I am not insulin-resistant, so even I eat 30g of carbs per day I am still in ketosis. I am doing induction, but even 20g/day is not enough for my metabolism. I have two little kids, and I run around after them constantly, so I think I have no problems burning off 10g or so of carbs Everyone is different, so just remember that even if one person is not in ketosis eating 20g per day, another person can be in ketosis eating up to 30g or 40g per day. After you've been in ketosis for a couple of weeks, it's okay to start up'ing the amount of carbs in your diet, 5g/day at a time.

I have been doing Atkins Induction Phase I since 12/29/12 and have only lost 6 lbs. Well, it goes up and down a 1 - 1.5 lbs in days. So frustrated. I have not consumed more than 20g carbs in a day!!! What is up?

Week 3, Day 5

Hi all! I'm new to the website. I lost 5 lbs by day 10, but I've stalled since. I am working with a doctor who is on board- in fact, she's an OBGYN who has a weightloss clinic where she promotes low-carb eating.

She said my stall may be attributed to eating Atkins products and other artificial sweeteners. I suppose I'll have to completely suppress my sweet tooth.

I'm staying on Induction for a while. I've got another 60 or so lbs to lose. It's a daunting thought.

The doctor also suggested I change my multivitamin, take vitamin D, take probiotics, and go off birth control in order to evaluate my hormone levels accurately. (I'm 27, and last year I had an estrodiol level of 11, so my then doctor put changed my BC method from Nuvaring to the pill).

Here's to hoping for success!

Ok I want to exercise during the induction phase but I thought that initially adds pounds as the fat becomes muscle?
I thought the induction phase was all about that 'quick start' to get motivated?
Will I still lose some weight the first two weeks if I do exercise? Help please and thank you!

Have you remained on Induction that whole time? Would it be an idea to shock the body by doing Induction for 6 days a week and then taking the carb count up to say 40-50 for the seventh day for a couple weeks? Would that help? My Doctor suggested it and it seemed to work for my husband. It didn't for me but then I didn't exactly follow the diet very carefully.
Good Luck!

I'm in the same boat. Have been doing induction since March, and aside from two slip ups, have been very strict. I've been battling the same 2kgs since starting, esp at the TOM which magically brings those 2kgs back! I haven't been able to give up two small sachets of Crystal Light either (mixed in a total of 3litres). And am hypothyroid to top it all off! I do a fair amount of weight training and some cardio (limited due to injuries).

I am really trying not to get discouraged. Everyone says they can see I've lost weight, but damn it, I want the scales to show it :-)

Can't say this enough: I was stalled for 2-3 weeks, started adding 1/2 an Avacado per day and some other veggies like celery and broccoli w some ranch and I broke that barrier. Just hit low last Friday for first time in years. Prob up a lil from the weekends beer etc. figure out what works if you can. I have eaten 3000 cal plus some days and still lost a lb or so. It's a constant battle either way.

Hi all!

Just re-found LCF after a LONG hiatus. I began Atkins Induction May 1st of this year and am down 30 lbs (though it fluctuates up and down a couple of pounds) and was stalled at 175 - 178 forever. But I'm happy with my progress thus far I'm pretty much halfway to my first goal of 140 so I'm good. I feel amazing and hubs said "wow, your waist has an actual INDENT again!" LOL...well, I've taken off 4" on the waist, 3" on each thigh, another 2 1/2 from the booty and am well on my way

I decided to stay on induction, more or less, throughout the process.

What I've read is that is a sign that your body is Keto mode. That's FAT BURNING... Which is a good sign, but you need to eat something if you get dizzy. and drink more water.

I See a lot of the advice here recommending people eat things that are not allowed on induction.

Things you should probably avoid on induction:
Tomatoes, salsa, peanut butter, half n half (unless tiny amounts) nuts, beef jerky, alcohol, ketchup, BBQ sauce, most dressings have hidden sugars too.

These should be obvious, but you would be surprised how many people still use them.

There is nothing wrong with tomatoes. They are on the list of Induction acceptable foods. They have just a higher carb count than some of the other veggies. Same with onions.

