just wanted to quickly chime in and say great work everyone and thanks for all the yummy recipe ideas too!
I worked out for 25mins today, first time in YEARS. I could only manage 5 mins on the eliptical so then continued on the bike for 20mins. It's not much, but it's a start! Menu: B- eggs with green onion, mushroom and splash of cream, two slices of turkey bacon L- tbd D- chicken and roasted cauliflower p.s. TiffJake..I tried the pumpkin last night and stupidly though brown weet and low would be a good idea, it was NOT..eww. So I kind of messed it up and had to counter it with splenda. It still wasnt very sweet and didnt taste to me like it should even with the cinnamon. Will try again tonight.

Hi ladies!
We had our garage sale today.....Glad it is over. the setup is the worst part. I really enjoy sitting oustside and meeting all the people! Except I got a NASTY sunburn. I knew better, too stupid to put on sunscreen.Got to put on some coconut oil to soothe this. We did pretty well We made about $300 bucks ...between me my friend and my son. It was worth it. My friend is having a sale in June so I will take the leftovers to her house then what's left from there will go to goodwill. So yeah I get rid of clutter!!!! Qgirl so sorry about your broken heart. Love is such a sucky thing sometimes. You can pour your heart out here anytime you want to we are here to listen and help you. Please stick with the plan though you will be so much happier in the end if you do ![]() Hi Mary congrats on the loss Diana Sammie is such a cutie!!! How is your challenge going? Are you eating the way you need to to reach your goal??/ I think I am doing pretty good on calories (keeping them low) but I think I may need to plug everything into fitday to make sure next week. Jennifer ![]() Hope you all are having a great weekend see ya later!!!!

Di- the wings sounds GREAT! Where is that recipe?
Lotpodz- sorry about the pumpkin I kept it simple. Cinnamon and sweet n low. Good luck playing around with it! If you were feeling adventerous, maybe try an Oopsie for the "crust" feeling. Maybe make the oopsie with cinnamon too, for a sweeter, more pumpkin-pie-like feeling OORRRR, do the pork-rind thing, with cinnamon and butter, and smash it into a crust shape, and THEN you have a crunchy crust! Just throwing out ideas! And I went to the Y today and asked about the pool. It has been closed for 2 weeks while they work on it. I used to be a lifeguard, and was in better shape (though, looking back, I was only about 15 lbs lighter than I am now). They said that they need lifeguards, so I am going to get swimming everyday again, build up my stamina, and then get re-certified, and THEN I will get a FREE membership to the Y! I hope that swimming 500 yards (minimum) a day will help get me off of this plateau too! Hope you are all having a great day! B: 3 slices of bacon, 1 minibell cheese L: 1/2 tomato, 1/2 fresh moz ball with balsamic vin. Snack: About 10 peanuts D: Planning on Outback Steakhouse. Steak and Broccoli, maybe salad too ![]()

Hey Chrissy!
Oh yuck a sunburn!! CO is perfect for that, as long as you don't lick it off! ![]() You made some good money, good for you guys! Thanks for looking out for me! Yes, I am eating right! Today my menu changed. We grilled some pork ribs and I did put a rub in them that had some regular brown sugar, spices and splenda. I ate about 2 of them to try, but the rest of my food I ate some grilled zucchini, yellow squash, mushrooms and eggplant. Oh it was so good! I ate a bit of grilled tilapia too and a piece of grilled chicken. Boy grilling food makes such a difference!! I hope you aren't going to be hurting too much! Hi Tiff! Here's that recipe: Heroin Wings 1/2-1 cup grated parmesan cheese 2 t. paprika 1 T each of dried parsley, oregano, and basil 1 t garlic powder salt and pepper How To Prepare: Make a dry mixture from: 1/2-1 cup grated parmesan cheese 2 t. paprika 1 T each of dried parsley, oregano, and basil 1 t garlic powder salt and pepper Dip raw wings in melted butter than coat with dry mixture. Bake on FOIL LINED cookie sheet for 45 min's to an hour at 350. Effort (Easy, Average, Difficult): Easy Tiff, that's awesome that you're going to try to get certified again! Swimming is such good exercise! I hope it all works out for you!!! ![]()

