Thanks to all of you for the ! I am going thru an extremely stressful couple weeks, so this will be a challenge for sure! Nice to know I have all the support I need right here. I agree with Nancy...We are an awesome bunch! .

Yesterday was crazy...didn't have time to eat a thing until about 4:00 (cut up rotiserrie chicken and a piece of leftover meat crust pizza). Then I got busy at home and ended up grabbing a few pork rinds and a piece of bologna at about 9:00! Pretty pathetic, huh? But at least it was on plan.

Lots of running around today! Later!

Morning all..I know what you mean...I stayed so busy yesterday that I just ate 3 hamburger patties and thought I would be down this morning..NOT!! Still 128.8!! I know now that has GOT to be that darn Nuva Ring.

Mike has to go in early again so Brandon and I are going to go to Mt. Airy, NC to buy our plants to put in our garden the end of next week. I think I will look around at the flea markets and go in Big Lots and Save a Lot and see if I can get any good buys...

My throat got sore last night and I think I have a sight cold again..took a Advil Cold and Sinus and feel pretty good right now. Might be because it just yesterday got into the 80's here and ran our AC in the house and car for the first time..suppsose to be 80 again and then only 60 Monday...everyone will be sick again...time for it to stay warm here now...

Everyone have a great LC weekend..Di dont have too much fun without me GF...

HUGS

Hi Christina, you're in the 80's finally, lol. That's awesome!! Yeah, the change in temps can do that with our bodies, as you know. But I'm glad you are feeling better.
I'm not having any fun, lol! Oh wait, DH and I have been playing with my nephews wii and using the sports part of it. We've been playing tennis, boxing and bowling. Boy what a work out!! It's very fun, and keeps me moving.
So that's my fun, lol.

I'll be baaaacckkk!!

Hey girls, mind if I join? I could really use some inspiration. I'll give you a quick background. Tried Atkins don't know how many times, never could stick to it. This time, was doing well, (sorry TMI coming) but had the poos for several days. Everytime I eat have them for a couple hours, get over it, then it was time to eat again. Finally broke down last night and ate what I wanted at applebee's, complete with dessert. What do you know... no poohs. Has anyone experienced this? I am really struggling this morning wondering if I get back on the program or not. BTW scale says I am down 0.4 since yesterday.

Hi CodyLyne!
Absolutely, come and hang out with us!!

I don't know what to tell you about the poo, except maybe if you're eating fat, that could happen. You're body may not be able to handle alot. But if you can post what you've been eating, we can all take a look to see what's going on.

Thanks for the welcome. I'll be the first to admit I don't eat a ton of veggies. Usually only at dinner. Also, I drink the occasional atkins shake for breakfast. Mostly it is shake or scrambled eggs for breakfast, cheese and sausage for lunch and some sort of meat, cottage cheese or salad and usually a veggie for dinner. I did eat sugar free candy a couple times and I figured that was the culprit, but it continued on several days after it was gone.

On a side note. Can you tell me how you insert the cute smileys? I am new to the forum world. I look a lot, but this is the first time I posted. Thanks again

Hi Karen! My husband, Bob, and I take the ferry to Jamestown/Williamsburg all of the time! It's a cheap daycation! We drive over and ride on the Colonial Parkway, stopping to check out the small beaches. Then we ride into Colonial Williamsburg, walk around to the Capitol, see the Fife and Drum Corp, watch the tourist take carriage rides down the dirt roads and see all of the period costumes of Colonial times. Afterwards, we hit the bookstore and Seasons Restaurant. Then take the ferry back to my side of the James River. It's a nice day and only takes us a couple of hours to go by ferry. And during off season (Sept-March) you can actually rent a room in one of the colonial homes right on the main street through Colonial Williamsburg for less than $100.00.
Sound like a commercial, eh?

Been staying with good menu choices. I am finally over the hunger phase. And I try to keep busy so I don't think of eating all of the time. The garden and composting, and working on greening our home is taking up a lot of time.

You all have a wonderful day! It's raining and windy with a temp in the mid 60's! LOVIN IT!

