Hi Ladies!! Happy Memorial Day!

Darleen, you're story really touches the heart of how we all end up doing lc or any other way of eating. I could totally related to your story!!
Thank You for sharing! Oh and by the way. . .what does braunschwieger taste like?

Laura, we are all with you and have been in the same boat as you, and still are. I'm still struggling to get out of the 200's and you'r struggling to start induction.

I think with me, I just knew I had to do something after I a saw a pic of myself at 243. I just looked terrible!! I mean, I wasn't a pretty fat girl, I was an ugly fat girl!

But there is something in us, when we get to a point where we just know tha we need to do something and when that time comes, nothing will keep us from doing this woe. We get to be so gung-ho about it, that with me, that's how I lost my 38lbs.

So I know you can do it! I guarantee, if you eat the required amount of fat, protein and veggies, you will feel full and satisfied. You won't feel hungry, but I won't lie, the first 3 days maybe hard because your body is getting rid of the carbs and you may have cravings. That's where you eat something with fat or protein.

You can do it, but you just have to know mentally when the time is right for you.

Hi Chris, you're such a good Girl!!! Way to keep on plan!!!

Hi Jen, no, I didn't need tequila to get me to sing. I just do it!!! I'm so used to singing in front of my family that I can automatically just sing. It was fun!!

Hi Y'all!!

Hi Yall!!
My name is Marie from Texas. I am on my 3rd week of induction. This is my second time around on the Atkins Diet. The first time my husband and I started a few years ago and lost a tremendous amount of weight. Within a matter of months I went from a size 12 to a size 4. We were faithful for about a year and a half and then it went down hill. We became Carb Addicts, consuming any and everything in sight that wasn't healthy or a veggie for that matter. It's been two years since and I gained an enormous amount of weight. I am 5'1" and was weighing in when I started at about 170+. My husband and I have been on it now for two weeks. Today marks the beginning of our 3rd week. My clothes are fitting loose and (hopefully I don't offend anyone) my undergarments are no longer cutting off my circulation. HOWEVER!! Right now I am craving a BIG FAT BURGER with HUGE FRIES!! I need some words of encouragement. I'm hanging in there and long to see this weight fall off. What do you do when you are at this point? Or am I the only one? Thanks everyone
Marie

Hello!
I have been lurking on this board for over a month now, and decided to finally register and participate. Thanks so much for this great thread, you guys have REALLY inspired me to keep with it and to find new and interesting ways to stay on track with my diet.

A bit about me, this is my 2nd time on Atkins. The first time I did Atkins, I lost about 20 lbs and got down to about 145 lbs which is actually a great weight for me, even if it is not my "ideal" goal. It has taken about 6 years to climb my way up to 187. Last month I started Atkins and I have to admit that I did cheat about once a week. I would get back into ketosis quickly, but I am sure that is why I stalled and only lost 5-6 lbs in the entire month even though I go to the gym and exercise with cardio and weights 3-5 times a week.

I am bound and determined to do better starting this week and already I have lost 3 lbs, bringing me to a current weight of 177! I have also noticed that my jackets are fitting better.... now if only my PANTS were looser! I suppose all in good time.

One of the things I like the most about this board is the kindness and support that everyone lends to one another. Also, I LOVE that you guys help each other out with recipes and creative menu ideas. I currently have my VERY FIRST batch of cleochatra's rolls in the oven! Although these are my first stab at it, they already look amazing and I am doing it on a plain baking sheet, not a muffin top pan. (The secret is folding some whites into the yolks mixture first to lighten it up before combining.)

Hi Marie!! Welcome to our family!!!

Congrats on the losses!! Cravings! Oh I can relate!!! I would go eat the burger without the bun and no fries! Do you have a Carls Jr near by? Get a low carb burger. They will make any burger low carb for you.

If that's what you want, or you can make it yourself if you're in the mood.

Q Girl and Mel !!

I do know about the burger and fry craving! i wanted fries so bad! i found a pretty decent recipe someone posted. it really wasn't too bad at all - i made half last night w/the hamburgers we grilled.

Big Daddy D's Low Carb Life: Carb Freedom Fries w/ Bacon and Cheddar - 2 net carbs per serving

today we did steaks on the grill w/some shrimp and i made an awsome coleslaw! i bought the brocolli slaw at walmart in veggie area... i put a handful in a small bown, scooped in some mayo, squirt some lemon and a pkt of splenda.. the sauce on the bag says vinegar and brn sugar which i had none of nor wanted, so as a sub for brwn sugar i drizzled a tad SF maple syrup in... mixed well and ended up adding another bit of the slaw veggies.. it was SSSOOOO delicious!! LC and tastey!

