Thanks Diana for the welcome & also the mega useful post on induction foods
this is going to really help me out today (wont get time to read the book until tonight)

Breakfast will be a smoked salmon 2 egg omelette with some mushrooms
Lunch will be some salad & cold turkey meat

Not sure about dinner yet...think I will need to make sure I write meal plan for the two weeks of induction so I dont end up staring into the fridge & grabbing carbs

My worst time for craving carbs is usually the evening once my 11 year old is in bed & Im watching TV

crystalmoon to our wonderful little family. It's a great place to get information, recipes and laughter. They try to answer every question so don't be afraid to ask. And speaking of questions....what's an oopsie?

Well, I was very bad (well, not very bad, just bad) last night. I made some brownies for my husband to take to work this week and ended up licking the bowl. I think, if measured, it was about 1/2 tspn. Shame on me!!!!

Joke of the day:

Food and Heaven

This 85 year old couple, having been married almost 60 years, had died in a car crash. They had been in good health the last ten years mainly due to her interest in health food, and exercise.

When they reached the pearly gates, St. Peter took them to their mansion which was decked out with a beautiful kitchen and master bath suite and Jacuzzi.

As they "oohed and aahed" the old man asked Peter how much all this was going to cost.

"It's free," Peter replied, "this is Heaven."

Next they went out back to survey the championship golf course that the home backed up to. They would have golfing privileges everyday and each week the course changed to a new one representing the great golf courses on earth.

The old man asked, "what are the green fees?".

Peter's reply, "This is heaven, you play for free."

Next they went to the club house and saw the lavish buffet lunch with the cuisines of the world laid out.

"How much to eat?" asked the old man.

"Don't you understand yet? This is heaven, it is free!" Peter replied with some exasperation.

"Well, where are the low fat and low cholesterol tables?" the old man asked timidly.

Peter lectured, "That's the best part...you can eat as much as you like of whatever you like and you never get fat and you never get sick. This is Heaven."

With that the old man went into a fit of anger, throwing down his hat and stomping on it, shrieking wildly.

Peter and his wife both tried to calm him down, asking him what was wrong. The old man looked at his wife and said, "This is all your fault! If it weren't for your blasted bran muffins, I could have been here ten years ago!"

Hope this gets everyone started on a good note. You ladies are great!!! See ya later.
Mary

Hi Jamie this is NancyElle's recipe so good. For the sauce I just use a small can of tomato sauce mixed with garlic powder oregano and basil.

For a delicious thin and crispy crust just combine
2 cups shredded mozzerella
1 Cup shredded cheddar
(or 3 cups shredded mozzerella~or any hard cheese of your choice)
3 LARGE eggs

seasonings of your choice

combine and pat into a crust on a sixteen inch pam sprayed pizza pan or cookie sheet

bake at 450 for 10 to 15 minutes

you will yield a lovely crispy, thin, bready, yummy crust that looks like this without flipping or adjusting anything Crispy on the edges; thin and chewy....DIVINE!

Morning ladies! Yeah I knew I shouldn't claim those 2 pounds they are back again today

Jennifer ..don't woryy about doing something wrong if you already lost 3 pounds you are obviously doing something right!!!

Back at it---Congrats on the 3 pound loss hope work eases up a bit for you.

Mary oopsies are bun like things made from eggs and cream cheese. You can find variations of them all over the boards.....yummy! Thanks for another laugh this morning

Hey Diana thanks for posting all the rules it was good to go over them again. You know I followed Dr. A's book from '92 I think the first time I did Atkins in 99. Now I am following the book from 2000 I think the first time I followed a version closer to 72 because I never counted caloreis or worried about drinking diet pop. I didn't realize the diet changed so much. No wonder I was like, hey I don't remember that! I lent someone my 92 book years ago I am going to have to get it back.

Ok, Menu for today
B- bacon egg and cheese on oopsie
L- ???
D- Subway BMT with all the toppings and no bun

Hi Ladies!!!

Hi Lin! Good for you on the 3lbs down!!! That's great keep up the good work!!!
You are doing so well on this!!

Hi Crystalmoon! You're quite Welcome!!! I'm glad you brought that up because it got me into wanting to look at that again!! So Thank you!!!

Hi Mary! Oh don't worry about the finger-licking brownie moment! I've done that, and you know, we just can't help it!! But no harm no foul!!
Thanks for continuing to post the funnies!! That was a good one!!

Hi Jen, Welcome!! Stick around, you'll find a lot of helpful info here, plus there's lots of support here too! So don't hesitate to ask anything and post anything you like!!

