Wow Rae ...so sorry you had to go through all that at once!
But it is true whatever doesn't kill us makes us stronger! Thanks for sharing your story!I posted my story way at the begining of this thread so I won't repeat it all to save you all from boredome. But basically I was always thin until I after pregnancy. When my son was 4 1/2 the Dr put my Dh on Atkins to control his cholesterol. This was 1999 so I thought I might as well do it with him since I needed to lose weight too. So I lost 30 lbs and was down to 120 people told me I looked too thin and then I put 5 back on and stayed there. Then I put another 5 on over the next 6 years. Still I was pretty happy at 130 then all the parents got sick. My Mom was the last she got sick in June of 05 and passed in Jan of 06. I was the sole caregiver took her to all her appointments and visited her in the Hospital everyday. Well, during those 6 months I didn't eat much...couldn't. So when she died I was 120. But then as time passed after her death I began to eat normal low carb maintence. But I went up to 141 really quick and it kept on moving up. So I decided I had to do something. I went to curves and worked out, first time ever, exercising. After a year no loss. So I decided I needed to go back to induction. I got down to 137 and I can't get any lower so I go up and down these days between 137 and 140 . But I Am going to get back to 130 or less![]() ![]() ![]()

OMG! Look how gorgeous you are Chris!!!! I'm so glad you put your picture up!!!
I know, it's so funny what leads us to where we're at now. I just know if it wasn't for my litte sister, I'd still be miserable being at 243lbs! And just as importantly, if I didn't find this website, after subscribing to a couple more before coming here, I doubt I would have continued on with low carbing!! So God opens us so many doors for us, it's incredible!!! |

Good Afternoon Sistah's
Welcome to all our new friends . Thanks for joining the sistah hood. This is the best group of support I've ever found. post often we love to hear how everyone's day is going. Chris, wow you are just as beautiful on the outside as you are on the inside. Yes, I agree what doesn't kill you will only make you stronger. Being a caregiver is a very long ,and hard job. I remember my Mom's Pastor came by when it was my turn to pick her up from my sisters. He told her Ms Evelyn I'm going to pray for you now. My sister didn't miss a beat. She piped up, and said she is being well taken care of..You better pray for the caregivers. we all laughed but it struck home to me as to how true that was. Caregivers need lots of prayer. it's a 24/7 job. Darleen, wow you sure have done a great job. what an inspiration you are . You give me hope. most of my weight is my belly area. Girl you don't even have a tummy. keep up the good work. please keep telling me I can do this. Enjoy your trip. I sure hope you can post while out of town. We'll miss you. I understand what you are saying about age. My DH will be 61 in Aug. We were married when he was 18. Lord where did the yrs. go. they just fly by. Diana, I meant to tell you that when I O'D on 3 of the sausage dog's it was the bun length. Mercy, 3 small cocktail weenies would have been just enough to make me mad..lol . I can tell by your skin you live in Az. it has that dewy look. Girl you are lucky. well not the heat part.lol. Menu : B - sausage n egg muffin w/ 1/2 serving Joesph's Low Carb Lavish bread , coffee S- 1/3 cup frozen SF cool whip w/ SF lemonade mixed in . its like a frozen mousse / ice cream . helps w/sweet cravings. L - 2 fried chicken legs ( not from Chris's stash ) < ducking > 1 serving pork rinds w/ homemade chili as a dip. D- 2 sausage dogs w/chili , onions, coleslaw, diet pepsi I promise not to O'D on sausage dogs . lol Rae