Hi Ladies!!

Hi CodyLyne, I think it could have been the candy. When I've eaten the low carb ice cream, that will give me the poops for at least a couple of days. It's the sugar alcohols in it that do that.

Hi Cindy, great pictures!! I would love to visit that area, one day when I have the money to spend. I can come visit you and Christina, lol.

Hi Chris, that would be a fun vacation for you!!

Hi Karen, that sounded so much fun, picking strawberries. I would be eating them as I pick, lol.

Hi Pixie, have a great day!

Hi to everyone else!!

Hi Chris! WOW! You have picked a very patriotic weekend for Colonial Williamsburg! LOL!! And I'll warn ya now - it's going to be very crowded! I hope you already have your reservations. As far as places to eat - OMG - there are lots of restaurants in Colonial Williamsburg but just down the road, there is Richmond Rd., which we call "Restaurant Road". There are TONS of places on both sides of the highway, crammed together like row houses! Besides the chains like Olive Garden, Applebys type places, there are bunches of pancake houses, a plethora of steak houses, Aberdeen Barn being my favorite and you have your McDonalds, Taco Bell, KFC's. And throughout that general area there are a lot of eateries upscale and regular. Colonial Williamsburg and the College of William and Mary share that same space. It's fun to see all the college kids hanging out. They are great kids there. You will see and hear representatives of every country in the world walking down those streets.
It's also going to be very hot that time of summer. Here, we have to deal with very high humidity so it's very steamy. Be sure to have a gallon of sunscreen, hats to protect your face and head and FLIP FLOPS! If you haven't made hotel reservations yet, make sure you get one with an outdoor pool!
Also, I have to mention, that there are passes you can get once you get to the Colonial Williamsburg Visitors Center, that allow you to visit some places that are off limits if you do not have a pass. The Foundation sells them in several ways, for instance, you can purchase day passes, passes for a weekend or for a year. It also allows you to use the bus transit there which is real nice to be able to use here in July! You carry your pass around with you and can see extras like you can go into the Capital building gardens, or visit the smith shop and watch the workers, and there is a period printing office. So if you are going to be there for two days, it will be worth it to purchase a pass or you will pretty much see Colonial Williamsburg in a day!
Right down the road (about 10 mins. away) is Busch Gardens and a water park and a brewery to visit. Tons of plantations, parks, walking trails.

Now, Va Beach is not my forte. I love the ocean but mostly at night. I can't take all that sun. It's a wonderful place to go off season but I just can't do the peak season unless they are having some bands playing on the oceanfront that I'd love to see. If you like herbs, organic and natural foods, and psychics, don't miss The Heritage Store and ARE - the Association for Research and Enlightenment founded by Edgar Casey. And next door to The Heritage is a long standing well known deli called the Jewish Mother. Love it!

Sorry this is so long but I am just trying to give you more vivid look into these parts! We are nice folks around here for the most part. There are no strangers.

We'll talk again before your trip if you like!

Hi ladies! I did not get on yesterday but I came to the library today, I forgot to print out the tests I need and the address for the Dr's office so I can go tomorrow!
so here I am... got the info, and wanted to say hello.
I was supposed to take the first pill of my new BCP pill pack, but pretty much decided I am going off of it anyway, so didn't take it I really hope it helps... other methods are annoying and cumbersome. Oh well, hubby agrees, whatever is healthiest for me is what he wants.

cheese crackers

Hi again!

I know a lot of you know about making crackers out of cheese. But some folks don't know you can use the microwave which is faster and virtually no clean up.
You can use either parchment paper or those nice heavy wax coated paper plates (Dixie). I've tried just about every kind of hard cheese, but have not tried swiss or gouda. You can even use shredded paremsan!

My favorites are Cabot Seriously Sharp cheddar and any kind of Pepper Jack.

