Hi Lorettahd
I personally gave up caffeine the first 2 weeks (I am on week 3 now) I have only added it back in sparingly this week a diet soda here and there. But I have to have coffee in the am so i am drinking decaf. It's not been a problem for me but I could never give up my splenda and cream in my coffee. I know both of those things are a stall for some people but if I use it sparingly I see no problems. I guess it is just what your body will tolerate. I may be here in 3 more weeks after a stall deciding I have to give those things up. But for now I am keeping it around.Hoping it isn't stalling me![]() |

Good Morning!
Just arriving here at the salt mines, errr, I mean office. I tracked all my food yesterday and lo and behold I went over on carbs. Here's my totals: Totals cals-1624 fat-124 carbs-27 protein-98 Its because I ate an onion and a red pepper - total 19 carbs for those two vegetables. OOPS. And I was still stuffed and bloated feeling this morning so fo COURSE I weighed myself - cuz I'm a genius! And i'm at the top end of the pounds I've been bouncing around over for the last six weeks. L-A-M-E! I swear I am NOT weighing again until Saturday or Sunday afternoon. When will I learn? Now I feel gross today and its just my own dumb fault. Hope everyone else is feeling more comfortable in their skin than I AM!

That's great! I think the reason why Atkins works so well is that you gain a new sense of empowerment and security in your eating habits. With high carb, low fat diets, I felt an increasing sense of helplessness and desperation. It seemed my cravings for sweets would only get worse and not better. Also, I had no idea how to stop them. Those diets seem to result in forcefully limiting yourself and your caloric intake.
However, Atkins seem to be the complete opposite. I finally feel like I have a way to control my cravings now. I have confidence that my cravings will diminish, not get worse. And best of all, if I do end up eating less, it will be a natural reduction due to eating foods of quality. Atkins seems to help us control the underlying reason for our weight gain. Haha, though maybe I should finish induction first. But no matter how hard it gets, don't give up! Everyone on this program can do this! Let's finally tackle and beat our demons once and for all. |

Hi everyone! It's so great to see the familiar faces and all the new ones. You can think of me as the court "joke" jester
. I think laughter is a wonderful way to burn calories. Now, if I'm not doing my job let me know .I decided to go outside and weed....woohoo....NOT. However, I did it anyway. Not my most favorite thing but it really was starting to look like a jungle. Well, maybe just a small jungle....lol. Got half of it done. Will either finish later on today or tomorrow. Getting ready to go to the store in a bit. Need to pick up some things so I can try out some of these great ideas. Made some low carb chocolate candies last night. Makes about ten at 1gr per piece. Very easy. Just melted some butter with cocoa, add splenda, vanilla and drop on wax paper then put in fridge. Not too bad. Took care of the sweet tooth craving. I think for lunch I'm just going to have one of Atkins shakes. We'll see. Five Steps to a Healthy Diet The Government has issued new guidelines for a healthy diet. They advise you to: 1. List your ten favourite foods. 2. List your five favourite drinks. 3. List all green vegetables that look like marsh grass, fur balls, or little trees. 4. List water. 5. Avoid 1 & 2; eat only 3; drink only 4. See you all when I get back from the store. Keep up the good work. ![]()

Hi Loretta! You bet I remember you!!!!
I'm so glad you're here with us! You'll love this Ladies, their awesome!!!For me, I don't think splenda has stalled me. I know when I first started DANDR, I read in his book you can drink caffeine free soda's used with splenda and use splenda it in your coffees. I was drinking decafe's at that time but went back to caffiene. THAT could my stall right there. So I'm seriously thinking about going back to decafe coffee. I just hope I can find them in chocolate flavors!! ![]() LowCarbRunner, I definately will check those sausages out!! Sound good!!! Hi Kisha, don't worry about that carb count, it sounds good! It's all water anyways, just keep drinking and you'll see that bloatness go away. Or put a little lemon in your water. Hang in there!!! ![]() Chucyc, it's funny how eating low fat doesn't do anything for us! Doesn't stop us from craving food, doesn't stop the hunger! I mean it's cruel and unusual punishment!!! I love to be able to eat good whole foods!! That's what we do on Atkins!! Yes, Mary, is our resident FunnyLady!! She comes up with the funniest things!!! We do need to laugh! You're right Mary, it's the best thing for our bodies!!! Mmm, chocolate!!! I'm just feeling the affects of TOM and I'm going crazy over here!! I may have to snag an Atkins bar from home!! ![]() Hi Fluffybear!! Now that's an idea!! An OJ!!! I am def going to try that!!

