Thanks for that recipe, Christina! I hope to be able to make some tomorrow so I can have a piece for breakfast Monday morning. I do get tired of eggs and bacon sometimes. CSN was great as always! We had lawn tickets so couldn't see them that well but I don't go to see them - sang some great 3 part harmony with my girlfriends! Drank water and not beer or wine. I'll let you know ahead of time when they come back! You can come visit the beach and see the concert cos you are not that far away! I used to go to the Bluegrass Festival in Galax - what wild weekends they were! Hey Karen in NNews! We should really meet sometime! We are just too geographically close to not do that! Especially if you come to the Naval Hospital. Let me know next time you and your son are coming over. Hi Diana, Baby, Bella, Wen, Karen and everyone else! Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. And, Diana, I tried 2 oz of cream cheese, .25 tsp of Davinici Coffee Liqueur, 1 little splash of cream and 1 little dash of powdered unsweetened chocolate - stirred it up cold and ate it up! Yum!

No..sorry..you can get them from netrition...click on the links and they will take you to where you can order them for only 4.95 shipping...You can get your own Almonds to make Almond Flour and grind them up...you can get Unsweetened Coconut from your local health food store if you have one close...you can find Splenda Quick Packs at Big Lots since they have quit making them...or you can use Liquid Stevia or Liquid Splenda to equal a cup of sweetness of the Quick packs..

Good morning!!!!!
Getting ready to fix some eggs and bacon! Hope everyone is still asleep! LOL! I am writing down that Zucchini Bread recipe and wondering if anyone knows a good substitute for Wheat protein Isolate. I refuse to put wheat in my body ever again. When I got Graves Disease back in 2001, I also developed a wheat/gluten intolerance which was the basis of most of my skin problems and then some. All you gals have a wonderful Sunday! |

Good morning Cindy...Here is another recipe I got off another LC blog..Big D Low Carb Blog....I about made this one but didn't..I would add about a 1/2 cup of unsweetened coconut to it..here is the recipe...
1 cup coconut flour 1 cup flax meal 1 cup vanilla whey protein ( I use Jay Robbs) Small amount of sugar free vanilla soy milk ( use Hood countdown Milk or Heavy/cream water here...about a couple of TBS should do because you want this batter still thick...) 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon baking powder 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon 1 ½ teaspoons of nutmeg 3 eggs 1/2 cup coconut oil 2 1/4 cups sugar substitute (I use a combination of brown sugar Maltittol, Xylitol, Sweetzfree) (What I would do here is use the 1 cup of erythritoll..1 splenda quick pack and a couple of drops of liquid splenda or stevia to make the 2 1/4 cups..) 3 teaspoons vanilla extract 2 cups grated zucchini 1 cup chopped walnuts DIRECTIONS 1. Grease and flour two 8 x 4 inch pans. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. 2. Add milk to coconut flour, just enough to make it wet and crumbly and set aside. 3. Mix flax meal, whey protein, salt, baking powder, soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg together in a bowl. 4. Beat eggs, oil, vanilla, and sugars together in a large bowl. Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, and beat well. Stir in coconut flour, zucchini, and nuts until well combined. Pour batter into prepared pans. 5. Bake for 40 to 60 minutes, or until tester inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in pan on rack for 20 minutes. Remove bread from pan, and completely cool. Hope with your stomach problems you can use Whey Protein...I dont know if it has wheat or not in it.. Hope this works for you... HUGS

Good morning everybody.
Well I'm not going to church this morning because Dh stayed up late and won't make it. This makes me angry, I look forward to going to church. Oh well, I've finally went down to my starting weight after going to the bathroom. I've actually stayed on plan this weekend, I'm so proud. On the other hand my DH went down four more pounds after a 2 week stall and eats at 30+ carbs a day. He gets to eat lc ice cream and brownies. As long as its lc he still loses. I'm so jealous. I struggle and he eats what he wants as long as its lc and is steady losing. Well breakfast for today is 2 eggs w/cream cheese(1 ounce), sausage patty and coffee w/cream. Okay I go and take my test tommorrow, please pray for me that I pass. Its very important that I get back in school. Started my Effexor 2 days ago really can't tell the outcome until about 7 days. I know it does make me drowsy so I take it at night before bed. If anybody else has experience with this drug please tell me how it worked out for you. Well gotta run, hope everyone has a blessed Sunday and keep staying on plan. I'll probably be back later.Love Baby ![]() |

