i have had induction flu all wekkend..in bed really with the achiest joints and muscles. THis time I am going directly by the atkins 72 book...No caffiene...right by the book..Day 2..I am rewarded with a .5 gain!
WTH?
we did eat crab legs and that totally swells me up with the iodine..BUT....i want/need the diuretic properties of this diet. I am fighting taking a diuretic.
stating weigh 136.
I was 126 two years ago(from my first Atkins experience in 98)
I quit smoking 05 and restarted in 06....
this time I quit in November and I have gained 5 pounds.I was 131.
I would like to be 125 by 4/18-My 40th b-day.

Ahh so that's what the achiness is from! I'm also quite cranky. Good to know what the source is.

Hi all..
I'd love to join in with you on induction tommorow. I've been a real backslider since the holidays..followed by some medical stuff, steroid scripts. Time to get back on the wagon and get this excess off.
A few things I've never given up during induction in the past are coffee and splenda. I've used them without count, liberally most days. Hopefully if I do everything else by the book, I'll still lose at a good pace. I just cannot give up my java at this time, ain't gonna happen, kwim?
I am on steroids at the moment for a sudden hearing loss issue, and I cannot go off of them for another 2 weeks minimum. How much impact do you think this will have on the weight loss?

It is all very normal. The things you are feeling and the weight gain.
.5 is nothing. Your weight can and will fluctuate 2-5 pound a day from morning to night.
Also, your body is going to go through withdrawels from sugar and caffeine. Headaches, nausea, body aches and pains are all what we call the "induction flu". Some get it some dont. Some say it lasts for days and otheres say it lasts for a shorter amount of time.
Remember that splenda does have carbs. 1 packet is 1 carb I think.
Stick it out and all shall pass. Drink water and eat your vegies.
I am starting over tomorrow the 3rd.

I'm re-inducting too..Also, I need advice on low carThbing on vacation! please help.

I started induction on 2/18...after a few days I was down about 4 lbs..and very psyched...then, I don't know why, weight started creeping up...I think I was eating too many hidden carbs...Also, I did not eliminate caffeine...(Last time I did Atkins, I didn't eliminate caffeine at all and had no problem, so I didn't expect this)..Anyway, I'm re0inducted tomorrow...this time...caffeine free coffee for me...Also, I made my first batch of oopsies today and ate 3 with WF blueberry syrup...delicious...Oopsies will help my sweet tooth a lot!!!1
Ok...next thing is we're going to Puerto Rico in April and I am worried about blowing it..I really need this family vacation and don't want to obsess, but don't want to go off plan...What should I pack with me?? any suggestions welcome...thanks, Beth

The headache and aches and pains are signs and symptoms of withdrawels. I did many things on Atkins 5 years ago that just are not working for me this time. Our bodies definatly change alot over a short period of time. I think everyone has to "tweak" thier plan which ever way works best for them. Good luck.

Good morning everyone! So today is the day. I am ready to stick it out. i know I am going to have a really hard time in the evenings. That has been my downfall lately, but I am going to fight it. I know I am going to be a crab for a while, hopefully not to long. Here is my food plan for today:

Breakfast: egg & Bacon (typical atkins meal)

Lunch: possibly a salad or Broccoli and butter and cheese

Dinner: Chicken and a vegie.

Snacks: sugar free jello, pork rinds, cheese and salami...who knows?????

Water intake: at least 64 oz.

Supplements:
multi, calcium, flax, fish oil, red yeast rice, biotin. I think thats all of them, there may be 1 more.

hi Jamie! Thansk for starting this thread!
i am actually doing induction for the first time ever 100%.
No caffiene etc.
I am having surgery on Friday but Thursday i do get to drink broth and have diet sprite
Today-I had 2 steak-ums for breakfast.
Lunch- I am having about a 6-7 oz steak with mayo.a pickle.
snack is a couple of cheese slices and then a pickle
in the 72 verios you are allowed a pickle instead of salad the first week.
Then next week I go up the carb ladder in increments of 5...more salad...more cream etc.
then the following 5 more.
etc.

Ilookhappy..it always happens to me too with crab..always up a few lbs...
i might soak them nxt time i get them..I hear it helps with the salt.
Some say it is the iodine
No worries.
It will be gone in no time and then some.