Hi Jaimie!, how was your vacation week off! I hope you were able to have some fun with your family. How did your eating go for the week? I bet you did great!! The Red Sox are a good team aren't they! You got our Curt Schilling!!

Hi Chris, I'm sure those lbs are just water. You'll get rid of that!!!
I just made that pizza this weekend too! Actually Friday. I thought it was alright. I don't think I made it correctly, I thought I was supposed to flip it, but I didn't do it. I may try it again, but I think it's way too much cheese for me. I didn't realize there were so many versions of Atkins? I have only heard of the 73 and 2000 version. I wonder how different they are from each other, after 73.

Hi Christina! I hope you have a Happy Anniversary!!! I hope that you have a great day and that all goes smoothly for you!!
I'm going to try and send that thing out in the mail today.
Have a great day!!!

I cleaned my spare bedroom out Saturday and did some rearraning in it and moved my elliptical so I can have access to it. I did 30 minutes on it today! I was so happy about that!! I'm going to keep using it until I get out of the 200's!

My menu:
B- 2 scrambled eggs, 1 small serving of Cleo's bread sticks' cut in a square.
L- a small green salad and a some tuna.
D- Fish and a vegetable.
Water, coffee.

I'm back...needed a break from my screaming 10 yr old DS.

Diana, I am on vacation this whole week until Sunday. It is off to a wonderful start on the home front. I'm sure you remember that I am dedicating my week to re-organizing my home. Well, so far I have completely cleaned and organized my large kitchen and am now working on our out-of-control mud room. I need to switch over our winter clothes to spring and summer stuff, so lots of matching up of mittens and gloves, lots of jackets to wash and store and school uniforms to try on and switch out.

Both of my boys have gotten taller as of late, and their slacks are getting too short. Thank goodness for summer uniforms! I will have the boys try on all their slacks and pass along the ones that are too small for DS2, store the ones from DS1 and BLESSEDLY, we have a whole bin of hand me downs from friends, so I am sure I can rustle up the next sizes for both boys.

You know, going through everything and passing along our abundance to others in need, is always such an eyeopener. We are so blessed by friends and family that pass along their extras to us!

Well, back to the mudroom and the Red Sox!

BBL

hi jennifer and crystalmom this is such a great bunch of ladies...they have saved me many times from making a mistake and raiding the snack cabinet lol..

Mary the oopsie rolls are amazing... I was skeptical at first bcause i had tried them as the revolution rolls in atkins book and honestly they were disgusting...but after reading the thread and trying cleos "mistake" they were great...somethings just need a bread like bun... so two dozen eggs later I got it down and make these every two or three days..they were perfect with sloopy joes (lc recepie on linda sues website)

Jamie I am envious of your spring cleaning!!! I tried last week on my day off but honestly I think I have ADD because I kept getting distracted and ended up outside on a lounge chair, reading a book Maybe next day off.

Diana thank you for posting that info on Both Atkin's plans...I can't find my book... I am pretty sure someone around here has hidden it.

chris don't worry about those lbs...just water, they will soon be down the drain!!
Off to work...everyone have a great day!! Everyone is doing so great

I would love to try the oopsie rolls. Now, if someone would just tell me how to make them

Here it is 2:10 pm and all I've had is some teryaki beef jerky, some pork rinds and water. I've just been busy doing things inside the house and cleaning the pool that I totally forgot to eat.

My little maine coon, Sadie, keeps following me everywhere I go. She's so funny. She doesn't like to be picked up but sure loves to cuddle. She came from a high kill shelter (why do they call it a shelter if it's "high kill"?) Anyway, we adopted both our cats at 7 months old. They really are entertaining.

Here's my latest chuckle. Enjoy!!!!

AMAZINGLY SIMPLE HOME REMEDIES
1. Avoid cutting yourself when slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold them while you chop.
2. Avoid arguments with the Mrs. about lifting the toilet seat by using the shower.
3. For high blood pressure sufferers: simply cut yourself and bleed for a few minutes, thus reducing the pressure in your veins. Remember to use a timer.
4. A mouse trap, placed on top of your alarm clock, will prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep after you hit the snooze button.
5. If you have a bad cough, take a large dose of laxatives, then you will be afraid to cough.
6. You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn 't move and does, use the duct tape.

Cleochatra's Best Ever Revol-Oopsie Rolls

3 large eggs
1 pkg Splenda
dash of salt
pinch of cream of tartar
3 ounces cream cheese (not Tbsp!) Do not soften!

Preheat oven to 300 degrees.

