Cholesterol question-x posted

I posted this question in the lc forum, but I know some of you here are very astute on these matters, so I thought I'd also post it here.

I had my blood tested in January and my Total Cholesterol was 231, HDL 53 and LDL 161. The Triglycerides were 83. At those numbers, the only one that was high was the LDL, so my doctor put me on CoQ10 and red yeast rice to bring it down. I also decided to return to lc because in the past, that also brought the numbers down.

But, yesterday I was tested again. This time, he only tested for LDL because that was the one that was high. It quite oddly went up to 165. I really don't understand that. Now he wants me to get another suppliment to add to the mix.

Could coconut oil be the culprit here? I am taking co at the rate of about 4-5 Tbs a day. That is the only variable on what I am doing this time as opposed to when I was on lc before.

Thanks, Guardian. That site you linked to is very technical.

I called my doctor today and asked why he only called for the LDL this time and not the entire profile. I told the nurse that I was under the assumption that it was the ratios and not the individual numbers that mattered and without the entire profile, those ratios could not be known. She said he is only concerned with the LDL because that was the one that was slightly high. He said the thinking nowdays is that the rest of the numbers are really of no concern, but the LDL is the one they want in the good range.

THis is a new doctor for me. I went to him because I was told he was more of a holistic type doctor and I didn't want a pill pusher. He doesn't want to prescribe the regular cholesterol meds, but he is still pushing his favorite suppliments. I think I may just ride this one out and not take the suppliment that he suggested. I would think that by cutting back on the carbs and losing weight, this will work itself out. I was just reading that if you aren't eating cholesterol, your body will manufacture more if there is healing to be done. If the healing is complete, the cholesterol will go down. It said your body only makes what it needs.

Peony i have also a great tip that will put you LDL down by 10%.
But you have to remember not to do this in induction.
I am studying Master of wine and spirits so i know what i am talking about.
So here is the cure :
Drink red wine with high concentration of tannines.
So best wines made from Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon.
My father has also the same problem but he started to do this and yes the LDL went down.
So how much do you need to drink?
Most important is to drink everyday if possible and do not binchdrink.
So one glass a day is oke.
But it will slightly effect ofcourse your diet.
