measuring lettuce
What is the easiest way to measure lettuce?
I use romaine every day for chef salad...I do not measure it as i didnt think it would make that much difference...maybe that is the reason for my stalling...I just fill the bowl and add my ham and cheese... |

I just take a loose, medium sized handful and kind of eyeball it. If I feel that the portion size has crept up a bit, I might use a loosely packed measuring cup, but usually just eyeball it.
Right now, I have a bag of baby spinach from Trader Joe's, which says it contains two four cup servings. They list 3 grams carbs for each of those servings, which comes to 1.5 carbs per day if you're eating an Induction safe amount. Assuming this information is correct for other types of salad greens, you'd really have to be eating a lot of them to cause a stall, IMHO. Plus, you're supposed to get a certain number of carbohydrates from vegetables while doing Induction, so greens might not be the first thing to eliminate from your diet. Do you eat much cream and cheese? I found it so easy to overdo these carb containing Induction foods, especially as I hit the second week and got sort of sloppy. I've heard other people mention that such items as flaxmeal or artificial sweeteners seem to stall them. So I'd look at these items first before looking at veggies. (Though if you feel that you're eating excessive greens, do measure them.) Also, how long have you been on Induction? A true stall is a month without inches or pounds lost.

you can use a food scale and get the same proteion each time regardless of the size of the item you are weighing.
if you have a quart measureing cup you can put your amount in and then fill with water to the nearest cup line. remove the lettuce leaves shaking as much of the water back into the container as possible and subtract the remaining water from your total cup amount and that is the amount of lettuce that was in the container. |

Lettuce is extremely lc-I don't I've ever read a post from someone stalling on it. It would more than likely be from what you are putting on your lettuce. Are you overdoing salad dressings, cheeses, etc? ![]() |

Zactly. Ain't nobody ever ended up on a diet board because they had too much lettuce. But to answer the question - measuring cups are dandy if you really want to be precise.
