Does anyone else have trouble with the Snackies? I work out of my home, and everytime I walk by the table or the kitchen, there is food of some sort within reach? Also, what do you do when trying to stay at 20 carbs or so, and the Christmas suppers, etc for work? Do you blow one meal and try to stay at zero carbs the rest of the day and next, or what?

I am frequently in ketosis, and even with the strips turning dark, I don't lose weight. I don't understand this-- does someone have an explaination? It's so frustrating!

I noticed that when I eat protein then check my strips it shows me in ketosis...i dont believe they are accurate ....because i can also do a strip later in the day if I havent eaten and Ill be out of ketosis..

You can be in ketosis and not spill any excess ketones. That's why the strips are NOT the end all and be all to defining success. They are not 100% accurate as to what is going on. |

Stuck on induction...
Hi All,
In response to the earlier post about yeast overlaod... I have heard of it but not what to do about it. I read a book, years ago "the yeast connection"... they recommended a statin drug to correct. OK, I've been on induction and (like all previous times) and stuck at -7. I need to kick myself out of this before I get discouraged. Russ |

You can lose any amount you need to... but it's the keeping it off and eating healthy that is the "real goal". If you have less to lose, your rate of loss will probably be slow... and you would progress through the phases of Atkins at a more rapid pace. But there's no reason you can't "do Atkins". |

To me the whole key has been that I feel better. And the foods that are acceptable are "my" kind of eating.
Ketosis isn't the primary goal, in my opinion. To lose weight and not be in ketosis should be the end goal. And I went over 2 wks without losing anything, but did lose inches during that time. I made myself a promise that I was going to stick with it for 45 days, no matter what. And I was losing again by that 45 days. But not large number of pounds. But I also agree with others, that losing too much weight too fast probably isn't good for a person. And it didn't go on real fast either, so should come off the same way. It has taken me 30 years to be 30 lbs overweight. But I want it to come off much faster than that.

Induction Phase Questions???
Hi Everyone:
I am a newbie to the boards and on day 5 of the induction phase. I've tried the Atkins diet about 3 years ago and lost 30 lbs in a short period of time. Howver, I went back to eating many carbs and sugar and gained it all back plus some. I started the induction phase this Monday 1/15 and have a few questions about a couple of items I've seen in the store with low net carbs. 1. Can I have Blue Bunny low carb ice cream bars? The total net carbs are 2g. It is made with sucrolose? 2. I drink flavored water sweetened with sucrolose. Does anyone know how many carbs I should count for a 16oz bottle of water sweetened with sucrolose? 3. I read on of the posts which stated that the sugar free candies may stall the weight loss. Can these be eaten in moderation? Thank you for your help. I am so happy I found this site. One of the reasons why I fell off the wagon before was the lack of recipes and variety of food I could eat. |

I have found that the flavored drinks can be addictive, and stall out more than water. In my case. I could drink Crystal Lights all day and forget any water.....................................Not good.
I believe others have said count at least one carb for every flavored drink. |

All they tell you is whether or not your body is getting rid of excess ketones. They do not tell you if you're being successful... the scale and the tape measure do that! |

I am learning that "cheating" is not what it seems to the eye.
What one may not think of as "cheating" might just be something that stalls me. What works for some might not work for others. |

30lb of fat to loose and 2 weeks in still have 30lb to loose
I weigh 200lb and would like to weigh 170 with no belly fat! I am 5'10. I go to the gym 2-4 times per week. I normally eat 2 eggs in the morning, atkins bar for a snack, steak/chicken for lunch with some pepper jack cheese, and the same for dinner. I feel satisfied as far as the amount of food I'm eating... After doing this for 2 weeks I thought I would see some results but don't. The stix say I'm in ketosis and I'm drinking a lot of water. I'm not giving up but just wondering what else I can do... I want to be slim and trim by the time summer gets here- really sooner!

Atkins is more about the vegetables than anything... you must get 12-15 net carbs from vegetables per day while doing Induction! I would also get rid of the Atkins bar... they stall many, if not most. Atkins is about unprocessed food! |

Ditto on the Atkins bar. You might want to check out the first post on the Atkins 72 thread which outlines all the food choices.

hi im new to the boards but not new to atkins. i lost three stone two years ago and can honestly say it was easy the weight just dropped off . foolishly i lost my concentration and before i knew what was happenning i had started to regain weight, obviously i had to get back into the atkins way of eating again, i gladly returned to the best way of eating
but now in spite of sticking to the diet rigorously im getting nowhere . i think my clothes have eased off but i wonder if im just fooling myself. i come close to giving up then tell myself keep going it will happen. what am i doing wrong, not drinking enough water, not eating enough fat or eating too much of something thats causing the stall . help any ideas

About 5 years ago I lost 40 pounds on Atkins and was maintaining pretty well until I had a hysterectomy which completely destroyed my metabolism. I started induction last Sunday 3-11 (I made it thru the first two weeks!!).
Last time I was on induction for a solid month before I started to see any results. Very discouraging but I stuck with it. I know this time is going to be even harder due the change in my metabolism but I am determined to stick with it! So don't get discouraged by others losing several pounds and you aren't losing at first, everyone's bodies are different. For me, I never had the burst of energy that many get. Also I found the first 4-8 the days the hardest, it seems like once I got past that I was more in a routine. Hang in there, I know I am!! |

Hi people,
just started Atkins on monday. Lost about 6lbs already but i know it is also a lot of water. My experience to the matter is if you don't lose weight measure your body because it is possible with exercise that you gain muscles and muscles are heavier then fat. Second stay away from light drinks as much as possible. Best thing to drink is pure water and i know it is not always easy but try to drink water at a temperature you like to drink it. Sounds maybe strange but not everybody likes to drink water when its cold. 3. And most important DON'T GIVE UP !! Studies have shown that this diet is going faster then any other diet in a year. So be patient and we will try to support eachother. |

Sunday will be a real first test for me. I have being invited to "De Ronde van Vlaanderen" event as a VIP. There will be lunch and i don't know what they will serve. You also have to know that me, as wineimporter, staying away from wine is not easy. So i made a deal with myself to consume only 2 glasses on every sunday. |