Good morning everyone. I may have been lurking but I have been here. Great to see everyone doing so well.
I have good news/bad news today. My weight is up AGAIN. Back to 203 and about to fall down and weep. The good news is my temperature is ALSO up to 97.4°!!! And that's this MORNING'S reading. So the CO and the WTS herbal meds are working. I'm back tracking my food intake just to make sure I'm getting enough calories. I'm doing the CO in warm herbal tea 20 minutes before each meal (or as close to that as I can get). Up to 2TBS in the morning but dropping back to 4 tsp before lunch and dinner. It absolutely kills my appetite. yesterday I managed to get to about 1800 calories but NO MAS! Just was not hungry. Barely hungry for dinner but ate because I knew I needed to. have added a bit of fruit back in. Just couldn't take it anymore. And definitely a good salad for lunch so guess I'm no longer in induction but ya'll don't mind if I hang out with you, do you? Just about up to the menus in Mary Enig's book and still plowing through Campos's tome on America Anorexia. I think I'm going to post on my personal blog about my own struggles with my eating disorder because I finally acknowledged about 10 years ago that I HAVE an eating disorder. That was a big step and Campos has helped me see the rest of the picture. Well, gotta go fire up the stove. Time for breakfast. Have a great one everybody! |

Good morning,
Thanks so much Chris, it does feel great ![]() Baby, my first husband once (before we met) had gained weight while in the military when he toured Europe during the Viet Nam war as a member of the Air Force Band- he is a professional sax man- and he decided to lose weight so he did lowcarb and lost 30 lbs in 3 weeks! Can you imagine? He is 5 ft 8 and usually weighs in at 150, so he is a slight person anyway. It is so much harder for us girls! I am now on the course for losing the rest of my below goal weight precruise. My plan is to lose 8 more lbs in 4 weeks, which I am sure I can do if not earlier so long as I stay on plan. I didn't lose as quickly this time as when I weighed more, but that's because I need fewer calories per day to maintain and I really can't lower my calories any more than I have. So patience is the key! Have a good Sunday. Bella

Morning Everyone.
Well my morning started off with us going out for breakfast at 7 in the morning, then we went for a walk along the beach. Which was really nice, hardly anyone around. i can not remember the last time we went to the beach. Even though it is only 10 mins down the road. Now we are chilling, and swimming in the pool. Think we will be having a bbq later, so going to be really good on the diet today. Hope everyone is having a good Sunday. Karen |

Good Sunday to all!
what a day yesterday was, we were out the door at about 8:30am headed MIL, got there about 10:30am and didn't get home until almost 12:30am Saturday night. *WHEW!!!* we did get her porch up roofed and boy do I hurt!! I nailed by hand a lot of the hangers for the studs - today was shopping /grocery day and some house work. we just ate early dinner so DD can go to work and eat w/us before she had to go. i did grind up abunch of almonds while dinner was cooking and mixed in the last of my flax w/it. so i have it in freezer now for quick fixes. like 1 min. muffins and such. i also have some stuff to make LC cheesecake (i think!) gotta check the recipies!! hahaha sounds like everyone been busy too. no boating this weekend for us, no time! image that! but maybe this week. however i think i will get DH to make us margaritas anyways! haha i need to try to do some extra cooking for the week for LC stuff .. so i think i am going to try to pull some recipies. i did get spaghetti squash today for me.. can't say i've ever had it in my life.. so any suggestions on the BEST dish for it, let me know! i can't see eating spaghetti sauce on it in place of spaghetti, but you tell me what the best is!! dinner tonight was cube steaks... i melted butter and did a quick brown on both sides w/it. seasoned them w/onion powder, garlic, salt, pepper and made homemade gravy w/beef broth, same seasonings, beef bullion and xantham gum to thicken. let simmer about 1/2 hr - was DELICIOUS!!! they had mashed potatoes w/it and i just had salad. but was soooo good and tender! some recommended sprinkling the xantham gum lightly over top and whisking to thicken easier. so i got an extra salt shaker (50cents at walmart) and stick some if it in there. easy to sprinkle that way and works great! ok, i'm off to try to do some recipies so i stay on plan this week! i am up 2lbs since friday but i figured i would be. have a good rest of your sunday all!! ![]() ![]()

I have to say Sargento's Bistro Blends Cheddar + Real Bacon is the bomb for making cheese crackers.
I made myself portion out a 1/4 cup then put everything away so I wouldn't go back and make more. |