Separate the eggs and add Splenda, salt, and cream cheese to the yolks. Use a mixer to combine the ingredients together. In a separate bowl, whip egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff (if you're using the same mixer, mix the whites first and then the yolk mixture). Using a spatula, gradually fold the egg yolk mixture into the white mixture, being careful not to break down the whites. Spray a cookie sheet with non-stick spray and spoon the mixture onto the sheet, making 6 mounds. Flatten each mound slightly.

Bake about 30 minutes (You want them slightly softer, not crumbly). Let cool on the sheet for a few minutes, and then remove to a rack and allow them to cool. Store them in a bread sack or a ziplock bag to keep them from drying out.

Makes 6@ about 85 calories a piece, >1 carb per

I hope you have a great day!!! Let us know when you have a loss!!!

Hi Rachel! Yeah missed you over the weekend! I was thinking were is our other funny Gal!!
I have had that happen to me too when I have tried to post something! Ugh! Then I can't remember what I said. Usually instead of hitting the exclamation key, I hit the tab key and if I hit that twice, it sends my post! But when I've hit a certain, which I haven't figured out what I hit, it erases it!
Your menu sounds really good!!

Mary, when you check out Cleos website, she has so many things you can do with an Oopsie roll, plus with cauliflower! It's a good blog!!

Good evening young ladies

Diana - Thank you for the "oopsie" recipe. Can't wait to try it out. I'll let you know how it turned out.

If I missed any new people... ... I'm not as good at the welcome wagon as some of the others. I just try to bring a bit of laughter to the room. It seems to make the diet thing a little easier. I judge my weight loss by how much less fat is jiggling when I laugh

Nothing exciting to report today. I know, what a boring day I've had. Well, you're right. I think tomorrow I'll go to the grocery store and see how many people I can watch trying to open up those little plastic bags by the vegetable section. Always good for a laugh or two... I wonder if the cameras zoom in on that.

Before I leave, here's my evening chuckle. Enjoy and have a wonderful evening.

MISSING HUSBAND

Rick was in trouble. He forgot his wedding anniversary. His wife was really angry. She told him “Tomorrow morning, I expect to find a gift in the driveway that goes from 0 to 200 in less than 10 seconds, AND IT BETTER BE THERE!!”

The next morning Rick got up early and left for work. When his wife woke up she looked out the window and sure enough there was a box gift-wrapped in the middle of the driveway. Confused, the wife put on her robe and ran out to the driveway, and brought the box back in the house.

She opened it and found a brand new bathroom scale.

Rick has been missing since Friday.
Please pray for him

Hi! I'm Tracey who wishes she were in Tuscany. Thus the name. Or Provence. But it's not as alliterative that way. (gallic shrug)

I first went on Atkins, sort of, in 2002, the day after Easter. I had been wanting to do something about my weight for some time, and I decided that morning when I woke up that that was it for me. I'd been hearing about Atkins that spring. I went to the Atkins website and pulled down the Induction Allowable Foods, and poked around there and learned a lot about it. That was just after his death, and there was tons there and it was easy to find.

I was so strapped for cash I had to pick between food and the book, so I never bought the book at that time. Later my MIL gave it to me for Christmas.

I lost about 35 lbs. in 2.5 months, and then another 10 slowly over the next year. Slowly because I discovered Atkins bars, and they stalled me (but I didn't realize it). But my initial loss was so quick and noticeable, especially since I'd been "trying" to diet for years and had done "everything right"--low fat, high carb--that almost everyone in both my husband's and my side of the family joined me. First my husband, then my mom, and then the rest of them.

I stalled, but kept losing very slowly until I became pregnant a couple of years later. And even then I was doing very well until my midwife put me on a very carby diet late in the pregnancy. Then I gained 10 lbs. a week for 6 weeks, gaining back everything I'd lost and then some.

That apparently did something to my metabolism and made me leptin-resistant. I nursed the baby for 2.5 years, and then tried to go on Atkins again. Nothing budged. I was so upset.

The I read about Rosedale. I started trying it about this time last year. I stayed on it religiously until late July and lost about 40 lbs. It seems to have mostly fixed my metabolism.

But I couldn't find any easy recipes for the first part of it, other than endless variations on a salad. I was getting extremely bored with it, and it was hard not to cheat. I sort of stayed on it, with lots of cheating, through late September, then stopped completely. I was so tired of almost 6 months of scrambled eggs and salads!

I started gaining. By January, I had gained back 30 of the 40 I'd lost.