Unless you are sensitive to them, or they set off cravings, they shouldn't be a problem. Just count accurately and watch the portion size.

My first two weeks on Atkins induction and maybe lost 2 lbs in 2 weeks. Meanwhile I go up and down 2 lbs normally so really dont feel like I lost anything. My clothes may feel a bit better but nothing substantial I guess its my age catching up to me I used to be able to go on Atkins and drop at least a 5 the first week maybe more. I did it last year for 3 weeks and didnt lose and now 2 weeks in and not losing. My diet is really hard to say nothing consistent. BUt mostlys consists of either scrambled eggs with cheese or hard boiled eggs coffee with a bit of heavy creak. Tuna salad, chicken salad. chop meat type chili with spices, chicken and snacking on cheese and or olives. I have not cheated ok yesterday I ate like 4 little french fries but thats about it in 2 weeks. I dont like keeping track of calories etc thats why I am not on WW. but these past two weeks have been rough. I dreamt of chocolate chip cookies and all but I been really good and I dont know if I can continue but I am lost dont know if I can go on

Does anyone know the fat/protein ratio. I think i don't eat enough fat and too much protein. I was looking at fat bombs and they have things like PB which isn't on induction or Nut butters. Cream cheese I was trying to minimize my cheese? Today I ate nothing hardly all day. Been out of the house all day. I don't know if I should even eat at 10:30 at night.

There's no set amount or right ratio. You need to research more and see what works for your lifestyle. Try cutting out cheese and using good fats like coco oil or evoo. Dairy stalls people. Drink lots of water. I still eat a lot I never lost my appetite one bit. Almost a year later at that

Week 3 no weight loss.. I cut down cheese. I can't do it anymore. I'm sad cause I loved the energy and not being hungry but I need to lose. 30 lbs by May at this rate I'll never make it there. I wish I could figure out why. I even upped my water. I used to drop weight like water on this diet. Maybe I messed up my body with all my yo yo diets.

I've been stuck for months up and down same 10 lb range. I keep hearing you need to change it up every two weeks to confuse metabolism. I just am so used to my foods to do it. I tried high protein moderate fat but it seems it's hard to limit fat now. Who knows. I'm still happy but would like to see another 20 off at least.

I agree with jacki try atkins 72 induction, or at least read it and compare it to your current menu. I'm only on day 4 of it, I truly feel so much better, might not be something you can do, but then again it might be exactly what you need, I also would recommend reading some in the NK forum.

I have been on Atkins induction plan for about a week and 1/2 and have lost about 4.8 lbs, I have also been trying to work out at least 4 times a week. I have doing exercise for about a few weeks now. I have tried to maintain my carb intake to about 20 grams per day. I have at least 1 cup -16oz coffee daily with expresso and 3 packs of "splenda" no more splenda at all for the day. I have been doing good. But the other day my hubby and I stopped at the store I got a pepsi max and small UTZ plain chips and drank 1/4 oz of soda and 1/2 bag of chips. That morning I weighed myself still expecting a loss and went up .2 lbs. Next day I did the same thing, and still the same results .2lbs. Even with working out 30 min. daily the scale goes up. So in reading some of your posts I think I will cut back on my caffeine, no soda's and no more chips. My 20th Anniversary is next week and hubby wants a small 6-inch cake in celebration, I don't know how I am going to handle that!!![ack in 2006 - 2007 I was able to lose and maintain with about 30 grams of carbs daily but I am not able to do it this time around.

One thing I can say is I think where the scale is lacking I am losing inches because I put on a pair of jeans this morning and I feel amazing in them. They aren't loose per say but they feel different and my muffin top doesn't poke out so much now!! Woo hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4. VEGETABLES-Remember, the 20 grams of carbohydrates that you consume per day should mostly come from vegetables. You can have 3-4 cups of salad or 2 cups salad, 1 cup cooked vegetables per day using only the vegetables on the acceptable food list. This is very important. Eliminating the vegetables may shut down your metabolism and your weight loss will stall.