Hi yall!
Sunday is slowly fading away here in the east! Getting mentally ready for work tomorrow. My stepson brought me some fresh shark filets yesterday. I soaked them overnight in salt/lemon water. I grilled them over the mesquite charcoal basting with butter and old bay. They were delicious! It doesn't taste much like fish and a lot of people like that but I do like fishy tasting fish! Got a piece big enough for lunch at work tomorrow. It will probably taste better then anyway. And I will have my usual cup of salad with homemade Hidden Valley Ranch dressing. Just had Black Cherry SF Jello with some SF Cool Whip for dessert. Don't eat it too often because the cool whip causes me to stall. I think I like that 2nd zucchini recipe better, Christina. But I do have some ingredients to get before I can make it. I can't wait!!! Talk to you all later! Have a great evening! |

Hi Ladies!
Jen you'll love the squash! I just made mine in the microwave, it was pretty easy. I just added some butter in the inside of it, after I cleaned and scooped the seeds out. I added salt and pepper and just a drizzle of olive oil too. Then I nuked it for about 5 min for each one. I know some of those squashes have directions on a small sticker that is on it. If you do something different, let me know. WenB, that cheeese sounds good! I don't think I've seen that type, I'll have to look for them. I have been eating cheese lately too! I love the Kraft Sharp cheddar cheese. I keep slicing a piece, when I make dinner. Karen your day sounds great!! 10 min from the beach!!!! How wonderful is that!! I had so much fun swimming in my sister's pool yesterday. It was funny, I kept bugging my bil to do his famous dive. He wouldn't say anything about it, then later on, my other sister (the wife) and I had our feet in the pool, all of the sudden, my bil jumped in the pool and did this huge splash! Got me all wet, and this was after I changed into dry clothes!!! We just laughed!! He did do what I asked him!! ![]() Baby, you bet I'll keep you in my prayers!! I believe you will do great on your test!!! Be postive!!! You can do it!! My DH doesn't even do low carb, but I bet he would lose weight quick too!! You ever see that commercial of the husband and wife where they are both heavy and the wife say's that her husband stopped drinking soda and lost so much weight, and she started drinking water and gained weight. It's a cartoon commerial for some weight loss drink. Anyway, it's funny because it's so true!!! Darleen, good luck with everything! I hope that everything you're reading and learning will help you in your weight loss. You and I are pretty close in weight. Wouldn't it be great to get under 200!! We will soon!!! Cindy what a fun concert! I have never seen CSN, but I do like there older music. Good for you on drinking the water!! I had no idea that wheat could do so much harm to certain people! It's amazing!! Christina, poor DH sick again! I hope he gets to feeling better soon! I made that blueberry muffin cake, but for some reason, it didn't turn out that great. It didn't taste all the good and I don't know why! I don't know about lc desserts sometime. The only thing I like really, is the chocolate truffle torte and maybe a couple of other things. I may just do the blueberry in muffins next time. I know that has to be good! I still have a carton of them, I wonder what I should do with them?? Bella you are doing great!! 8lbs is fantastic!! Chris, hope you have a great Sunday evening!! Karen where are you!! I hope everything is alright! Rae, I hope you're doing well too!!! I hope everyone has a great evening!!! Talk to you tomorrow!! Love Ya's!!

Hello Everyone.....after finding myself losing really well, I stopped for a one week break and ended up gaining 4lbs this week.....I am truly disappointed with myself because I am a very very very slow loser and it may take me another 2 -3 weeks to try to lose what I've gained.....I'm really desperate for answers that will help me get back on track, so any suggestions are truly appreciated.....I wish you all much success in reaching your goals.
Question 1: What is the most that you've lost in one week? Question 2: What was your meal plan that helped you lose this weight? Question 3: Did you exercise during this period?

Hi Sails92! Welcome!!!
Quote:
That's what I did, and I'm trying to eat the same way now. I do think that salads and veggies are improtant, but if they stall some people. It's all about adding things in slowly, a week at a time, to see if it causes stalls or not. ![]() I'm sure the other Ladies will have some tips as well!!! Much success to you too!!! Ahh Darlene, I know it's hard! I have to remember that if I put something in my mouth that is going to cause me to gain, not to eat it!! But sometimes I'm weak and I do it anyway. I'm just sticking to Atkins, and eating right. ![]() Last edited by Determinedtolose; 08-03-2008 at 07:36 PM.. |

