Tamekia~you did great resisting temptation at Starbucks. Boy, it's hard when they have so many good looking desserts in the case. I also love mochas and SF Vanilla Breve Lattes, but even the SFVBL gives me trouble, so I have to stick to an Americano with room for cream. Or sometimes I get their Tazo Green Tea. It's very good iced with some SF syrup in it. Your cilantro mayo sounds interesting. Do you use lettuce for your wraps?

Nkechi~good to have you with us.

Luz~you are so smart to do this now when you're young and have no health problems. The older you get, the harder it is to lose. I'm 47 and do fight for every pound that comes off. You sound very determined! That's great.

Christina~I'm so sorry about your migraine. I get them also, so can relate. I hope the fat fast works for you. You are a stronger woman than I am. I tried it years ago for about half and day and quit.

Hi Tamekia!
You are the Woman!! You totally resisted that struesal cake at Starbucks, than you resisted that other "nasty", "gross" treat infront of your co-worker! Good for you on standing your ground!!!
I would have said the same thing you did if someone asked me if I was tempted!! I ain't gonna lie!!!

I really love their latte's too! I used to get them with the heavy cream and the sf sryup and decafe! Oh brother!!!
Now I just make my own delicious coffee, thanks to a gal on another thread.
I always imagine how I would feel if I would have eaten that dessert, before I decided to take a bite or eat the whole thing!

Almost like drinking too much. Do I want to feel good in the morning or wake to a hangover! Blech!!!

Hi Sue! I hope you're doing good today despite everythin going on!
Your menu looks good as usual! I'm praying that you'll start losing here soon and that everything works out for ya!! I still believe that this is our year!!!

Hi Luz! Thank you for sharing your story with all of us! It's hard sometimes to see how we really look, especially when we're not in our own comfortable environment. But sometimes we need a wake up call and it's never too late to start on a good way of eating! I pray that you will much success on this as we all have.
Your menu sounds good too!!!
Stop by as much as you want as often as you can and talk about anything you like!
Have a great day!

Hi Nkechi! Welcome aboard!! Tomorow is just as good a day as any!!!
See ya tomorrow!!!

Ahh, Christina! I do hope you get to feeling better!! Take care of yourself and get some rest!

These Ladies don't need my help! They all got it going on!!!! Whoohoo!!!!

Wow, so much great stuff here! Thanks for sharing everyone.

I was wondering if waking up early and really feeling ready to be up is due to induction?? I have had early wake-ups (before my 5 am alarm) for the past 2 days. I totally LOVE it since I usually rely on my alarm to get me up. I have felt rested and ready to go!

Last night, right before I woke up, I had the funniest dream. I was at an amusement park with my family and they were all off someplace enjoying a ride. I was walking around all the concessions looking for ice water. Not just a cold bottle of water, but regular old ice water in a pitcher ( my favorite way to enjoy water ). I looked and looked, but everytime I would see what I wanted, a huge crowd would come up and finish the pitcher.

The funny part is, I woke up soooooooo thirsty!! I drink between 90 and 100 oz of water a day, so this is pretty unusual

Maybe the extra energy and dryness is due to ketosis???

What are your thoughts?

Peace

Hi Jaimie! I believe we feel a certain way when we go through induction. I think at first with me, I was really tired and went to bed early. Then I would have all kinds of energy during the day, which is supposed to happen, then you start feeling normal, but good. At least with me. I'm sure others have had different experiences.

Oh that dream is so funny! It sounded like a movie where things like that happen. I bet you were really thirsty and dreamed about drinking water but since you were asleep, you just dreamed it beause you couldn't reach for it.

I guess that's better than having to go to the bathroom and in your dream you go, but wake up all of the sudden because you really have too!
I'm ashamed to admit, that has happened to me!!!

Someone had the nerve to bring in homemade molasses cookies this morning to work.. a HUGE platter full.. and placed them by the computer in the office... I never noticed them until I sat down at the computer to work. I smelled something yummmy and turned my head.

