August 21 Newbie starting Induction
Well, here goes. I am doing the induction for the first time starting tomorrow (August 21, 2007). I have been exercising at Curves but with no diet. I have been thinking about Atkins for a long time and was really inspired by all the great result photos on this site.
The realization that I need to do something NOW hit me today. I had a great breakfast and lunch but splurged on a rootbeer float. About 10 mins after eating the float I swelled up in my hands, feet and bloated up one size. I felt miserable and ended up with a headache. I did lean for life for a while and remember feeling great. I have to do something now. I am hypothyroid and insulin resistant. Just a few points away from Type 2. I am 5'2" 195. My highest was 220 size 20 but was a steady 145 in high school. I feel crappy all the time unless I control my sugars. I am ready now. I am excited and I think that I will find support on this forum. Oh yeah.. and I am nervous. ![]() Katie |

Welcome Katie!
Did you mean you were starting the 22nd since you posted this late the 21st? Hopefully the float didn't make you loose a day! |

This is my first day on Induction. I actually did K/E Monday and Tuesday. I know you're supposed to do it for at least three days, but I couldn't take it anymore lol, I just had to have some cheese!!!
I plan on doing induction for at least two weeks. And if I stall, I will switch back to kimkins or k/e for a bit. We'll see how it goes. |

Silversunfire, Yes, I meant the 22nd. It was late last night, I was emotional and I didn't realize what the date was. I was off one day. So far so good. Eggs and sausage this morning with a little bit of coffee. Shrimp, cheese, and tomatos for lunch.
KROERT, what is K/E? |

So I've decided to do Atkins, and then if I stall, do Kimkins or K/E for a few days, but not as my WOL. Here are the rules for K/E: Here's the guidelines for the Kimmer Experiment (not M/E): As much lean protein as you desire Length of time is 3-5 days depending on how 'carbed up' you are Purpose is to experience 'real' ketosis (weight loss, no appetite) Useful as a springboard for other LC programs No alcohol, no cheese Basic condiments and spices OK (watch catsup & A1 sauce)

Interesting. Kind of like a combination of Lean for Life. They have three protein days that are lean meat but with low fat cheese. That might be a nice mix up; you know, to keep the body guessing.