Argh...I'm back up over 240 again. I am bouncing there. I think the lack of food yesterday - I only managed about 900 cals cos I didn't feel good, and too much salt lead to a water gain.
~mutters and kicks stuff~ My weight for today at one week into the challenge is 240.2 |

Morning all
Baby..praying you do well on your test Welcome Sails92!![]() As for me...I have not gotten to go to thearpy for over a week because of both Brandon and Mike being sick...today I am paying for it..my hips and lower back are KILLING me again...I just dont know if this thearpy is going to work or not... Mike is saying that he dont want to pay hundreds of dollar on thearpy if its not going to work...of course he is not giving me a chance with it either..I have only got to go about 8 sessions of it and they have been scattered..I just dont know what to do..OK...also TOM gone..water weight still here!! Darn PCOS ![]() So I updated my AVI..maybe I should just make this my matience weight and quit worrying about the other 10 pounds..I had been taking the CO like Darleen said too for my weight size....I am begging to wonder if that is stalling me...I was losing until I started taking it and not eating my LC foods to make my BMR Up..![]() I will be here on and off all day. Everyone have a great one.. HUGS! |

god morning everyone!
Just a reminder, re: exercise. You do it to get fit, not to lose weight. I am a walking textbook on how NOT to lose with exercise. For 2 years I worked out at home for an hour a day, 6 days a week. I used The Firm videos which incorporate light hand held weights with low impact aerobics. Hubby saw a difference in my SHAPE but the scale DID NOT BUDGE. I was very very fit but also very very fat. So exercise to stay fit but don't expect it to get rid of the excess weight. On a positive note, I'm down 1.6 pounds this morning. How? I downed 6 TBS! of coconut oil yesterday. Yes, it was difficult. I bloated again like crazy esp at the end of the day. OTOH my appetite was GONE. Of course I had a big breakfast ... 2 TBS CO in warm herbal tea (figured out that if the drink is HOT the oil is HOTTER) 1 Schwan's sausage patty cooked in a tsp of CO 2 eggs scrambled with a tsp of cream in half the leftover fat from the sausage 1 slice 7 grain sprouted bread with tsp or so of butter and pollaner all fruit jam 1/2 cup kefir I was STUFFED lunch was much later and 2TBS co in warm herbal tea handful of pecans (need to do the crispy nuts after I read WHY) swiss cheese half a dozen fresh cherries dinner ... much MUCH later 2 TBS co in warm herbal tea small green salad made with romaine, baby cucumber, marinated artichoke hearts, small handful of grape tomatoes 1/4 cup or so of flaked dry coconut good TBS of cocoa nibs 1/2 can of drained tuna ranch dressing (the good kind with NO msg) I think I finally realized that I react to sugar alcohols like it's just sugar. I'm pretty sure the weight came on because I was eating low carb ice cream. Not a lot ... just a scoop in the evenings, about 1/2 a cup. oh well. Anyway. Am debating about going to the gym. I only have so much energy and if I spend it all on the elliptical I may not have enough oomph to get through the day. We'll see. Hope you all have a spectacular day! |

Christine, coconut oil doesn't cause stalls! It actually promotes weight loss because (say it with me everyone)...
it takes MORE calories for the body to use it than it contains! So it revs your metabolism helping you to lose weight. Maybe it's the bark? I think that needs to be stopped. Just take a TBS of the oil in a cup of warm tea 20 minutes before each meal. You'll keep your appetite in check (in a GOOD way) and you'll feel SO MUCH BETTER! Really! |

Good morning, good morning.
Today has already been a pia. I didn't have time to stop and make breakfast and the rtd protein shake I picked up is UBER sweet - blecht! S - babybel - maybe - if I can make myself eat L - Wendy's Single with bacon & cheese & a salad S - babybel D - No clue; I have to go shopping since my first choice has too many blankety blank carb/serving. There should be NO CARBS in pork chops </rant> S - protein shake With luck, I'll get back to 1500 cals today. I know its not necessary to watch it, but I need to so I eat enough.

Darleen, I tossed the bark I'd made with protein powder since the one I choose had SAs in it. And made up some with 100% cacao Giardelli & splenda + a little vanilla. It's in the freezer at home.
I'll give it one more shot. I don't know if I can eat the stuff straight. |

Ah Christine, hugs back at ya! I know that it's tough trying to figure all this out. Just ASK me, LOL. But I have seen such positive results (excluding the detox reactions of course) from taking CO that I'm becoming quite the crusader! My skin even looks better!
