WOE: Atkins Induction
Start Date: June 2009
Hi and a question

First Hello!

I lost 67 pounds on Atkins 8 years ago. And I'm restarting it now, with much more than 67 pounds to go

I have tried to start it here and there over the last 5 years, but it never worked. Well this time it's working at least as well as the first time.
11 pounds in the first week. (Last time it was 17 in the first TWO)

But - I'm a little confused about something.
We cooked just plain ol' chuck roasts from Stater Brothers, and it's knocked me out of ketosis. Any ideas why? (And yes, i know that's what it is, because that's all I had - and it was dark red before, and barely light after.)

Thanks!

Welcome Ginney! There's a lot of support here, just jump right in.

Welcome Cattsmom! You're doing great with your loss. I can't help you with the roast thing, but I never put my faith in those sticks - I could never get them to turn colour even though all the other ketosis signs were there.

What are you planning on doing for your birthday Kim?

Hi cattsmom!
I agree with Kim, but I was wondering if the meat was pre-seasoned? If you seasoned it yourself, then I wouldn't worry about it. If it was pres-seasoned, maybe it has sugar.

Just throwing some things out there.

Hi everybody!

I apologize too because, like Christina, I've been hanging at FB! I am obsessed with Farm Town - LOL!

Izzy, my question about Stillmans is, how is your transition from Stillmans to Induction? I am afraid that if I do Stillmans then go back to Atkins, I will just gain those pounds back. I LOVE fat; olive oil, fat meats, mayo, etc. so I was wondering how that would be for me to stop all of that and then go back.

Anyone who can answer, please do!

Hope everybody is having a great weekend! Mary, miss you.

Me too, Karen. I stall at 180 every single stinking time. That's why I was contemplating Stillmans for a few weeks. I can eat meat and eggs, no problem but I don't know if I could do without fat. And then trying to transition back to Induction, I'd be afraid I'd gain it back.

What do you do when you stall? At least you are still losing now and then.

Doesn't Christina look SKINNY!?!?!?!?! Well, technically, she IS skinny - LOL! I can't wait to get where you are, Christina! I try to remember that it takes a while to take off years worth.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. It's hot as 40 hells here already in the Va. Beach area. Kicking myself for not having a pool but if I get a pool then I get my kids, grandkids, their friends, in-laws, etc. No thanks, I'll go stick my head under the water hose! Or play on the neighbor kids slip and slide when they aren't home! Oh what an image that is!

see yall later

Happy Solstice! Happy Fathers Day to all the dads and single moms who are mom and dad!

How is everybody doing??? I am enjoying my coffee and checking my garden. The baby wrens in Bob's wren house have grown and flown away so the mom and dad wrens aren't keeping the other birds and squirrels out of the yard. That means I have to do double duty on the veggie garden check.

Check in when you can! Have a wonderful day!

Menu:

B - 2 eggs, bunches of bacon, 2 cups joe with splenda and HWC
L - tomatoe, lettuce and cuc salad with homemade ranch
D - not sure yet but some kinda meat without veggies

Good morning Ladies!!

How's was everyone's weekend? I had fun, got together with my family on Friday and had a ball. Saturday was quiet, but DH and I did go to breakfast at my sisters house. Then Sunday, I ate a steak at my parents house and that was it.

I did good with my eating except for lunch yesterday, but it'll be fine.

How is everyone doing??

sucks because I was actually down 3lb from SFF then had to go off it TWICE because the Dr wanted a second GTT

So I am just doing fat fast for a few days then back to SFF.

Ok, I just finished the second week of Atkins - 16 pounds down. The best part is it was TOM part of the second week, and I still lost.

I've never stayed back on it more than 10 days, so I'm so thrilled, and because it's working as well as it did that first time - I know it'll keep working well.

I have read through several of the threads here, I had stalled at 12, drank more water, cut tea to bare minimum, and upped my calories, I didn't think it was possible for me to have THAT many calories (I am trying for the 10 x my body weight), but adding a bit of cream here and there through the day, definitely adds up. I also made sure to eat my veggies, and sure enough a nice whoosh.

Keep on keeping on.

I can relate. It's crazy sad how quickly we can gain with only 1 week off.
I actually just counted calories yesterday (1450 for the day) and lost 2# overnight. I hope it all comes off that quickly.

I was down 4 or so from SFF. I am going back on as well on Monday.

Have a good weekend!
Cary~