Well, for lunch I had the chocolate covered strawberries drink. Yummy!!! I can't wait to try some of the others. Definitely filling.
I think as soon as the sun goes to the other side of the house I'll go out and do some more weeding. I'm sure my husband will be totally surprised when he comes home since he knows how much I hate doing it. ![]() Right now I have my iTunes running and I'm listening to Josh Turner. OMG, that man could sing Mary Had A Little Lamb and it would make me melt..... ![]() I have a wide assortment of music except for rap and jazz. Pretty much everything else is on my iPod. I think for dinner tonight I'm going to have spaghetti squash and some talapia. It should make enough that I can have it tomorrow as well. Of course, I have no idea what husband is going to eat. Guess I'll have to fix him something else. Actually, he likes the squash so maybe I'll just make pork chops to go with it. We'll see!!! ***************** The Sermon I think this Mom will never forget.... this particular Sunday sermon..."Dear Lord," the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. "Without you, we are but dust..." He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four year old girl voice, "Mom, what is butt dust?" Out of the mouths of babes......... |

Oh, Diana, you're such a hoot. That recipe is one of the ones that Christina sent me. Don't worry, you'll get it
. Christina - No, you didn't send me the pork chop recipe. I'm looking forward to trying it though. Well, I got 85% of my weeding done....woohoo. I'll probably finish the rest after dinner. One of those things I drag my feet on. However, the benefits of working outside is that when I'm done I can dive into the pool and cool off. Works for me!! They only have 2 to 3 carbs per chop. I converted this from a recipe on Allrecipes.com LC Golden Smothered Pork Chops "This is so yummy, I never make enough. Seasoned pork chops are smothered in a golden mushroom sauce and baked with fresh mushroom slices and onion." INGREDIENTS: 6 pork chops ( I use pork loin shops) 1/4 teaspoon seasoned salt 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 1 onion, chopped (optional) 1/2 cup fresh sliced mushrooms 2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed golden chicken and mushroom soup DIRECTIONS: 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). 2. Take and brown chops in the skillet 3. Place them in a 9x13 inch baking dish. 3. In a separate small bowl, combine the onion, mushrooms and soup. Mix together till hot in frying pan and spoon over the chops. 4. Cover and bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 45 minutes, then uncover and bake for 15 more minutes. (Note: Time could be less or more depending on the thickness of the chops.) Pork chops are done when their internal temperature has reached 160 degrees F (70 degrees C). Ok..I need to go get supper going and go help plant our onions! HUGS Christina |