And what to my wondering eyes did appear? but a pile of cookies... just for me!!!!!!!!! (not really , but they were sitting there all alone waiting to be eaten)

You'll be proud of me... I reached out and PUSHED the platter away from me... get thee behind me cookies...

I figured, one cookie, will lead to another, then another , then another (cookies are my weakness) and what if they weren't as great as they smelled? then I would have cheated for nothing... and felt miserable for it.

Sigh... it feels good to be righteous....lol.....

Hello everyone!!!
Oh my God! I left to check my patients and you ladies go wild over here!!!!

Trust me resisting Starbuck's is no small plight for me. Diana, I saw where you mentioned a great coffee recipe. I'm all ears!!

Christina, those are great snack ideas and I will be stocking up on them. So pork rinds are OK in the induction phase? I LOVE pork rinds. I was just concerned about them during induction. You may not know it but that was helpful. I pray your migraine eases up. Bupap is the ONLY thing that eases mine.

Seb, am I reading this right? There is a LC version to the mocha from Starbuck's. I believe it's Vienne Cafe (?) that I purchase in the can and I really enjoy that as well; no Starbuck's but close enough. Any LC mocha/Latte suggestions are great. I must try the Gree Tea. I know it's weird but I do not care how hot it is out or inside, I love to have a hot drink. What's even more weird than that is the fact that I rarely drink/make hot drinks at home; go figure. Once again, I'm all ears!!

Diana, thanks for making those cakes sound awful. I think you used words like nasty and gross. When I read that I had to return to my original post because I was like, "What in the ham sandwich is Diana talking about? Those cakes were calling my name and jerking at my tongue." It almost worked. You really tried to make me feel like I wasn't missing anything. I have one better than that.............your description did work because it wasn't two minutes after reading that that I walked pass a mirror and boy did I appreciate thinking about how nasty and gross that cake would have been to my weight loss. Thanks, girlie!!

Welcome Luz. All I can say is ................I can definitely relate!!!

As quoted by Molly: You'll be proud of me... I reached out and PUSHED the platter away from me... get thee behind me cookies... Once again Diana has the resentment cure. She (Diana) states: I know how that smell good be intoxicating, but I bet they taste terrible!!!

Still struggling through day 2,
Tamekia

Wow! Look at all these losers in here!

I did NOT have a great first day of induction yesterday (peanuts were the culprit for me too), so today is my Day One of induction and I will NOT go off plan. I don't know what is wrong with me. I am having such a hard time sticking with this right now. I am up to 215 and if I don't get my eating under control I am going to gain all of this weight back. All of my clothes are too tight and I feel miserable.

New not to Atkins but.....

Hi there I was just hoping it would be okay to join you nice ladies on this thread. I have been lurking around on these boards for about a month but never posted. I have read through this whole thread and it looks like a good spot for me. If you'll have me
Here is my story. I did Atkins (first time) 9 years ago. My husband was put on it for high cholesterol, so I did it with him . I lost 25 lbs. it took about 6 months. Then I gained about five but maintained for years then another five maintained for awhile then my Mom got sick. Now, I am not a stress eater just the opposite. So she was ill with lung cancer for 6 months so I was at the hospital or Dr. office everyday so I just didn't eat. I lost that 10 lbs. But.....then my mom passed away and once all of the grieving slowed down I began to eat Normal maintenece low carb again, my body said no way and I gained 20lbs.
Now I have been trying to learn induction all over again. I tried to do it earlier this month, lost 3 pounds and gained it back the next week. But I was eating the flax muffins and cheesecake muffins. I am going to try to be very good this time I am on day four no caffeine no muffins. I am tracking everything on fiday. So wish me luck as I do to all of you. This is a struggle but I bet we can all be winners. You all have such a fun attitude and I can't wait to be a part of this group.