laura - i hate how i look at well... i pushed thru 2 full wks induction nad did a third... strict induction.. i'm not as strict right now.. i have allowed some carbquik in for a muffin occass but i try to not stray too far.. i try to find alternatives.. if i'm going to have something chocolatey i try to make it as best as i can LC so i dont' feel too bad... if i can't then i'll have sm. piece or serving and stick to LC rest of the day. so far for me i can stop and not allow it to make we bing on carbs or chocolate or hambrugers etc. playing w/recipies has made it interesting for me and i like to try new foods so by playing a little game w/myself i don't feel like i'm missing out. i feel like i'm expanding my tastes and my talents! i've now tried things i never have before nad i LOVE IT!! be positive, don't put yourself down, we are either all heavy or were heavy and still struggle. but you are not alone... if anyone understands, i think all of us here reall do. don't give up... just pick up where you left off and do it again.. one day at a time, no regrets and move on.

darleen - your story was very touching.. i've felt just like that myself. that is wonderful your DH was supportive and so reassuring for you.... you've come a long way and still you struggle to fix what damage was done. i'm proud of you and you inspire me to keep going! thanks!

di - i don't think i can sing if my life depended on it! i know i'm terribly off key when i do but i like to try by myslef anyways! hhaha i'll have to catch your encore performance next week!

hope everyone loved their holiday, nice weather and grilled stuff we may have eaten. i hope no chickens were run over at chris's house and may the woosh fairy hit us all tonight! (doubtful for me tho since TOM is still around!)

have a good evening, i'm off to find some kind of chocolate recipe i can make i found some Lindt and want choclate! (yes, obv TOM is here!!!)

Hi Ladies,
I was sitting here wondering what to do to make myself more motivated. I mean I am to a certain extent, but I want to feel that same drive and determination that I had when I first started lc.

I was thinking that maybe a challenge would be good to do, but then felt that I don't want to put pressure on myself. Although I do want to lose a certain amount in a certain amount of time!

But, I don't want to go to any of the challenges, I like right where I am here, with all of you.

So how do any of you feel about setting some goals for ourselves, or maybe doing some mini challenges. Or do you like this how it is, being a support group. I know this is equally important too. I was wondering if you all are feeling okay about how this thread is going, or do you want to jazz it up and change it up a bit.

I know for me, I need something to get me going and moving in the right direction.

To tell you the truth, I need to be down at least 5 lbs or more before 6 six comes. That's when I have to go to the dr and get my results for my blood work. I also need to monitor my blood pressure too.

Tuesday, I need to get serious and get the job done!! No more sabatoging myself and do the things I do because I over do it!

Everyone think about it and see where you want to go with this.

See ya all tomorrow!!

Love Ya Ladies!!

Hey Di, I would really like a mini Challenge, like yours. I am already planning my "break" from LC when my BFF will be in town, and then we go on a trip for 10 days, but I want to lose more weight before then. I have until 6/13.....

B: 3 hotdogs (1 C each) with Mayo and dill relish and LC ketchup
L: Kielbasa slices
D: Boiled Cabbage with olive oil and salt
Dessert: Canned pumpkin, about 1/4 cup, with cinnamon and a sweet n low packet, with sugar free whipped cream

I didn't count my carbs, but I am confidant that I am under 20. I didn't snack, and even my dessert was small and SF.

I have probably had about 40 ozs of water. I am going to go down another big glass or two and try to get the 64 in tonight. Have a good night all!!

Good morning everyone! to our newcomers. You need support? This is the place to come. You'll never find a greater bunch of people.

So how was everyone's weekend? I missed you guys but it was wonderful getting to spend three whole days with my DH. Woohoo

I didn't get off track too much but I did lick the spoon again when I made brownies for my DH to take with him. What can I say....I have this weakness for chocolate and it was just a little lick

I still think it would be fun for all of us to meet up somewhere for a big get together. If anyone has any ideas let me know.

Di, Christina...let's try to catch up on yahoo sometime this week. I seem to keep missing the two of you

I have to go take care of a few things. I'll be back later.

God Loves Blondes

A blonde finds herself in serious trouble.

Her business has gone bust and she's in dire financial straits.
She's desperate so she decides to ask God for help.

She begins to pray... 'God, please help me. I've lost my business and
if I don't get some money, I'm going to lose my house as well.
Please let me win the lottery.'

Lottery night comes, and somebody else wins.

She again prays... 'God, please let me win the lottery! I've lost my
business, my house and I'm going to lose my car as well.'

Lottery night comes and she still has no luck.

Once again, she prays... 'My God, why have you forsaken me? I've lost
my business, my house and my car.

I don't often ask You for help and I've always been a good servant to
You.

PLEASE let me win the lottery just this one time so I can get my life
back in order.'

Suddenly there is a blinding flash of light as the heavens open.
The blonde is overwhelmed by the Voice of God, Himself....

'Sweetheart, work with Me on this.... Buy a ticket.'

THE RIVER

Three men were hiking through a forest when they came upon a large, raging violent river. Needing to get on the other side, the first man prayed, "God, please give me the strength to cross the river."

Poof! God gave him big arms and strong legs and he was able to swim across in about 2 hours, having almost drowned twice.

After witnessing that, the second man prayed, "God, please give me strength and the tools to cross the river." Poof! God gave him a rowboat and strong arms and strong legs and he was able to row across in about an hour after almost capsizing once.

Seeing what happened to the first two men, the third man prayed, "God, please give me the strength, the tools and the intelligence to cross this river." Poof! He was turned into a woman. She checked the map, hiked one hundred yards up stream and walked across the bridge.