Good Afternoon Ladies,
This has been another crazy day for me. with the way DH works he eats when he wakes up. it could be 8 in the morning ,or 11 mid-morning. it can be flustering sometimes. Most of the times he only wants breakfast. then I'm done cooking for him for the day. HOWEVER, there are time he wants a full meal. I like that better. I feel he eats better that way. THEN there are days...well let me give you something to think about...here goes.. If you see in the newspaper wife kills husband over Chinese food..don't even bother to check for the name of the wife..it will be ME...grrr..we had chinese again today. YEP he is having PMS...Post Murder Syndrome...lol I did eat a little rice ,and alot of protein. hopefully not to much damage. Chucyc, you might need to up your protein. that helps me to stay full longer. also SF hot cocoa. any hot drink fills me up faster. I'm not sure if you can get pepperonis where you live. we can get the small ones like that are on pizzas . we can get them at WalMart in packs with the lunch meat. 17 is a serving. here is my recipe: 17 pepperoni's , microwave for one minute.. they get crispy like a potato chip..pure protein ,and delish. Christina , YES please post your protein shakes here.. TY. I sure hope you get to feeling better soon. Diana, I have a recipe for homemade hot cocoa mix..will you please run it through MC and get the NI for me esp. the carb count. Thank you. Homemade Hot Cocoa Mix 3 cups nonfat powder milk 1 cup splenda 1/2 cup dry cocoa powder 1 box SF instant vanilla pudding mix Mix all , store in air tight container. To serve mix 1/3 cup in very hot water. Makes 17 servings. Chat more later, Rachel

Hi and Welcome to our Forum Trish!!
![]() ![]() No..you are not suppose to drink the Atkins shakes during Induction. But...I did my own kind of Induction while I lost most of my weight. I did drink the shakes that I posted while I was losing for a treat. I will be able to post actual carbs counts next week for them. They really do fill you up and make you stay full for hours at a time. Induction is around 20 carbs a day but can be adjust accordingly. I stayed around 20 or so but everyone is different. Once again Welcome and feel free to ask any question you like. HUGS ![]() Christina |

Ok, as promised, here are a couple more recipes that I used years ago. Hope you like them.
Peppermint Squares 4 oz. cream cheese 1/2 tsp vanilla 1/4 cup butter 2 pkgs. splenda 1/2 tspn peppermint extract Pam spray Mix ingredients thoroughly with fork. Place in 8" pan sprayed with Pam. Cut in 2" squares. Keep in freezer. They are about .5 grams carbs per serving. Summer Squash Casserole 1 pound yellow squash peeled and cut into 1 inch pieces 1/4 cup mayonnaise 1 eg beaten 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese 1 tbsp butter 1/2 cup chopped onion Steam squash until barely tender. Mix mayo, egg, 1/2 the cheese, 2 tbs butter and onion in a microwaveable bowl. Add squash gently to the mixture and microwave for about 5-6 mins. Stir then sprinkle remaining cheese over top and microwave another 3-5 mins. Let stand about five mins. Enjoy Only women would appreciate this.... This has to be read, laughed at and passed on. There is not a woman alive today who won't crack up over this! I was due for an appointment with the gynecologist later in the week. Early one morning, I received a call from the doctor's office to tell me that I had been rescheduled for that morning at 9:30 am. I had only just packed everyone off to work and school, and it was already around 8:45 am. The trip to his office took about 35 minutes, so I didn't have any time to spare. As most women do, I like to take a little extra effort over hygiene when making such visits, but this time I wasn't going to be able to make the full effort. So, I rushed upstairs, threw off my pajamas, wet the washcloth that was sitting next to the sink, and gave myself a quick wash in that area to make sure I was at least presentable. I threw the washcloth in the clothes basket, donned some clothes, hopped in the car and raced to my appointment. I was in the waiting room for only a few minutes when I was called in. Knowing the procedure, as I'm sure you do, I hopped up on the table, looked over at the other side of the room and pretended that I was in Paris or some other place a million miles away. I was a little surprised when the doctor said, 'My, we have made an extra effort this morning, haven't we?' I didn't respond. After the appointment, I heaved a sigh of relief and went home. The rest of the day was normal .. Some shopping, cleaning, cooking. After school when my 6 year old daughter was playing, she called out from the bathroom, 'Mommy, where's my washcloth?' I told her to get another one from the cupboard. She replied, 'No, I need the one that was here by the sink, it had all my glitter and sparkles saved inside it.' Never going back to that doctor again...........never See you all later. If not, I'll see you tomorrow. Have a fantastic evening. Mary: ![]() |
