Sounds good to me!! Welcome! I like having a posting buddy to keep me on track.

I've been menu planning today using Linda's Low Carb recipe site. Have to head to the store later to stock up!! I'm actually on plan today too, but I'll officially "start" tomorrow.

Linda's site is awesome... I've made quite a bit of her dishes... i need to try some new ones this time around.. i do tend to get bored.. but i'll be keeping it simple for the next two weeks..
I will weigh tomorrow and post my stats... I haven't been on the scale in a while (denial!) I'm at around 230.. my first goal is to just get to 190... then work for 160.. and decide whether to keep going then... I'm 5'7"..

I'm looking forward to losing with you Christy! I'm 5'7" too. I'm hovering between 194 and 196 right now. I'm a scale addict and weigh daily (at least)!! I'm going to take my measurements tomrrow. That's something I've never watched before. I'm also pretty new to Atkins. I did Kimkins for just over a month, but well everyone knows that story. I'm looking forward to trying out a different method and have been reading DANDR today. I'm really trying to stick with mini goals. I'll weigh tomorrow morning and set them up then. I've also got to get my butt back to the gym!! Well tomorrow is a new day!!

Hi, I am also starting (or re-starting) induction on Monday. I also use recipes from the Stella Style website (by Chef George Stella) who lost over 200 lbs. doing his style of Atkins. He has written a couple of books from a chef's perspective entitited, Livin Low Carb and Eating Stella Style.

I also did Kimkins for a month (August) and regained almost all I lost. The first 2 weeks of Atkins is not much different, except there is no "plan behind the plan." It's all there in the Atkins books. Also the transition phases of Atkins make it easier to keep losing and keep the weight off (or at least I hope so).

p.s. Another website that has really good recipes is Low Carb Cooking which has printable recipes. A few of the recipes call for the Atkins bake mixes which have been discontinued. But not all of the recipes have them.

Welcome Fluffy!! Thanks for the links!! I'm so glad to have losing buddies!! I'll have to check out the books.
I feel really fortunate to have maintained what I lost on Kimkins. I was always concerned about the low calories/fat on Kimkins, but man did I love the support over there. I don't post there anymore. I've been getting more involved here for the support. Such a wealth of info too!!

I would like to join you all too. I'm restarted today for what I hope is the last time.

Jess, what type of nursing do you do? I'm currently in my first semester of nursing school.

Hi Fluffy!
I debated trying kimkins.. just knew I wouldn't be able to do it..

Thanks for the info.. I'm always looking for "new" motivation tools.. I'm definitely going to check out those websites.

I've already got a headache and i'm not sure if I am getting sick or just induction "flu".. both my kids (5 and 20 mos) are sick with colds so I'm just waiting for it to hit me.

extraordinary!

Count me in! I have attempted to start induction for the past couple of weeks, but have failed miserably. Today is the day though.

I have lost 81 pounds on Atkins and kept it off for 2 years until this summer I started gaining after a trip to Europe in July. I started eating off plan on that trip and still have not stopped and when I got on the scale this morning I found that I am now up 13 pounds. I am embarassed to say that I am a Kimkins survivor too. I never did well on Kimkins and that is actually when I stopped losing. I was starving myself on Kimkins and then I would binge and I got in a horrible cycle doing that. I cannot believe I fell for it.

I am so angry with myself, but this gaining ends today. I am starting cheat free today, day 1 of Atkins induction.

By the way, I am an RN too. I look forward to getting to know you all better in the days ahead.

Should we post menus? What can we do to support each other and help each other stay accountable?

Awesome!! We've got a group going!!

Extrodinary - I'm an ER nurse. Have been for 7 years at a Level 1 trauma center. Right now I'm a Charge nurse half time and the unit educator half time. I absolutley love it!! I couldn't do anything else.

MauiTammy - Don't be too mad at yourself. Today is the start of a brand new day and with this support, I'm sure we will all do well. Woohoo another Nurse!! What area do you work in??

No food so far today. I'll post my menu though when I get it together. Have a great clean eating day. I'll check in again later.

Jess

I would love to!

I followed Atkins a couple of years ago and lost 60 pounds. I then got pregnant, gained it all back. My son is now 2 and I haven't lost a bit. I'm out of the new mommy fog and ready to get started.

Today is the first day. I need encouragement so badly. I know I can do this, I just have to stay motivated. Maybe we can all help one another; posting menus, encouragement, etc.

I'm Dona by the way. I'm 30, married and from Arkansas.

It's nice to meet everyone.

Lots of people starting induction today! Let's make it a clean and cheat free 2 week induction okay? I am going to give this 100%!

Jess, I worked in the ER for awhile at a Children's Hospital. It was a very sad place and hard on the emotions. I am now the nurse/Health Director at a university.

Good Luck everyone! Eat healthy!

Nice to meet you! Why do babies make us gain so much weight????? Oh well, they are worth it. I've also lost with Atkins before.....for my wedding. It was a great plan for me. Now that I've got a TON more on my plate, it'll be interesting to see how it works. There is NO way I can give up coffee/caffiene. But I didn't give it up before either. So who knows.

That's awesome!

I weighed (yikes) 280 when I gave birth. This morning I weighed 258. I can't believe I'm actually typing that. I guess we first have to accept.

I can't give up my caffeine either. My little man still keeps me up at night. I only have two though and their both diet. I quit cold turkey the last time. I hope it doesn't hinder me this time.

I hear all the time that Atkins doesn't go as well the second time. I'm scared to death.

Hi all! nice group so far!

rough day for me.. headache, cranky, tired.... just want to get past all this..

a little about me...
38, been with my DH for 14 years (married 7 of those), we have a son, 5 and daughter 20 months.. they keep me busy. I am a stay at home mom. When I did work it was in the mortgage/REO/Escrow biz..
I did Atkins a few years ago and took off around 40 pounds... then got sick, gained a little weight, got pregnant and gained some more weight. My daughter is almost 2 (december) and I've been struggling to get back in the grove since she was born.. I can always get 10-12 pounds off, then get stuck, bored, frustrated and give up. I've got to do it this time.

Anyone doing a journal on here? I've been thinking about it...
What's everyone doing as far as exercise?
How's everyone doing so far?

hi all!
re - dedicating myself today for clean eating- been adding too many good/bad things back that i really must leave behind. getting back on the green tea and looking forward to this month!
remember, induction is only 2 weeks out of you LIFE! 2! we have all been carrying around this extra weight for more than that, right? stay strong- and if you are hungry, eat! take your vitamins/omega 3's.
bf is joining me on locarb for 2 weeks and i am going to make him turkey/cream cheese/green onions snacks for when he gets hungry.
if you are all freaking out for breads- try the 1 minute muffin- it is really good and really filling!

fluffy bear- great menu!
shrishyk- where at in socal? i'm in orange...
