any of the pictures, but I looked hideous. I had no makeup and my hair was flat and I just looked terrible. But I shouldn't have cared about it. I'll have to take pictures next time I got something going.

How fun you went boating! I love doing that. My dad used to have a boat and he'd take it to go fishing, but he sold it. I got sunburned too, but just a little. I got kind of tanned though. Thanks for the tip on the mosquitos. John and I both got bit. Looks like we have the chicken pox, lol. I did buy some calamine lotion last night. But I will remember that deorderant for the future. I doubt we'll be going back to the lake, but just incase.

Well I'll talk to everyone later!!

Love Ya!!

GOOD MORNING

I am so excited. I dropped another pound which puts me 4 lbs away from my goal.

I couldn't have stuck to it without the help of all my new friends in here. This is, by far, the most upbeat place a person can be to lose all those unwanted pounds. The support is amazing. I love you all.......

However, even if I get to my goal I don't want to leave here. It's just way to much fun and, besides, whose going to give you your daily chuckle

Speaking of which........

The Email Letter

Subject: THANKS

At this time of year, I want to thank all of you who have taken the time and trouble to send me your email chain letters over the past 12 months.

Thank you for making me feel safe, secure, blessed, and wealthy. Because of your concern I no longer drink Coca Cola because it can remove toilet stains. I no longer drink Pepsi or Dr Pepper since the people who make these products are atheists who refuse to put "Under God" on their cans. In fact, I no longer drink anything out of a can because I will get sick from the rat feces and urine. I no longer use Saran wrap in the microwave because it causes cancer. I no longer check the coin return on pay phones because I could be surprised by Anthrax powder. Nor do I attend movies any longer for fear of sitting on a needle infected with AIDS. I no longer use cancer-causing deodorants even though I smell like a water buffalo on a hot day. I no longer go to shopping malls because someone will drug me with a perfume sample and rob me. I no longer receive packages from UPS or Fed Ex since the delivery people are actually Al Qaeda in disguise. I no longer shop at Target since they are French and don't support our American troops or the Salvation Army. I no longer answer the phone because someone will ask me to dial a number for which I will get a phone bill with calls to Jamaica, Uganda, Singapore, and Uzbekistan. I no longer eat prepackaged foods because the estrogens they contain will turn me gay. I no longer eat KFC because their chickens are actually horrible mutant freaks with no eyes or feathers. I no longer have any sneakers -- but that will change once I receive my free replacement pair from Nike. I no longer buy expensive cookies from Neiman Marcus since I now have their recipe. I always wear rubber gloves when opening my mail in order to avoid the deadly Klingerman virus that starts out with severe dysentery. I never keep my car windows open at a stoplight for fear of a Spunkball that would be thrown inside that could cause a large, deadly fire.

I no longer worry about my soul because I have 363,214 angels looking out for me and St. Theresa's novena has granted my every wish. Thanks to you, I have learned that God only answers my prayers if I forward an email to seven of my friends and make a wish within five minutes. (I don't remember that in the Bible.) I no longer have any savings because I gave it to a sick girl who is about to die in the hospital (for the 1,387,258th time). I no longer have any money at all, but that will change once I receive the $15,000 that Microsoft and AOL are sending me for participating in their special email program. Yes, I want to thank all of you soooo much for looking out for me that I will now return the favor!

So happy for you Mary only four lbs to go good for you!!!!

Laura I am so happy to see you back I was looking for you! I hope everything is ok now

Hey Jen you are right about them taking it seriously. Wow! I know my boss always tried to talk me into being a caller but I said no way not after the way those old people would cuss them out! I would sell the cards and call back bingos then when I was in college I work as secretary to the big guy and order supplies and do other stuff behind the scenes we were a big operation. We had 9 buses come in from out of state! I used to coordinate with them to arrange their seating. I think the most we ever had was 909 people! We even got raided one year!!! Cops with guns and everything!!!! It was great cause I was 17 and I thought it was cool This was a church Bingo remember.

Diana so sorry about the mosquitos they suck!!!! Literally(sorry)
I would love to go somewhere but we are stuck at home this year no vacationpoor me (feeling sorry for myself)With hubby's surgery ...him being off for 2 weeks probably no money for fun stuff. O'well it will be worth it if he gets some relief.

No great losses to reportbut I am hanging in there! I may just get used to being this weight and forget the struggle..................
Love ya Ladies!!!!!

Down 2 more pounds, for a total of 8lbs since starting induction on Wednesday .

Menu

B - protein shake w/ 2tbsp heavy cream (3)
L - Applebee's Bruschetta Burger bunless with double steamed broccoli with melted butter (12?)
D - big stuffed pepper (9)

total 24ish net carbs

TiffJake - I take 850mg twice a day. I rarely get the shakes but I have absolutely no energy if I cut my carbs to low.

Diana - I've been making sure to eat enough too. Because the ketosis is killing my appetite I have to make myself finish my meals. I want to make sure I'm getting enough calories in. I don't want to slow my metabolism and sabotage my success down the road. Here is the buffalo chicken casserole recipe. It's really good. I used half the ranch because I'm not a big ranch fan.

Chris - Thanks I'm super excited. I hardly get anything done for looking at wedding websites and blogs.

Hi I am new

Hi everyone. I am new and a "shy" poster, but just wanted to introduce myself. I am 39, 5 feet 4 inches and have three kiddies and a wonderful SO who has shared my life now for 7 years. I was on Atkins in 2004 and lost 12kgs and reached my goal weight of 55kgs at the time. Then I went completely back to the HC alternating with no eating when I was depressed and gained all the weight back (I had my third child in between September 2006). I am convinced that this WOE is the only way for me to lose weight and keep it off, but hell, do I miss those cheese sandwiches and pizza!. I restarted Atkins one month ago and have lost 4kgs so far (SW 63.3 CW 59.2). Thats a loss of 9 pounds of which I spent two weeks on a business trip, so I am very happy. I like what you ladies are doing here - I have seen too many of these boards being sooo judgmental and people tend to lose courage. Good positive and constructive support works for me, we are only human after all. I will be updating my profile and maybe add a really horrible before pic! Have a nice day! WOE: Atkins Induction
Start Date: 9 June 2008

PS: apologies for the information overload

HI

I am restarting induction today. I was very succesful with Atkins in 2006, lost 44 lbs and was in spitting distance of my goal. Let myself get off track, have gained 21 pounds back. My DH and I have started again several times this year, but keep going back off plan. I think we were too "comfortable" with it and dropped our carbs but never actually did induction again.... We were still enjoying carbquick recipes and many other tweaks and our old cravings kept coming back.

So I am extra committed this time. The scale this morning on DAY 1 was an ugly wake up call.