Hi all!!!
I thought this afternoon would never get here!!This is my early shift week so I have to be in by 7am, so means up b4 5 (i hate rushing and need time to wake up, relax have coffee or tea etc). so I was off at 3pm, went to get oil changed in truck, came home and had to find a snack! today i am HUNGRY!! menu: b - 2 eggs sunnyside up, 1 cube of cheese l - wendy's single on Ooopsie roll w/no ketchup, some mayo and side salad snack - half egg cream (my son wanted other half) and i fixed "pizza toppings" (layed a few pepperonis' on a plate and layed some cheese on top and microwave for few sec).. now i'm ok to wait till dinner! i'm still on TOM so the egg cream helped the little sweet tooth! Chris - Yes, i did try the tofu fries.. they aren't bad! you hav to press out the water, doesn't take alot to do when it's all ready sided thinner for ya then you cut the fry strips from that... the oven dries it out even more. not real potato tasting, not much of any taste but the season all gives tad flavor and then the cheese. i will def try this again! i only did half the tofu so i have half block left for anohter batch! Di - i have not tried turnips for fries but did for the scalloped potatoes adn those were good. i'd imagine as fries they would be too! not so much as baked potato tho, didn't work. i do agree to a challenge! i'm in !! i'm in! now i am tryin to stay LC until june 7th, this is my DD grad party and i am not planning on being LC taht day. if i can i will but i will enjoy myself w/some celebebratory cake and all. after all your kids only graduation HS once!! ![]() Darleen - i too plan my meus' as much as i can. usually a day or two in advance. i agree that when i do plan, i know what i'm in for, we eat better and it's so much tastier! hahah i hope you enjoy your trip and tell your DH !! to our new folks!!! we are a lively group!!Di - more on the challenge, we can aim small.. like 3 lbs lost by sunday - easier short term and more control. but i'm in for any of it. i don't post in any of the other threads, my freinds are HERE!! I may read a few but i love just LOVE this group here!! ![]() ok, i'm off to change from work into something more relaxing (see? you guys came first!!) and i'll chck back in this evning. maybe on yahoo! ![]()

oh no!
Well, I was doing so good for a week and today I succumbed to the siren call of a mini slice of cheesecake at the local bakery. I don't know why I did it! I was in the midst of a shopping frenzy and I just.... did it. Inhaled it.
I feel awful and feel like I should just chalk this day up to a loss and make a giant bowl of pasta and cry. What is ok to eat for dinner tonight now that I tainted my body with sugar earlier today? Should I just throw in the towel and go ahead and make pasta or some rice and lentils? Or should I eat my normal low carb steak and broccoli? |

OMG Diana that recipe sounds so good!
Thanks for the compliment! You too Rae you are both so sweet! Yeah I thought it was time you all knew who you were talking to. But I hate looking at myself when I get on here, rather see my puppy!![]() Rae that is so true about the caregiver even if you are not with the person you are caring for you are thinking and worrying about them, yep 24/7 job! I got on late tonight Dh wouldn't get off Ebay He is a lionel train collector![]() Ooh I made good dinner tonight, My very own recipe Took boneless chicken breast a rolled it up with priscutto and provolone inside then dipped in in egg/cream mix then parmesean cheese cooked at 400 for about 20 minutes. It was sooo good! Qgirl yeah what Diana said! Don't ruin the whole day for one screw up...if you stop now it may not even effect you. And don't feel bad about it just move on. Trish you too, don't worry tomorrow is another day! You can always begin again! Ok still trying to figure out what I am gonna do for my challenge....I know I can't give up the AS I can't live without it in my coffee or pop....So I will think of something else. When are we starting? |

Thanks, Chris and Diana! I felt so guilty just typing the words that I cheated.... I almost didn't do it. But I felt that hiding the fact that I cheated would defeat the purpose of being a part of this group. I'm here to get help, and you guys really did. Rather than indulge for the rest of the day, I am back on track and eating a simple salad with blue cheese dressing.
Thanks for encouraging me not to go down a guilt-ridden shame spiral! ![]() |

Qgirl, I have cheated too, and I got right back on the horse, and I had a great loss the next day! Let that be one little treat and move on. Don't over do it and ruin the whole day
I try to look at it this way: Lets say you are trying to stay under 20 grams of carbs a day. That cheesecake was about 40, so you are at 60 for the day. That 60 is still better than the 100+ carbs you WOULD be at if you ate the bowl of pasta because you felt like you had already ruined the day! So you are still ok, in the sense that you havent gone totally overboard. You see what I am saying? That's how I look at it anyway.... ![]() And I had "spaghetti" tonight I made spaghetti squash, and meatballs (from Lindas Low Carb Recipes site), and "no sugar added" sauce, and it ws goooooood! I wasn't really thrilled with the squash, but the meatballs were really great. Have a great night everyone! As for my goals, I have had 60 ozs of water today, one more big glass to go. And I havent worked out yet, but I am going to while I watch tv ![]()