Good morning everyone! Welcome to our two new ladies, Marie and Qgirl.

Diana ... braunschwieger is delicious! It's like pate ... full of fat and rich and yummy. I can only eat a couple of slices at a time it's so rich. Well, maybe three, tops, LOL.

Re the challenge. Here's my idea since everyone of us seems to have difficulty sticking to this.

How about MENU PLANNING? I mean plan at least 3 days in advance and WRITE IT OUT.

Breakfast and lunch is usually pretty easy for me but dinner has always been the tough one. Bfst is always eggs and a meat like sausage links or bacon or a sausage patty or (and I just love this recipe) a sausage muffin. easy. Lunch? Salad with protein. Maybe a can of tuna (there goes my mercury level) or some chopped chicken or a burger if I got off my backside and made oopsies.

then comes dinner. Well, meat and vegies. But that gets boring, doesn't it? So by planning ahead I get to use one of the yummy recipes in the nice collection of low carb cookbooks I've invested in. I'll bet you all have at least ONE lying around.

And snacks! Don't forget to include snacks on your menu. You don't have to eat them if you aren't hungry but you WILL have the ingredients on hand in case you do.

I swear, menu planning was literally the BEST thing I learned to do with Jenny. It's something my husband had been bugging me about for years. And I'll let you in on a little secret. By NOT planning ahead I could use that as an excuse (unconsciously of course) to fail. As in, well I don't know what to fix for dinner so I either won't eat anything (did that for a long time) or I'll eat a bag of junk (did THAT for a long time). The first way I stayed skinny the second way I got fat.

I think a week at a time is the BEST way to go because it will help you keep food costs under control (you always know ahead of time what you need to buy) and keeps you on track. Since I shop about every 3 days (that's about how much salad stuff I buy at a time) then that's how I plan my menus.

I will admit to having gotten a little slack. when I plan ahead we have delicious meals that are more than just a hunk of grilled meat and some steamed veggies. We have scallops primavera with asparagus and hollandaise sauce.

so, that's my suggestion to you all.

Now we're headed for colorado for the rest of the week. Todays is DH's 67th bday. EEEEEEEK. How'd he get so old? and I thought it would be nice for us to spend some time with his brother. I'll borrow my SIL's computer if I can to come visit but if you don't hear from me til Saturday that's why.

Have a great week ladies!!

Hi Marie, Qgirl and Abouttime So glad to have you join our family!

This is such a great group of people you will love it here.

Christina I know what you mean about the LC this weekend I too stayed low carb but too much of it. I am sure I am up on the scale and I am bloated.Think it may be too much salt.

Jen have you ever tried the tofu fries? I've never even had tofu but I can't imagine it not being good with bacon and cheese on top! No I didn't run over any chickens but I did go get more eggs Sunday I got nervous I was down to 6!

Tiff that pumpkin dessert sounded really good! I need to try that!

Diana I would love to do a challenge but I still don't think I will lose...I am just sure I am stuck at this weight. I have been trying to do strict induction since March and I haven't gone under 137 only up a few times. I know I have been good except for the wine but I gave up wine for all of Lent and no loss happened then either so I figure why give that up? So what I am saying is I am not sure what my challenge should be. Maybe not eat? (Just kidding). I know I am pouting but I am just not sure what else to try. I wonder if I could give up SA or cream for a week? Or sodium or something like that. Maybe this will be a good kick in the pants for me. I would just love to lose 10 lbs or even 5 right now would be great I just want my clothes to fit better. I don't want to buy anything new in a bigger size! Ok I just talked myself into it right here. Sorry so long winded! Let's do it! Not sure what but let's do it!Thanks Diana!

Love ya all!
Mary great Idea about getting together...unfortunately we are alll over the map how could we ever find a central location?

Good Morning Ladies!

Welcome abouttime! Glad to see you! Jump right in here and make yourself at home!!

Hi Darleen, Happy Birthday to DH!! Have a fun and safe trip!! See you when you come back!
Oh and my DH has had that braunschwieger before, I guess he likes it too!

Hi Mary, I had been wanting to respond to your question about meeting up the first time you mentioned it and would keep forgetting to say something.
But that would be fun to do! I'm just wondering where we could go that would be neutral.
We'll have to think about that!

Hi Chris, do you think that maybe you're at the your right weight? Just wondering?? I know those last lbs will be tough, but maybe you can challenge yourself to stop using AS for at least a week, a cut back on your sodium too see if that will help you lose those few lbs. That could be your challenge!

Hi Laura, Christina, let's figure out what we want to do on this challenge, whether it be a personal on for ourselves or a team type of challenge.

Like my challenge will either be to set a small goal for myself to get under 200. Laura, your challenge could be to stay on induction for a week, Christina, you'res could be whatever you need to do.

I mean only for a week, we don't need to stress ourselves out here, but just see if we can do this.
We've got the support already, so we can just plan our days ahead like Darleen said and then go with what we planned and stick to it.

Now if anyone is having trouble staying on, let's be honest about it and post it so we can help out whoever needs it.

Let me know what you all think?
