I will say that I officially started yesterday, since I did what I had to do.

Hi Laura, I'm so glad you're back! I don't want you to feel that you can't ever post here, for any reason, okay. Hang in here with us and we'll all help you get through this!! You are moving in the right direction!!!!

Hi Q!, Oh I agree with Mary and Chris! We don't let one little meal mess us up!! I'm glad you stuck it out the rest of the day!! You're doing great!!!!
And you can post anything you want here too.
I know we all have our days where the unexpected happens or if we plan it, but as long as we continue on!!

Hi Chris! You better not remove your pic!!! That's an order!!! Not that I don't love your little doggie but it's good to see a face to the name!!
Oh how fun a garage sale, with all the neighbors too!! Do you have alot of stuff?

Hi Mary, leaving again?? LOL, well if you must! I hope you come back in and chat!

Hi Tiff, I love spagetti squash too! I had it for the first time at the beggining of the year and loved it! I may have to put that on my "to cook" list now!! Thanks!

Hi Jen, wherever you are!!

Wow, thanks so much for the support! It really does help to know that I am not the only one who succumbs now and then! Today is a brand new start... I am going to the gym in a minute (usually 15-20 min weight training and 20-45 min of elliptical) and then will come back and plan out my meals for the rest of the day.

I hope all of you are having a great day!

OH... one more thing... I have been eyeing this jar of coconut oil at my local supermarket and I have heard people mention it here. What is so great about it and how on earth are you supposed to eat it? It seems kind of gross to just eat it out of the jar!

Hi everyone!! Hope all have had a good day!!

Been a busy day even though I've been off since 11am!! i got mulch for my yard, stopped and got my hair done (it is short and stacked in the back!! i like it!!!) then spent the afternoon shoveling the mulch out of the truck. planted some flowers, cooked dinner, swept out the back of the truck once i got it all unloaded (whew!!) and i'm calling today DONE!!

Chris - how was Brandons appt? and how long has our hip been bothering you? since it seems to run in your family, is there a way they can test to see about you while it's still early?? i hope so but in the mean time my prayers are with you! hope it's just Aurthur acting up!!

Trish/Drew - yes, the lindt you can use in bark or just cocoa powder. i used the Lindt the other day, there is a recipe floating around w/it and heavy cream and co etc.. so it's a bit creamier and not too dark chocolate tasting (i am not fan of dark choc) but i put too much cream in so it wouldn't set right. but hey! it tasted GREAT so i used a spoon!!!! hehehe

Chris L. - I just *LOVE* your pic! you are a cutie! i love your smile!! it's very infectious! glad you posted "you" !!

Qgirl - you can do anything you want honey!! i 've cheated a time or two but i try to make the best of it..... stole a french fry... licked a spoon, had beers!! whatever!! i know if i deprive myself i'll just go back to before but since i have "allowed" myself a mistake or two i just to better from the next thing i eat going forward. it's worked so far for me, i've not fallen completely off the wagon! i think the goal is to keep trying!!

Laura- keep going girl!! just pick up from here on out and do it! so u ate popcorn or tacos or a whole bucket of chicken even! just aim to do better from the next thing you eat. we are not perfect and can't expect ourselves to act that way you'll find what works for you! but we're here regardless!!

Di - oh Queen of Karaoke!! thanks for posting the recipe.. i may try to whip up a small batch this weekend to try b4 company comes... i'm sure they'll like it though!! i can do a no meat version even so my sis will eat it. sorry missed ya earlier!! i took a break from shovling mulch and then got back out there!!

menu today was:
b - an egg and a sausage from BK w/sm coffee
l - 2 ckn soft tacos in a bowl from taco bell (i just tell them dump it in a bowl for me )
d - pot roast w/carrots and turnips and homemade gravy using xanthum gum (still tweaking using the gum to thicken i thought i put too much in but it wasn't thick!!)

and exercise today was mulching and shoveling... several hours worth so i'm headed to my hot shower now!! have good evening everyone!!!

(Hi to everyone else, i didn't mean to forget you!! i cna't see but so far back and i've got a lot to catch up on !!) sorry!! HELLO!!!!!!

my goal : 5 lbs by next Friday june 6th

Hey everyone, I am bummed because the scale has gone up 3 pounds....but I am down 2 pants sizes, so I am trying not to think about the scale, and just keep going with the induction plan. I was in a 24, and now I am wearing 20's and I am really thrilled.

My Menu Today:

Breakfast: 3 (1 carb ea) hotdogs, with Mayo, Dill Relish, and LC Ketchup
Lots of water....
Haven't been hungry all day, so haven't had lunch...
Dinner Plan: Enchilladas (made with the LC Crepe recipe by Cleochatra for the tortillas), with ground beef, onions, cheese, and a little salsa.

