K! The more the merrier. That's the nice thing about this forum. Everyone has one problem or another with the induction. For me, it's being stuck at the same weight now for the past week. However, I just keep hanging in there and trying different things.

This is a wonderful group of people so please ask any questions you might have. Someone is bound to have the answer

How was everyone's weekend? Our weekend was really relaxed for a change. I probably have the only husband in the world who isn't glued to the tv watching sports . What a concept!! Still waiting to find out if we'll be heading back overseas. I'm looking forward to it. I think I've lived outside of the US more than in it. I'm sure my children write my addresses in pencil .

I think I'm going to try some tequila lime chicken wings for dinner tonight. Haven't decided what to have with them yet but I'm sure it will be good no matter what I have.

Well, have to go take care of a couple of things. I'll check back in later. Have a blessed day.

ps: Christina, don't forget the egg cream recipes. If anyone else has a good recipe for the egg creams, let me know.....

Hi Mary!
You have a husband that doesn't watch sports!!! Where did you find that rare speciman! I think that's pretty awesome! Mine will turn it on to watch, then falls asleep or does something else! I end up changing the channel.

So whereabouts have you lived at overseas? Sounds fasinating!! I would love to hear about your adventures! Do tell!!

Hi Luz! Glad you had a great weekend and that workouts are getting better for you. I know the first week is always the roughest, but perserverance makes us stronger!!!
Good Job!!!

Well, I grew up in a military family. My dad was in the air force and met my mum in England when he was flying during WWII. They were married almost 60 yrs when he passed away. Anyway, I was born in Michigan and then we moved to Maryland when I was a baby. When I was 4 we moved to England for four years. I had a lovely British accent until I was around 11 and that is because we moved from England to Albany, Georgia....lol. I'll try to make this shorter. From Georgia to Turkey (2 yrs) to Paris (2 yrs) to Waco, Texas (3 yrs) to Virginia (Dad's last posting) and then from there I went to Canada, Egypt, Indiana and then to Florida. A lot in between but that's about the gyst of it.....lol.

My husband is a former Marine Corp pilot. Did three tours in Vietnam. I have two sons and four grandchildren (3 girls, 1 boy).

So, now that's out of the way. How is everyone doing? I'm still trying to figure out what to have with my chicken wings tonight. I'm actually getting hungry just thinking about them....yummy. I think I'll just have plain old jello with some whipped cream for dessert. Pretty light and low low in carb. Maybe I'll get lucky and finally move the scale tomorrow. One can only hope.

"Focus on how you will become successful today and forget about the
setbacks from yesterday."

See ya later!

Happy Afternoon!

I only have a minute, as I get ready to run to job #2, but, I wanted to pass along a trick that has helped me today and lots in the past. During induction, when I am really craving something, or just super tired...I take about 1/4 cup heavy cream and whip it half way...then add 1/2 teaspoon SF pudding...then whip the cream the rest of the way. I eat half of the yummy treat, and refridgerate the other half for the next craving. Honestly, this recipe only makes about 4 T of whipped cream, but 2 T is enough to kill the craving and add in some fat, which is SUPER IMPORTANT for induction. It is what keeps you full and satisfied.

My helpful tip of the day...I am off to teach dance now, catch up with you late or in the AM.

Hugs

Wow look at all the new people! welcome to all of you. I really enjoy reading all the posts about your lives. Mine is so boring right now. But that's ok when there was excitement in my life it was all bad stuff. So I can handle boring for awhile. Wow, Mary you have lived all over. Not me, I 've only moved twice once from my parents house and once from our starter home. I didn't like moving it was a ton of work! I told my husband the only way we are moving again is if we hire movers!

Rachel that is wonderful you have been married so long...good for you I am glad you found your soul mate. I did too but we've only been married 18 years.

Hey Diana keep hanging in there that scale is going to drop soon!! I just know it!!!

Jaimie thanks for the tip we all need just a little something sweet every once in awhile.

Thank you Diana. I'm going to the grocery store tomorrow and pick up some heavy cream. I can't wait to try it. Well, I had my Tequila Lime chicken wings and brussel sprouts for dinner. The wings were great. I've got a couple of recipes that I want to try out. If they're any good I'll pass them along.
I'm listening to my itunes while I'm writing this. Right now I'm listening to Mercy Me singing "I Can Only Imagine". Wonderful song. One of my favorites.
Too bad we can't have music on the forum.....lol.
Well, I've decided I'm not going to look at the nasty scale until Friday. Maybe I'll be surprised. One can only hope. TTFN

Terrific Tuesday Friends!

