Hi, New! Also question re: Kashi Roll

Hello everyone, i didn't realize there was a forum like this out there and it seems awesome! i did Atkins before getting married and dropped 30 pounds plus got leaner with Pilates. 2 months after tying the knot i found out i was pregnant and gained 46 pounds. My son is 2 now and i'm still needing to lose that weight plus some so it's back on Atkins i go!

My question is about low carb bars. i live on these things for breakfast because i have no time in the AM to cook, etc. i found a Kashi Caramel Peanut Roll that is AWESOME but i realized that i read the label wrong. It says "Diabetic Exchange: 2carbs" Does that mean it's two net carbs or not? i don't think it does...

If anyone can recommend good breakfast/protein/low carb bars i would appreciate it. i love the snickers peanut butter ones but i'm getting tired of always having either peanut in it or the fake chocolate taste of others. TIA!

No nuts or seeds on Atkins Induction.

You might try making an egg casserole at night and then microwaving a chunk in the morning.

A bar isn't a good breakfast... and without knowing the list of ingredients, I doubt this bar is a good choice, Atkins wise.

Even Atkins bars stall most... so I would really urge you to find a better choice for the most important meal of the day.

Jeez! i forgot about the no nuts or seeds during induction! Ok, i'll need to pull out my book tonight and re-educate myself! i hope the shakes (1 carb) are still good, because i can grab and go with that too. Seriously, time is very limited for me.... So even the Atkins bars that are only 2 carbs are not good for induction because of the possible nuts?

Thanks so much!

Why can't you microwave something? Even if it meant getting up 5-15 minutes earlier... aren't YOU worth it?

No bar or shake should be a meal replacement... especially breakfast.

Lots of people with limited time manage to EAT whole, unprocessed food in the morning.

I don't ever recommend bars or shakes in Induction... and truth be told, I don't recommend them at all except in emergencies.

I usually have a shake for breakfast. I understand the time thing--I have 4 kids, 3 that go to Elementary school. I need quick and easy in the AM. I think that if you find that you don't lose weight you can possibly cut them out, but I would certainly try first. I personally see no harm in it. And yes, the shakes would be better than the bars--too many stall with the bars because of the "stuff" that is in them.

I'm gonna go with SJ on this one.

Make yourself some type of breakfast quiche or casserole, enough for at least a few days. Then all you have to do is micro it for a minute and instant, healthy, induction friendly breakfast.

I cook up a bunch of stuff for the entire week on Sundays. If it wasn't for having prepared, easy to heat up meals around, I don't know if I would have succeeded.

I also pre-cook a bunch of meat and stuff on the weekends so I'm not in the kitchen trying to make something for me and for DH. I pre-bake 2 or 3 packages of bacon in the oven and then it just needs to heat up in the micro while I scramble a couple of eggs and I'm ready to go in the moring.
I need to look at some new recipes though.

I go back and forth between pre-made revolution rolls with butter and deviled eggs made up by the dozen and waiting in the fridge.

Oh and I have 2 elementary age kids + 6 daycare kids that arrive form 7:30 - 9 am and all need to be fed, oh yeah and my DH and FIL who I make lunches for every morning so I know about busy. It can be done.
