I'm scared.. I don't want to fail again
Hi it's me and it's almost new years...i told myself that upon this new year i would restart my induction after having gone off the woe since august. Before i never wanted sweets ..my downfall was always breads/pastas...now it seems its all the above...
I told my son I was doing this and he really wants me to do it...I really want it.....I guess this is my pre rant...its just i'm scared to fail again....just wondering how i will feel tomorrow without all this sweets and carbs... I drink alot of tea right now so until i can get green tea i'm gonna stay with my black tea even though it is caffeinated..hope that will be okay... Thanks for allowing me time to just text... Janie

The way I look at it, whatever keeps me away from sugar and flour is good for me. If that mean drinking caffiene...or having a serving of sugar free jello, I'm going to allow myself that. Just to get over the humps. You can do this. Remember to focus on the good food you are allowed, not on the foods you aren't allowed. I bought a head of cauliflower today. I love it fried in butter. Am going to have it tommorow. Been thinking about it all night :-)

Dreamfields pasta is excellent and only has 5 digestable carbs in it. After your two weeks go ahead and try some, I have tried other low carbs pastas and YUCK but this one its like the real thing.
Also I have drank caffinated coffee all along and it didnt stall me at all. Many people are diffrent but I do advise to go to green tea it has it benefits on your metobolism (sp?) Last edited by iamwhoiam : 01-01-2008 at 12:19 PM. |

I still had about 30lbs to lose when I met him, but because I did a bit of backsliding I now have 60 to go...but I WILL do it! So can you!!! I have found an amazing amount of strength in these threads from complete strangers, who unbelievably enough, are not so different from any of us. Some are just further along the path than others. Everybody has been amazing though! I find that these boards help keep me focused and on track. If I feel like I need to go and hit up the local Cold Stone...then I lock myself in my room and get on here! It totally helps! |

Janie- I joined this board 6 years ago and am now fatter than ever. Life and 2 pregnancies have done this to me. I have one year til I am 30 and that is keeping me focused. Get your kid to be your buddy. Not in weight loss exactly although it never hurts to set them on the path to health, but if he is aware enough to WANT this for you, he can become a great alli in this fight. Mine are too young to care and kind of like squishy mommy. lol.
I am here a lot. If you need to talk or vent, I will more than likely be here.

While I have done Low Carb (and I do like it, and it works)...I, like you, "fell off the wagon" once. The problem was that I didn't have a backup plan. To me, it was LC or nothing. And that "nothing" netted me a 60 pound gain! I'm doing intermittent fasting now (The Fast-5 Diet and the Fast-5 Lifestyle) and I LOVE it. I lose about a pound a week on it, and I have more choices. And if/when I get tired of doing I.F., then I will cycle back to Low Carb for a month or 2. The secret is to have a backup plan (in my opinion). No matter which plan I eat on, I'm happy, and losing weight. I don't need to go back to my "gaining" way to eat because now I have choices. Well, this is what works really well for me. Good luck to you!

so how you doing on day 2 of your Atkins? enjoying the yummy veggies with a high fat dressing? how about all that yummy meat you can have too? remember to eat until your hunger is satisfied and stop even if you got room in your beely food on your plate or carbs in your budget you can eat again whenever you get hungry. Learning to only feed our hunger is a huge part of Atkins indution learning.
happy low carbing |

the sugar in the nutrtional label can be naturally occurring sugar like in fruits and veggies. you are looking for added sugars to avoid in the ingredients label so your green beans are a fine food and legal for your induction veggies. just count the carbs in your total for the day and enjoy

Yep all veggies have natural sugars. Its added sugar that is the baddie. And as for them people at work... ignore them. They feel threatened. Simply put. They figure if you change and get hot then they will have to as well to keep it even. Very few people like you if you lose weight.
I had a job I worked at where a woman lost a lot of weight and looked good, but people talked nasty about her because she started dressing better and LOOKING better. As if it were a crime. I'm not trying to scare you off of the diet because when you are fat, people talk no matter what. If you lose weight they talk about how short your new shirt is, if you stay fat, they talk about why you can't just stop eating that JUNK. I know. I am observant and watchful of others and I have gleaned this off of EVERY job I have ever worked. Its crazy, but true. So the question is, do you want to be a healthier you they are talking about. |

There are a couple of women in my office that are against Atkins. Funny thing...they are all trim, healthy and have no trouble with their weight. Atkins has got to be better than my usual diet of soda, fast food, sweets and junk food! My advice...look to the this forum for the support you don't seem to be getting (and make sure to eat your veggies at work, so your co-workers don't freak out)! |

Hi Janie,
I know how you feel. I have some fear also. I'm just getting ready to start Induction. After reading a lot of info, I'm convinced this will work for me, but for some reason THAT is a scary thought. I don't know why. Maybe cause I've been heavy all my life. I really wish I had someone doing this with me. My family will eat the low carb stuff, but they're not really into the idea like I am. But I guess these forums and such will have to work. I do hope to make at least a friend or two, so we can keep tabs on each other, and keep the moral support up. :-) Believe it or not, that was my whole point for you. LOL It seems like this is a good support system, so I hope you'll use it! It looks like you've already gotten several good suggestions for foods to try that won't slow you down. I hope they work for you! Please let us know how it's going for you. :-) Take care, Shannon |