So I started trying to go back on Atkins. But my family was very different from 6 years ago. Instead of a preschooler and a toddler, I had two school-aged kids in lots of activities that kept us gone in the evenings. Plus a toddler. My wing-it strategy wasn't working, and I'd be on plan for anywhere from 2 meals to 2 days, and then fall off it because I didn't have anything planned for dinner and was too pooped to go out and shop again, so I'd fall back on whatever was in the cupboard. Or ordering pizza.

And I was really determined! I was really beating myself up over the whole situation.

I wondered how other people did it. My DD was accepted in January at a famous pre-professional ballet academy. The kids are there at least 5 hours a week, with that increasing as they go up levels. Some of these moms seem to live there. Yet many of them are thin.

So I asked how they managed to do it. Their answer? A slow cooker! (The heavy ones said "fast food". )

So I started brainstorming: could I do a low-carb way of life with a slow cooker? All I knew from a slow cooker was pot roast, cheese dip, chili, barbecue sausages, and stew. At least four of those things were pretty carby.

Now, I was used to having my weekly menus emailed to me through a service, but it wasn't low-carb. It had helped when my kids had had a slightly more manageable schedule, but not when we often got home at 9 p.m. And I'd seen a couple of "low-carb" slow cooker cookbooks that were low-fat and had 30 g. + of carbs in a single recipe.

So I did some research on slow cookers and found a good, programmable one. Then I came here and asked about recommendations for good, low-carb cookbooks (there is a thread with my name on it, LOL).

I found Dana Carpender's cookbooks, and Sharron Long's. Many of the recipes in them are induction-friendly! And after using them a bit, I figured out how to tweak many recipes I already have, or recipes that are on here but just a bit too high for induction. I really needed something I could take to ballet with me so I could be planning the week's menu while I was there, and even head next door to Trader Joe's and shop for it (that was a truly wonderful thing to have TJ's right there!).

Now I'm thinking about starting my own menu-mailer, since I have to do all the planning anyhow! I have to get a few things in place before I can do that, but the only other "low carb" one I know of isn't induction-friendly.

As for my stats: before going to the Olive Garden yesterday, I was down 13 lbs. in slightly over 3 weeks, which included TOM and getting stranded for a few days away from home (had to eat things with sugar added because there was simply no choice at all).

That's it in a large coconut shell!

Hello all I am new here and I am in day 3 of induction. I did have a minor set back though. First, my son turned three and I had a really small piece of cake. Then I am a mood eater and well I have been waiting to pick up my new car for 6 days and when it was time for me to pick it up again it was not ready! So, I was so upset I went right to Mickey D's and got a big and tasty meal! Well, instead of falling off the band wagon I just jumped right back on and did my workout (THE FIRM) and went back to my 20 carbs a day. This is hard but I will not be detoured and I will never give up! I will lose 50lbs and I will be able to fit into my strapless cat suite ( my major reward!) ... Thanks for your ears or should I say eyes, and so so sorry it's so long for a newbie!

That's kind of where I am, only with my kids. I have major problems sticking to it unless I have everything planned out, with enough snacks and leftovers and takeables to make it work.

I know this is a VERY late reply, but you asked about Equal/nutrasweet a couple of days before this. I get really bad migraines from it, and I've talked to many other people who have the same problem.

Given where you live, you might want to try Stevia or Lo Han Guo/ Luo Han Kuo instead. Natural alternatives. I can't handle Splenda/sucralose either--a different kind of migraine that lasts literally 3 weeks for me.

Hope this helps!

Tusc - have you actually tried that STEVIA yet?? I've heard it before, would have to order it online, but wonder how it tastes. Being allergic to the Nutrasweet stuff and can't stand taste of Splenda because it tastes so similar, i've never found anything else to try.

Ok, for all you guys/gals who's been around awhile... I saw a recipe, maybe even from Cleochatra, about these coffee cup muffins made with flax. Is this ok for induction??! I thought it'd give me a bit of fiber, the bread type texture I'm almost craving, and would be a change for breakfast from eggs! LOL if not, what are YOU having for breakfast on induction?!

Have a good night all! And thanks for the warm welcome!

Yes, I have a bunch of it! I have the SweetleafPlus, and several flavors of liquid. I also have Lo Han Guo but it's got fructose as the bulkener, hidden under the name of "levulose". So I'm not going to be using it.

I also have tried Nustevia, which I like, but I don't like that it has maltodextrin as the bulkener. So I'm sticking with SweetleafPlus and the liquids. I just found out Jarrow has Lo Han Guo with xylitol, so I'll be getting that. I already got erythritol from Netrition, too, but plan on using that more for special-occasion baking. As well as poly-d for those times.

HTH!

I do alot of baking too, lc and hc. Feel free to share some recipes if you got some! I'm always looking for something different to try!!!
