Light Headed
`I have done induction for 7 days now. My carbs are at 20 mostly from veggies. Everytime I stand up I feel like I am going to fall over and faint. I always have to grab on to something. Should I add a few more carbs?
Thank you for any advice! |

It may not have anything to do with carbs, but rather with enough food. What are you eating in a typical day. Post a menu and you will get plenty of good advice.

Hi Amber,
This is a common problem it seems for induction level carbs. My advise would be to increase fluids. This woe is a diuretic while in ketosis and low fluid volume will make you extremley light headed. It also lowers blood pressure which is another good reason to stay hydrated. If your not taking a good multi vit, please do. It's easy to get a electrolytle imbalance on this woe if you dont educate your self in all aspects, not just on food choices. I keep my calories very low while low carbing and i dont have any problems, so i would not eat more then what your hungry for for that reason alone. Your typical day looks good.

i'm having the same problems. i have a low blood pressure, though.
i drink almost 100oz of water a day. i take vitamins, minerals and fatty acids twice a day. every day i eat salads, and veggies for dinner. i did not cheat. i do not overeat. should i cut back on calories, or what? should i take some splenda with some jello? i didn't have any "sweets" so far. ![]() Last edited by Jelena : 10-21-2007 at 03:21 PM. |

Since you know your blood pressure is low discuss it with your doc along with your foods and supplements. My doc drew blood and called me to tell me my potassium was low and prescribed some during my extemded induction eating. When I moved to OWl I didn't need it any more. you can check your nutriants on a free site like fitday.com if you go to the goals area and tell it to track all your vits and minerals along with fiber. Then you can see based on your food choiced what if any extra supplements you need.