Chris~it's nice to have you here. I'm so sorry about your mom. I lost my dad a few months ago. It's just hard, even though we knew it was coming. You'll get lots of support here on this site!

Tammy~forget about those peanuts and start over. It's not the worst thing you could eat, ya know. Be like Diana and just don't feel guilty.

Molly~you are our hero for the day.

Tamekia~sorry, I didn't mean that Starbucks had an LC mocha. I wish they did. One of our local coffee stands does; they use a powdered mix that's LC but I can't think of the name right now. Oh, maybe Big Train is the brand name. I make my own mochas at home with cocoa powder, SF Torani's Chocolate Syrup, cream and coffee. It's pretty good.

Jaimie~I've had a dream similar to that and woke up really thirsty. But mine was that I drank and drank and drank water and couldn't get enough. I wake up earlier when I'm eating on plan, especially the first few days after starting back.

Molly~you are our hero for today.

Diana~thanks for cheering us all on!

Whew!!! I'm back! I totally forgot to let you all know that I had a meeting earlier today. It lasted 3 hours and I'm praying that everything goes in favor of my dad company!

Anyway, I missed so much! You Ladies are something else! I just love the fellowship here, it's awesome!!!

I forgot to mention my menu to, okay, here it is. No biggie!

B- 2 scrambled eggs, 2 small dry chicken patties!
L- 5 slices of dry salami, and um yeah. . . some peanuts!!!!! Gulp!
D- something with ground beef, taco salad or something.

Hello to Chrislukey and a big Welcome to you!!! You may post here anytime. Thank you for sharing a little bit about yourself. You have gone through alot! But where here for you and we'll help see you through this way of eating. I'm learning as I go along to, so no worries!!!

Hey Tamekia, I can make a hot fugde sundae look bad if I wanted too! Oh on that coffee, OMG! It's so good!!! I cannot take credit for it was given to me by someone named Shala.

It's Folgers Chocolate Silk coffee (in the small can), some heavy cream, the mocha splenda packets and either Davinci's Kahlua or Amaretto sf syrup and mix those together to suit your taste and Ohhhhh my gosh!!!! I was in love at first sip!!!! I have to have that every night for my dessert, but I think I need to chill out on it. But try it if you get the chance.

Hey Tammy, who you calling a loser! You better smile when you say that!! I hope I'm going to be a big loser! If I can stop drinking coffee with tons of cream! Don't worry about the nuts! I just ate some too! But oh well, Ce la vie! We'll get back on plan and start losing!! Enough foolishness right!!

Hi Sue! Oh you are such the cheerleader!!! How awesome! It's so good to see you spreading your good cheer around! Love it!!

Hi Deb the 80's Girl! Yeah I know, I came back from my meeting and I'm like where do I start and catch up!! I totally love it!!!
I hope your little one is getting better!
Hey Congrats on getting to 153! That's fantastic!! Keep it up, your going to blow away soon!

Hey Ladies, you sure are a great bunch!! I'm so glad that each and everyone of you are here. We're going to lose weight and keep it off!!!

Christina, I sure hope you get to feeling good! I can't imagine what a migraine feels like, but boy I know it's no fun.

Take care of yourself, rest if when you need it and please try to relax.

I want to join in! I started a new thread not too long ago about my fear of the "golden shot" theory...which I'm happy to say, I'm no longer worried about!

In June 2006, following a bad breakup, I started Atkins, and in the following 6 months lost about 20 pounds. After that, I'll admit I got a little too lenient on my carb intake, and at 15 pounds from goal, I was at total standstill for an entire year. I tried Weight Watchers, learned it's absolutely not for me (fat free foods...blech), and have been back on my second round of induction for about a week. I've lost two pounds, and I think what I really need to learn to do is stay off the scale! The fluctuations discourage me...I'm trying to force myself to only weigh in once a week.

That's my story...I'm enjoying reading all the old posts and could use a little support myself as I inch closer to getting rid of the last 15 pounds!