So much caring and encouragement! So nice to experience this together!

I am down 2 pounds overnight...little mini-whoosh When I get back to re-started a few weeks ago I was at 179...then I lost down to 175, then for some reason (medication I think) I ballooned up to 181 I am back down to 177 as of this morning, so I am optimistic that I am really on the losing side now

One word of advice...when I started to gain for no reason, I really panicked and lowered my carbs and calories by doing that Meat and Eggs Experiment...NOTHING, not one ounce was lost. When I went back to Atkins induction and ate when hungry...4 pounds gone in 4 days.

Atkins Induction Works...we just need to trust! Sounds like Faith and Trust are the key to Everything, Praise God!

Can't wait to hear from you all today!

Good morning ladies! Well, first let me say that I don't have any special recipe for the tequila lime chicken wings. They are made by Tyson and I bought them at Sam's club (like a Cosco or B.J.'s). As far as the brussel sprouts go there's nothing special. I bought one of those "steam in the bag" brussel sprouts and when they were done I added some butter, salt & pepper. However, there is a recipe I want to try. Not sure how many carbs are in it.

1 lb. fresh brussel sprouts
4-6 tbsp butter
1/2 onion, chopped
Salt & pepper
1 tspn lemon juice
1/4 cup toasted slivered almonds

Boil in water or steam brussel sprouts for 3-4 minutes until just tender. Split one open to see if it has cooked to the middle. Strain and place in a bowl of ice water to keep the color bright green. Cut in halves.
Saute onions in 2-3 tbsp of butter in a saute pan until the onions are translucent. Add the brussel sprout halves and 2-3 tbs more of butter and cook on medium high heat for several more minutes until the sprouts have reached your desired level of doneness. Add salt and pepper to taste while the sprouts are cooking. Do not overcook. Makes the spouts bitter.
Remove from heat, toss in half of the toasted slivered almonds and the lemon juice. Add salt and pepper if needed. Put in serving dish and garnish with the rest of the toasted almonds. Voila!

Now, for all of you who are missing noodles (pasta), I ran across an interesting item this morning. You might want to check it out. You can find it here:

Shirataki MiracleNoodle Shop!

Sounded very interesting.

Now, here's a quick little treat for those of you who are tired of the same old pork rinds. Take one bag of plain pork rinds, 10 pks of splenda, half stick of butter, 1 tbs of cinnamon. Drizzle melted butter over the rinds, put the splenda and cinnamon in a bag and shake. Drop the buttered rinds in the bag and shake until they're coated. Quick, easy and tasty....enjoy!

Sorry for taking up so much space this morning. Just thought I'd get these little tidbits to you....

See you later.

Mary

Good morning all!
Boy..now how could I miss SO many post since I just left to go out of town yesterday morning!!

Ok..I am going thru threads now..
Livi... the Mayo Cake recipe here is the thread for it...this thread is LONG but you can get some great ideas for it..I am going to add 3 TBS of Sour Cream to it next time for a change. I have make this about once a month and can eat on it for 2 weeks. Some people like it..Some people dont..I find that if I cook the cake 10 min less just make sure it is done..and take and wrap it up right after you take and put in on your dish..its stay really moist that way..ok..Here is the link..Chocolate Mayonnaise Pound Cake

That links you to my changes in it. Look at the other too.

Ok..Dixie..my Anniversary is next Monday but we went out yesterday for supper since we had to take our son back for a checkup in Roanoke. I did really good yesterday and I will post about that later. Ended up just buying our son some used clothes at Once Upon A Child..we can get really good stuff there for about 1/2 off retail
! We dont buy ourselves anything anyway now we got Brandon. My Dh is suppose to take me out again next Monday..we will see.

Lady: I just send you a e-mail. If you still want my Protein Shakes let me know..K?