Chris, popcorn is my big weakness too! It is the one carb that I will never be able to give up entirely. I make mine stove popped in canola oil with salt, fresh cracked black pepper, and butter. Mmmmm... don't get me started!
Thanks everyone for your kind words. It has been a really rough few days. My heart is heavy and it is so hard to not obsess about all these difficult feelings. I found out he lied to me the past 3 months, never really loved me, he is a cheater and a user and I feel like the biggest fool on the planet. We share some mutual friends and a chatroom online as well so even if I am able to avoid him in person, I run into him online or I hear my friends talk about him. I suppose I should quit that site and stay away, but it is hard because I like the community there as I like this one here. Do I sacrifice my friendships and that community just to get away from him 100%? I hate him, he hates me, I feel like my entire world is toxic right now. Stayed on track today, mostly because I have no appetite so I have no cravings. I have eaten throughout the day: 3 baked chicken thighs (salt, pepper, garlic powder, olive oil) 2 slices of american cheese microwaved into crackers (linda sue's recipe) 1 cup romaine/iceberg salad with blue cheese dressing 3 vodka tonics with 1/4 lime and diet tonic Tomorrow, I am going to the mall to pick up a few essentials and see a movie with my brother. Hopefully I can resist stopping by Beard Papa's for a cream puff. ![]() |

I am so sorry Qgirl! If it were me, I would avoid that chat room, because you don't want to depress yourself. I had a situation like that, and after several months, I went back to that forum, and that person was gone. So I avoided the problem, and was able to go back later.
That chicken looks good!! Yum! And the movies are so hard for me, because I LOVE MOVIE popcorn! That is my my favorite snack and cheat food Good luck tomorrow! |

Oh God, another reason to lose weight
![]() I found out that there is a sky diving place just down the road from us (I see people in the sky, but I never looked into it before). I decided that I want to do it for my birthday (in Sept). I was checking their website, and you can not weigh more than 210 because of the elevation here..... I am too fat to skydive!! I am so losing this weight!!!!!!!!!! |

I think going skydiving would be an AMAZING reward for losing weight! I know you can do it!Another factor of why I am having a hard time lately is that I am currently unemployed. I was laid off Dec. 31st and I have been living off of my severance and unemployment insurance. So I have a lot of time on my hands and end up here at the computer wasting a lot of time and feeling depressed. To help alleviate my depression, I want to pour some energy into getting healthy and sticking to atkins. My plan this week is to plan out my meals better and spend a longer time at the gym. I usually spend 10 min cardio warmup, 15-20 min weight training, and 20-30 min cardio. From now on, I'll do my best to add on an ADDITIONAL 30 min of cardio before I leave, even if it is relatively low impact and just enough to raise my heartrate to fat burning. I found that switching from the elliptical to the bike makes it easier to keep the cardio going without experiencing as much fatigue as if I stayed on the elliptical for an hour straight. I leave for kentucky on friday to visit a good friend for 4 days. I am so glad that I made these plans... I had no idea that the timing would be so good. It will be nice to get away, perhaps I will gain some perspective. The bad side? All the delicious home cooked food and sweet iced tea! ![]() |

Good morning all you sweet ladies. It's another bright sunny day here in Florida and the first day of our hurricane season which ends in November...woohoo. We already have our first named hurricane (Arthur).
Qgirl - I'm so sorry you're going through this. Just remember that old saying.."what doesn't kill you makes you stronger". It's hard to tell someone what to do in a situation like this because they're all different but I can tell you that you will find out who your real friends are and, from what I'm reading he doesn't sound like he's worth getting upset over. You have far too much going for you. We're all here to help you through this. I'm fixing brownies for my DH to take with him so we all know what that means.....spoons will be licked dry ![]() Tiff - Why would you want to jump out of a perfectly good airplane ![]() . I'm sure you'll enjoy it. My husband says it's a rush.Chris - Yes, they grow up way too fast. My oldest just turned 38 and my youngest will be 34 and yet it still seems like they were just babies. Guess they always will be our "babies". Lady Di - Can't wait to try those heroin wings. They sound absolutely delicious. Ok, gotta run. I'll see you all later. Mary ![]()

Hi Ladies!!
Just finished eating breakfast and I'm stuffed!!! Here's my menu: B-egg bake, fried turnips, turkey bacon L- probably nothing S-Aktins Shake D-grilled tilapia, grilled veggies Water No Ex today Hi Qgirl! You're attitude sounds good! I believe if you continue to keep up with low carb, your mental attitude will help with your emotional feelings, because by not eating alot of high carb foods, you won't have another thing to feel bad about. But now, you'll feel like you are doing some good for yourself! I pray that you'll heal from this. You're going to look so good when your weight starts falling off!!! Whoohoo!!! I do agree with Tiff, I wouldn't go on that chat room. A clean break is what you need. Your menu looks really good too!!! Hang in there Sweetie!! ![]() Oh and I love popcorn made from stove too!! So much better than microwave. MY dad used to make that for us when we were kids, everytime it rained outside. Yumm is right!!! Have fun at the movies!!! Hi Tiff, Skydiving!! How awesome! You don't have that much to go, you can do it!! That could be a personal challenge for you to do. I believe you can lose and get down to be able to skydive!! What a rush that would be, I don't think I could do it because I don't like heights, but I totally think it's cool when someone doesn't have that problem! Go for it!! ![]() Hi Mary, yum brownies! I love them too and I love to make, especially from scratch. Praying the hurricanes don't hit your area and all of Florida too!! ![]() Have a great day with your Hot Man!!! Stay strong Qgirl, you can do it. I agree that givng the chatroom a breather is best idea and then when you feel better about everything, you can rejoin your friends.
I am working tomorrow and will be away from 5:30am til 4pm stuck in a tiny room and only have what the company caters to eat (usually fancy sandwiches with barely any meat on ). Maybe I should bring a cooler? As it is though I have so much to carry on the train. Help! I guess if I bring snacks like Just The Cheese, its better than nothing to eat all day, right? |

