hi. i'm syima from malaysia
i did low carb after bought the Dr A's book back then in 2002. Then i've stop low carbing. lost 40lbs..then maintaining with LF diet... (i havent gained anything for more than 2 years).. down another 40lbs. then i started working.. my diet messed up.. oh.. i gained 60lbs back! due to stress working environtment.

so it's not true that if you dont do low carb anymore you'll gain weight.

i've started induction 5 days ago and lost 11 lbs

Morning

I am going to try and keep on track today, we are having a bbq, i have brought lots meat, so hopefully keep to plan. I made cookies and strawberry cuke cakes for the rest of the family as a treat. I never even licked my finger, as i was making them.

We went to Yorktown beach lastnight to strool along the beach, there where lots of people around and loads of police, so don't no what was going on. Even undercover police, it was lovely just to walk on the beach at night.

Can anyone tell me how to make an egg cream, i have forgot how to make it since doing LC last time.

Hope eveyone has a fantastic day.

Karen

Memorial weekend

Not much going on here no bbq . My hubby is a butcher so we can get pretty much what we want as far as steaks & etc... He had to work today but is bringing home some ground chuck because I have been craving a nice big hamburger...
I have been drinking crystal Light Pink Lemonade and really like it. Has anyone else tried it? It says 0 carbs on it. Hope it is. Yesterday I had a glass with a jigger of vodka and I still dropped lb so i guess it was ok..
Hope everyone is having a great Memorial Day

Afternoon all... Happy Memorial Day!!

Just wanted to check in...I had a BIG BBQ today also..I fixed 12 hamburgers, 10 pieces of center pork loin, 4 2 inch ribeye steaks, and 12 boneless chicken breast and 8 hot dogs on my Char-Griller..could not take pics because it rained the whole time with Storms still around and I didnt want to get my good camera wet. Promise I will next time if its pretty. I fixed enough for me to eat VLC all this week..and they all fit on there at one time expect for the hot dogs... One big grill/smoker I have now and I LOVE it!! We gave away our Gas Grill to my sister in law and we are going to get us just a small cheap gas one next year just to have...just LOVE the taste of cooking with Charcoal much better and didnt burn anything so NO cancer risk..lol

For the past couple of days my appetite has been really small and I am back down to 127 again even with eating my LC Pound Cake...NO SA in the cake so I know now I can have LC sweet without SA's and I will stilll lose or stay the same.

Hope everyone has had a great Memorial Day!!

HUGS

I can see why that might happen... Just make sure you are drinking enough water while you exercise because high ketones can also be from dehydration.

Karen, when you start induction it can take a couple of days to really get into good ketosis, I agree with MP too, dehydration can also be the culprit.
I probably have the effects from dehydration too.

Morning Ladies,
I stayed very lc with my food this weekend....But, I did drink lc beer all weekend and my ketosticks have stayed pretty dark too. Man, is it tuff living in a resort park! We stayed pool side for two days, everyone had coolers filled with beer and margarita's! ( I did drink a tiny one at the dance Saturday night ) I cooked a brisket for the weekend and our friends did fajitas, of course there were the hot dogs and hamburgers too! I bought Nathan's hot dogs, they are so yummy, only 1 carb per dog. I also made lc coleslaw, it was pretty darn tasty!

Tom arrived this morning..., of course I'm glad he waited til after the weekend to show up, but, I felt bloaty the whole time. Maybe I'll let go of some of this water now! I hope so.

I am going to challenge my self to walk everyday, rain or shine, from today, til the end of our challenge in July. I have been hit or miss with the exercise part, and I really want to lose that 20 lbs...anyone want to join with me?

I agree
I kinda wish it was made with Splenda, but I guess if I stay away from Asp as far as adding it to things, it's alright. In Stubborn Fat Fix, the Berkowitzs recommend rotating sweeteners so that you don't get too much of any one sweetener.

Yes.

But just to be clear I am not saying it was dehydration and not exercise... it could have been one or the other, or a combination of both.

Ok, I know I have posted over the weekend, but Im checking into for the beginning of the week.

This starts my second week of induction. And I have been very good. No cheating, and my plan is to never cheat. One cheat leads to another for me, and all of a sudden Im back to eating everything in sight.

I had the dog show on Sat and Sunday, and we didnt go anywhere on Monday, so there was no temptation really there...well there were the usual food vendors that I like to frequent at the show, and my husband did go and get lunch for himself and brought back Stromboli...that was a little tough, but it was psycological, because I was full from my hard boiled eggs.

today's menu:

B: coffee w/cream
2 eggs with cream cheese

L: beef stew

D: turkey/spinach/cheese quiche
1 c spinach
1 c green beans

Hi Karen! The meatballs were from TJs... they actually had fewer carbs in them than the beef ones. Of course if I made my own they would be even less

The chocolate... well, I have some home made (from the Atkins book) and also have a couple 85%+ bars in the freezer. They have real sugar, but at this point I am figuring 4 grams of carbs total, a couple of which are from sugar, is far better than 20+ carbs, mostly sugar alcohol. My homemade one is with splenda, the store bought ones are cane sugar (no HFCS here!), the chocolate is only semi-sweet (AKA bittersweet) but it's really good for having a small amount and not having portion control issues. I would love to melt some and pour it over unsweetened coconut and raw almonds (both of which have natural sweetness but are pretty dang LC. Also want to make choc covered strawberries!

chocolate obsession: Review: Lindt Excellence 85% this one is really popular here on LCF Lindt - Excellence 85% Cocoa Bar I found it at CVS/Pharmacy. 2 (fairly large) squares are 8 total carbs, 3 of which are fiber. I eat 1 square at a time.

Here's another option Endangered Species Chocolate 88% Cocoa ... also found at CVS/Pharmacy / Longs. 3.4 total carbs per square, 1.2g from fiber.

And one more... I really like this one, it has a strong "berry" flavor, but it's just the chocolate that tastes that way! (there are like 4 total ingredients)... Would be great for the choc covered strawberry idea. 5 total carbs per square (a little more than 1" sq), again half or more of that being fiber... and very satisfying.
Valrhona Le Noir Extra Amer - Dark Chocolate - Healthy Chocolate I found this one at trader joes. The beans are from Africa.

It may be worth noting that the endangered species one is ethicly traded (small family owned farms, fair pay)