I have been really emotional lately. I haven't had a TOM since Feb because of PCOS, and I have an RX for provera to have one, but I haven't started taking it yet. I don't know what my hormones are doing, but I think it is what cause this 3 pound gain. I am sitting here waching Dr Phil and crying over the great donations to help this one girl. I feel like I am so PMSing, but I know that I am not. Anyway, I hope you are all having a great day

Hi Qgirl! Oh Sweetie, if we didn't splurge from time to time we wouldn't be human! We need to live once in awhile too!! We just call it a "refeed". But it's important to get right back on it!
The exercise is great!! I use my elliptical too!!!
I buy Nature's Way brand. Make sure it's and Extra Virgin Organic CO. When you taste it, is should taste like coconut.
You're doing great!!!

Hi Trish! I crack that Jen still calls you Drew!!! That's cute!!! I haven't tried that chocolate for my Choc CO bark. . .yet! I may have to though. I trust Christina's judgment on that, so it has to be good!!
I use the unsweetened cocoa powder myself, the dark chocolate one.
I may have to try that one with the cream now!!
Trish, I used to be a 22 too! I am in a 18 as well!!! Good for you Hon!!!

Atkins 72?

What is Atkins 72 please?
I did Atkins about 5/6 years ago and lost 48 pounds in 4 or 5 months. It melted off. Since then I had some health issues and over time I've put it all back on again. I'm starting induction again, but just wondering if there's a different way to do it now, that includes veggies? Sounds pretty good to me.
I hope to take off all the weight this time and just stay with the low carb. Trying to consider sugar as an allergen, and white flour too for that matter. I just want to be a NORMAL size again. Plus it will help my knees, and probably my heart, too, to be smaller.
Great this site is here. Looking forward to meeting people on here.

If there is anyone 55 or older, wanting to lose about 90 or so pounds, maybe we could buddy up and help one another.

ONe more question - what's a rev roll? (Might be something only you Yanks get. lots of time we don't have the low-carb alternatives in Canada.)

Ta.

Lisa

Good morning beautiful ladies! Here's a couple of thoughts for the day:

"AGE DOESN’T ALWAYS BRING WISDOM…SOMETIMES AGE COMES ALONE!!!"

"God put me on this earth to accomplish a certain amount of things and right now I'm so far behind I'll never die".

Lisa, you're going to love it here. Great bunch of ladies. To answer your question on Atkins 72, it is his original plan (book) written in 1972. So, you're from Canada. Welcome!!! I lived in Kelowna for 5 years and Calgary for 18. My youngest son was born in Kelowna and lives in Calgary. Actually, I have two sons....one is very Canadian and one is very American (born in Washington, D.C.)....lol. I used to go diving off Galiano Island. Great fun!!

It sounds like everyone is really getting geared up for their personal challenge.

Love the pictures Tiff. Beautiful girl with a beautiful smile!!

Thought I'd pass along this recipe. It's really good!!!!

CHICKEN IN CREAMY MUSHROOM SAUCE
Ingredients
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, diced into cubes
6 green onion stalks, chopped
onion and garlic powder, to taste
1 tsp. thyme
1 Tbsp. black pepper
salt, to taste
¼ c. heavy cream
½ Tbsp. sage
2 cans mushrooms (I prefer fresh ones)

Directions
Step: 1 Spray large skillet with non-stick cooking spray. Turn heat to medium and cook chicken along with the green onions, onion powder, garlic powder, thyme, salt and pepper until chicken is fully cooked. Turn heat down to low and add the heavy cream, sage and mushrooms until cream is reduced, stirring so that the cream does not burn. Then just serve with a nice salad and enjoy!
Nutrition Information
4 carbs per serving for the mushrooms, minus 1 gram fiber. Not sure how many carbs are in green onions, but I can't imagine it's very much.

And your funny for the day:

I really do love this country, but...

1. Only in America... can a pizza get to your house faster than an ambulance.

2. Only in America... are there handicap parking places in front of a skating rink.

3. Only in America... do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.

4. Only in America... do people order double cheese burgers, large fries, and a diet coke.

5. Only in America... do banks leave both doors open and then chain the pens to the counters.

6. Only in America... do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.

7. Only in America... do we use answering machines to screen calls and then have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't want to talk to in the first place.

8. Only in America... do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight.

9. Only in America... do we use the word 'politics' to describe the process so well: 'Poli' in Latin meaning 'many' and 'tics' meaning 'bloodsucking creatures'.

10. Only in America... do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille.

Well girls, I'll check in with you later. Have a blessed day!!!!

Hi Lisa,
Here is a link to A72.
http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/at...plan-book.html

One of the diff is that in A72, you can add foods in sooner than DANDR.

On DANDR, 15 to 20% of your carbs should come from vegetables and salads. I know alot of us will add lc tortillas and other things, but really Dr A never endorsed that.
In A72, vegetables are about 1 c and lettuce is a loose 1 cup.
But you can read the link and it will show you!!