Diana...My weight has gone crazy the past 3 days also G/F!! In the past days I went up those 3 lbs I lost and then after yesterday I am back down to 139.9! My day really didn't go good yesterday. Mike was in a A...mood!! He was downing me on my LC food eating again. Why do people do that for? You know I fixed that Mayonnaise cake and I had had NOTHING sweet for 2 weeks!! When I got up yesterday I was upset because my weight was back up and he said it was because of me eating LC sweets all the time!! That really set me off..I told him what I thought about everything yesterday. He should have not messed with me getting ready to go thru my PMS again!! I will go into more details later but we were really upset with each other till last night and he didn't even say he was sorry about it! I think he has PMS instead of me!! LOL

Here was my menu for yesterday:
Weight 142.5
B-3 Sausage Cake
L-1 quarter powder Hamburger on Rev Roll from Hardees yesterday
S-2 Grilled Tuna Steaks..never tried that before and I LOVED IT! with a BIG Tossed Salad with Cheese, Bacon Bits, Eggs and just a tad of Itialan dressing on it.

Today Menu
Weight 139.5
B- 1 Sausage Pattie..just not hungry
L-Hamburger on Rev Roll
S-Leftover Steak and Salad with maybe some Leftover cauliflower/broccoli Casserole too.

Oh..and we was on 45 here in VA yesterday and would you believe 25 this morning!! Guess it got my apple tree again. It suppose to be 28 tonight and then start warming up later this week. Boy..I am really hurting today..must be this cold weather.

I will catch up more later everyone!!
Have a great day all and HUGS
Christina

Hi! I finally started induction after so many failed attempts. For me, the first day is the hardest cause I keep talking myself into starting the next day. Anyways, I usually try to consume around 12-15g of carbs so that I can leave 5 carbs for spices and stuff like that since I rely heavily on those to reduce my cravings for sweets.

Has anyone tried green mint tea? I'm trying to use as little (or none) AS as possible since I'm in Beijing right now and the only AS I could find was Equal. And I'm not a big fan of AS anyways, but I recognize that it's a necessity right now! Especially since I can't eat fruits.

Anyways, I was trying to think of something that could really calm me down and at first I tried cinnamon since I heard that it helps regulate blood sugar. But for some reason, it didn't really work for me and might have had the opposite effect. So I tried green mint tea. I like drinking tea, but just for the health benefits (for example, rose hip tea can provide you with tons of Vit C to rejuvenate your skin and keep them healthy and beautiful). The taste isn't strong enough to kick my chocolate cake urges or anything like that.

But just add some mint to your green tea and it tastes fabulous! I really believe that using AS is like kicking your dirty laundry under the bed. Especially during the induction phase. The mint in the green tea gives it this calm but penetrating flavor that you can enjoy.

Anyways, tell me if this works for anyone. And also, what are some of the things that satisfies your cravings? I'm really looking forward to trying some new things. It seems to exciting! Along with the prospect of meeting so many new people.

Anyways, good luck losing!

My tips are : Joseph's Lavish Bread. It is low carb very hudge serving. that was one of the things that I missed most about this is bread. I can't find LC bread and this is so much better than bread ,and bigger. The NI is : 50 calories/ fat 2 g/ carb 4..I am haveing egg salad for lunch on this.

For breakfast I toasted a piece of lavish bread and spread SF jelly on it.. I toast it on 200 degrees for about 5/7 minutes.. de-lish. its great to use as a base for pizza ,or us it like a wrap.
I'm trying something new with it this afternoon.

I'm going to take a serving size ,cut it into two piece's, toast it. spread butter on it while it is hot. I just take the stick of butter and run over it. with one I am going to sprinkle powder cheese. The other I am going to sprinkle splenda ,and cinnamon. that I have already mix ,and put in a shaker.
I'm excited at the thought of crispy homemade crakers.

I'll let you know how this works.

Another tip ,and great find is the steamer bags put out by baggies. there is 10 to a box. I use the medium size.

I use to buy the steamer bags of veggies. there is less veggies, cost more money, and you can not reuse the bags..

With the steamers by baggie you can wash ,and reuse them many times..what a great find for me..

Lady, honey you not long winded at all. lol.
I have a question for you..how many wings do you eat. do you go by the serving size on the back ,or do you eat till full.

If anyone has any hints ,or tips that is making this jouney easy ,or helpful PLEASE share.

Does anyone use the chat room..I've looked in there no one is ever there. I've checked at different times. As many people use this site I would have thought that I'd see some one.

Chat more later,
Mouth from th South....Rachel