Cut the cheese (hahaha loved telling you that) in small, thin squares. Only put four on the plate at a time at 12, 3, 6 and 9 positions. Microwave on high for 1:15 minutes. They come right off the plate and are crispy, delicate, pretty crackers! Taste just like Cheese Nips.
You can add just about any kind of herb or spice on them too before you nuke them. I've tried dill, garlic, cumin, adobo, italian seasoning and my favorite, Old Bay!

But don't eat many as they all have a lot of sodium. I can make about 8-10 crackers using less than an ounce of cheese. I've been eating these for a couple of years because they satisfy my cracker fiend. My co-workers are hooked!

I use Kraft DELUXE american slices...read the labels, they have <1 carbs! I also use parchment paper in the microwave.

WOW! thanks so much for all the info! Yeah I know it will be hot but it is the only time we can go My Ds is going to take Phys ed over the Summer. So there is only 2 days between reg school and Summer School thanks to all the snow days we had!We are going to be there on the 11th...we thought it would be less crowded then, right after the holiday week. We are used to the humidity we have it bad here in the summer. We were planning to visit Busch Gardens too. We have all our hotels booked already. We are staying on the ocean when we are in Virginia Beach....Just can't wait to walk out the back door and the Ocean will be right there! Thank you again for the info I really do appreciate it we knew nothing about the area but wanted to go somewhere that we could be right on the ocean and enjoy the Sun! We are also scoping out places to retire(some years away) But we are looking at the South it is just too cold up here in the Winters!

He cried to go to school and I didnt want to send him and within 30 min they called and told me to come and get him..said his temp was 100 but when I got home it was just 98!! Oh well...going to take him to be on the safe side..I am SO glad there is only 4 more weeks of school left for this year!

Chris

Good Morning Everyone,

Glad to see everyone is doing so well, I stuck to plan Saturday, but I had my first major meltdown yesterday. I went to the Renaissance Fair yesterday and went off plan. I drank a pear cider, ate french fries, fresh pineapple, a bite of roasted corn, 2 hanfuls of candied almonds, a huge bean and beef burrito, and a half a grab bag of cheetos! I had a really good time with my family, but I know that I should have used better self control. Back on plan today.....

Hi Everyone!

Hi Chris, Sounds like a fun time you're going to have!! Hope you take some pictures.

Hi Christina, wow sick again, I'm sorry to hear that. I think it's funny how B loves to go to school and cries when you don't want to send him. That's great that he loves it!! Get well soon!!

Hi Nancy, um, you and me both!! I won't go in to the gory details, but boy this month is so hard. Too many things happening. Starting clean too!

On the cheese, I use the pre-shredded kind and make them in a skillet. I don't mind the extra work. I do love these too!

B- 4 oz shoulder steak, 2 cups coffee w/ hc
l- 4oz shoulder steak
d- not sure, maybe a small salad with steak.
lots of water

Have a great day Ladies!!

Hi ladies! I am so excited... got back from the Drs. I am off the pill and decided to go with a barrier method until hubby and I decide to get pregant and also might chart so that the barrier method is less inconvinient (= not all the time). Then, if/after we have a successful pregnancy I will go with paraguard (hormone free IUD) hope this isn't all TMI, but for me, it IS weight related. :/

This is an e-mail I sent to Valerie Berkowitz (lowcarbdietician) who is guiding me through all this.

Today I met my new GP... he's very easy going, I gave him your name and told him about the eating plan (level 1), I brought the book with me but he said I could summarize. He said that he is onboard with "controlled carbohydrate diets" and that even the hospital that he's associated with took the ADA diet off of their system entirely because it doesn't work, and now suggest a "controlled carbohydrate" approach for diabetics, yay! He ordered everything you suggested that I request. Only problem, freeT3 was not even listed as an option with the lab I am going to. I got free T4, but not free T3.
I am going Saturday since two of the tests are time consuming (the GTT w/ insulin and the cortisol). I am going to try a barrier method so I am officially off the pill (did not take it yesterday or today) and after we have a successful pregnancy later, I will probably get an IUD... no more hormones for me, at least until I get my weight issues resolved.
If I need to have you review the results, you mentioned making an appointment through your center, will they be able to tell me the cost? Thanks!