Hi Lisa . . again! Oh this is going to be good! I have a sister named Lisa and another name Laura!!!
How funny!!!
Feel free to stick around here, we have a lot of fun and share info, recipes and other things with each other. I'll get you the rev roll recipe too! Very easy to make and takes the place of a bread for sandwiches too!

Here is a tweaked version someone came up with.

Cleochatra's Best Ever Revol-Oopsie Rolls
3 large eggs
1 pkg Splenda
dash of salt
pinch of cream of tartar
3 ounces cream cheese (not Tbsp!) Do not soften!

Preheat oven to 300 degrees.

Separate the eggs and add Splenda, salt, and cream cheese to the yolks. Use a mixer to combine the ingredients together. In a separate bowl, whip egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff (if you're using the same mixer, mix the whites first and then the yolk mixture). Using a spatula, gradually fold the egg yolk mixture into the white mixture, being careful not to break down the whites. Spray a cookie sheet with non-stick spray and spoon the mixture onto the sheet, making 6 mounds. Flatten each mound slightly.

Bake about 30 minutes (You want them slightly softer, not crumbly). Let cool on the sheet for a few minutes, and then remove to a rack and allow them to cool. Store them in a bread sack or a ziplock bag to keep them from drying out.

Makes 6@ about 85 calories a piece, >1 carb

Here is the original one

Revolution Rolls
3 eggs separated
1/4 t cream of tartar
3 T cottage cheese (you can also use mayo or sour cream)
1 packet of Splenda (I use about 2 teaspoons)

Preheat oven to 300.

Separate eggs very carefully so that none of the yolk gets into the whites. Beat egg whites with cream or tartar until whites are stiff but not dry.
Mix the yolks, sweetener and cottage cheese together and fold together with the whites VERY CAREFULLY so as not to break down the whites.
Place the mixture carefully on a Pam sprayed cookie sheet, gently putting one tablespoon full on top of another until each roll is about 2 inches high. Repeat this until you have 6 piles.
Place the cookie sheet in the oven and bake for about 1 hour.
After the rolls have cooled, place them in a zip-lock bag and store them in the refrigerator.

If you use may, these are less than half a carb per roll. With cottage cheese, they are .5 carb per roll!

I have not tried them, but have been real tempted too! I don't know if they really work. It would be interesting to see if they do!

Checking in

Hey guys

So I had my roadtrip for work and survived. It was really hard working outdoors and in someone else's house in the middle of NOWHERE but I think I did ok.

My only downfalls over the 24hour period were 3 South Beach bars, 2 were 9 carbs each and the other was 3 carbs. I ate mostly nuts and cheese over 2 days but I did not cheat and more importantly was not even tempted to cheat.

The house we stayed at had just had a huge BBQ over the weekend and it felt like a cruel joke when I walked in the kitchen to see THE BIGGEST pile of carbs I have seen! LOL! Chips, cookies, hot dog buns, hamburger buns, bagels, crackers, goldfish crackers, you name it! BUT, not even tempted.

I also had a little emotional breakdown at one point when someone got a poloroid with me in the background. I nearly broke down and cried right there while working. It was so upsetting for me to see how big I am now. It really affected my mood all day but later I just calmed myself down by saying "Its ok, you are working on it and will over this soon". Kinda corny I know but I really hit a low.

Argh..sorry for the novel!

My last weigh in was on Tues at 235 (down 4lbs) and today I am at 234 so I am on the right track at least

Hey Trish and Jen thanks so much for the compliments

Tiff I think it is so great you are down 2 sizes!!! Who cares what the scale says. I love your pictures you can really tell the difference good job!

Laura and Di I tried some carb blockers along time ago forget the brandbut they were orange chewy cubes. I don't think they worked though.

Laura you can start whenever you want this isn't a boot camp we are just friends here offering advice and support when wanted. And freindship too!!! Hope you have a great time this weekend!

Kelly and Lisa Glad to have you!!!

Mary I really do appreciate you funnies everyday...keep them coming!

Christina good to hear from you again missed ya! Hope things calm down for you soon.

Jaime missing you how are you doing???
Hey Qgirl I use the Nutiva CO there is a running joke in our house whenever someone has a rash ,cut, dry skin it is go put some cocnut oil on it. It seem to cure everything. Also, I eat it, you are supposed to get 3-4 TBS a day but I don't get that much. I put it in egg creams or eat it off the spoon it is a great appetite suppressant.

Well, guys it is official I am up 2 lbs.I was hoping it was just water and would go away but NO! So I think I am going to try to eat to my BMR (there are a lot of threads in the Main Lobby about this) So I have to keep my calories at about 1400-1500 a day. I am not going to use fitday right now because I get to obsessed with it I am just going to try to judge so we'll see hopefully this helps.
Love you Ladies!

Lotpodz You did a great job! I know it is hard when all that good food is around but this is a great victory for you and instead of obessesing over that picture you should be proud of yourself for not even being tempted! And soon you will have an after picture of you as a skinny hottie!
