Laxatives? Cheese? Tofu?
Hi, I'm new, so you'll probably see a lot more questions from where these came from...
I'm currently on Day 4 of induction, and I've lost about 4-5 pounds-ish...I think it's mostly water weight, but anyway, what I'm really concerned with right now is how I, er, haven't passed anything yet. I've been peeing practically every half hour, but no Number 2's so far. I hate the idea of this, especially as someone who would have a bowel movement once a day (ick, sorry for the gory details!). Is this normal? When can I experience normal bowel movements again, and is there a laxative or fiber supplement I could take in the meantime to put my mind at rest? Also, I've been eating a ton of cheese, and moderate amounts of tofu. Is this alright to do during Induction? Thanks, everyone ![]() |

I have found that a tablespoon of mineral oil helps with a day and a half. Also eat dark greens, they seem to do the trick also.

Dannalee, I urge you to read the book again. Cheese can only be consumed in limited quantities (NOT a ton). Cheese is a known constipator, and it stalls many people. If you are doing Induction, cut back on the cheese.
Many people experience some bowel troubles early on. Eat more green veggies, drink water, and add flaxmeal/psyllium husks if possible to your diet. Thsi should get you moving... -mirchi |

I do tofu...remember to count the carbs...my brand has 1gr carb...carbs is what you need to be carefull about during induction...agree with the rest..though for me i'd rather have natural lax = vegies and flaxseed...ground flaxseed i.e

I have found broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower good carbs to help with the bathroom problem, also taking vit C 500mg, it is a stool softener, also magnesium 200mg helps, then there are psyllium husks, really light tasteless from the natural food store or bulk foods, really cheap too. Sprinkle on anything, every meal till you get a result, you dont need a huge amount.
Do try to keep the cheese to a minimum till you get a result. Good Luck, |