![]() I know those are some hard situations. The cheese crackers sound good! Have you made the rev rolls? I was thinking that you could take a couple and use that for your sandwich, using the meats from the ones there. String cheese is good too. The cheese crackers are SO good that even my skinny friends want to eat them all The resipe was tweaked from LindaSue's recipe. All I do is get a piece of parchment paper, place it in the micro and drop little piles of parm cheese on the paper (about an inch apart) and then nuke for 1 one and let stand for about 30 seconds before removing. They are super crunchy and SO tasty. I used to pay $7 for 3 medium sized ones at the low carb shop a few years ago not know how easy they are to make! |

Thank you everyone, for your great advice. I am going to do my best to quit that other site and give it a breather. At least he lives far enough away from me that I don't run into him in person unless I make an effort! But it will never truly be far away enough... I would like to take all my ex's and put them on a rocketship to another planet. A planet of Ex's.
Anyway! Here's the start to my day: Brunch: coffee with a splash of heavy cream and splenda & 2 large eggs (deviled) This should get me through shopping at the mall. Here is what I plan for my return: S: Cheese crackers (linda sue) D: Shrimp sauteed in garlic butter and broccoli OH! Also, my personal challenge right now is to get down to about 170 by the end of this month. I hope I can do it! Last edited by Qgirl; 06-01-2008 at 02:26 PM.. |

Hey all
About the sky diving: I am terrified of falling (not really heights as much as falling from the heights!) so sky diving would be facing that fear. Looks like (ironically) I have to face my fat, to face my fear of falling. I am a little relieved that I am too fat to do it, because then I don't have to face that fear. But I am also bummed that I CAN'T face that fear, simply because of my weight. I have always told myself that my weight wouldn't get in the way. I wouldn't let me stop me from doing anything I wanted to do. Now, I actually want to take a leap, and face my fear, and I can't. That depresses me more than anything..... I got up this morning and weighed and there is another pound on the scale (up to 247). I am sure it is probably water or poop or something, and not a pound of fat gained, but it still got me down. I know it shouldn't, but it does. I was talking to my husband earlier, and in one of his rare moments of insightfullness, he said "you lost a lot of weight fast, doing what you are doing, and you are going to have to do something different now" and I know he is right. When I saw that pound gain on the scale, the last thing I wanted to do was don a bathing suit and go swimming, but I think I HAVE TO, you know? Anyway, I know this has turning into a really long post. I am sorry. I am just dealing with a lot of emotions right now. I am fighting really hard against my instincts. I keep thinking "Well, since I am stuck, I should just eat what I want" or "why go to the gym? Its not going to work!" and I know those are just self-defeating lies that I need to stop! So far today: B (late): 3 (1 carb ea) beef hotdogs with mayo, dill relish, and One Carb ketchup 5 cheese crackers (lindas recipe) L: ? Dinner: Planning on chicken and broc and cheese. |

Laura, I tried LCing so many times and always failed and gained weight because I wasnt ready. I honestly feel so different this time and I KNOW deep inside that I am ready to be serious. If you feel that way, it will work. Dont worry about failing, just take each day as it comes. We are all here for you

![]() btw..I have a gym ACROSS THE HALL from my loft, seriously 8ft away and have lived here 2 years. I have been in that gym a total of 4 times, how pathetic! Yesterday I pushed myself to do 30mins and it was so hard but today I managed 50! I really think it all has to do with being ready to NOT be fat anymore. I am not messing around anymore and I can't wait to be thin ![]() |

Never made it past 5 or 6 days of induction. I'm may try 3-4 weeks though. Then switch to OWL. But whats stronger then my fear of failure is the fear of being unhealthy and over weight, and being here in the same spot this time next year.
