Try to use liquid if you can, like stevia or sf flavored ones. They're 0 carbs and shouldn't have as much affect as powdered sweeteners from those buffers added in.

Stalled last Week, Gained 6 lb this week?

I've been on induction for about a month. And the last week of induction was my menostration time so I didn't loose any weight.
The first 3 weeks I went from 148-138. I'm 5"7 1/2 by the way.

I didn't notice any physical changes, still the same size. So after my menostration on the 5th week of induction I started exercise running at this bike camp for kids, and today at the end of the week the scale says 144 lbs!

My waist measurement did shrink I admit over this induction from a 32 inch waist to a 29 inch waist. But otherwise I don't notice much change.

Why did I gain six lbs? I've been staying 20-30 grams of carbs a day.
Here's my daily diet for this week:

Cream cheese pancakes w/ stevia: 5 carbs
2 tbsp natural sugar free peanut butter: 4 carbs
unsweetened almond milk w/ coconut oil and cocoa: 1 carb
2 stalks of celery: 2 carbs
1 scoop protein poweder 2 carbs:
3 oz feta cheese: 3 carbs
3 oz neufschatel cheese: 3 carbs
2 packets of splenda in tea: 2 carbs

Meats
Chicken
Beef
fish

Breakfast meats 1 serving of either a day:
Italian sausage: 4 carbs
sage sausage: 4 carbs
Feta spinache sausage: 3 carbs

Could it be the breakfast meats, or peanut butter making me stall because these are recent additions to my diet? I thought since I am exercising way more I could go up a tad bit in carbs but other wise I am confused.

Muscle weighs more that fat
That's quite a bit of cheese
Watch sodium, sausages have more of course.

I go down slowly cause I lift and cardio a lot. You just have to add/subtract things to see what works for about a week. I'd add more veggies though personally. The protein might not be a good idea yet either, as you want a lot of fat. Try more butter and olive oil maybe??

I've been eating tons of coconut oil. I guess I will cut down on the cheese and start to eat more veggies. I realize that I havent been eating alot of those.

I don't understand why I am not showing any loss when the sticks are dark purple. I am so sad and depressed about this.
If your sticks are dark purple, then you are not getting enough water and your body NEEDS water to mobilize the fat and move it out....try posting a sample menu and see if this forum can help you with some feedback.

Help- I'm stalled

Hi Everyone, I'm Bren and I'm new here. I did do Atkins for a stint in 2002 but never stuck to it. I began induction on 7/31/13 and have since lost 18lbs. Those lbs were mostly lost in the first 3 weeks and suddenly...nothing. What is going on?

What's your plan? What are you eating, exercise, carb intake, etc etc?? It does slow down a bit but depends on what you are doing.

Diabetes, Atkins Bars and Shakes

Hi everyone, Im new here and have a few questions. I once was a little over 300 lbs. It was about 6 years ago and it wast he same time I was diagnoised with Pre Diabeties type 2. I went on Atkins and stayed in induction for 6 months. Hiked my butt off, up and down hills with my dogs and I actually lost 100 lbs in that time. Sucess? Yes.

Now at this time I'm still 195 to 200, give and take. I went off the diet for one reason or another. In between that time I was diagonised Diabetes 2. Been on Metformin for about 4 years.

I started back on Atkins beginning of August this year. I've gotten to moderate on my ketone sticks but no further. Sometimes I go down to trace. Back when I was on the diet before they didnt have so many bars and also no boxed meals. Now they do.

My question is: Even though the boxed meals and bars say their good in all phases, are they the reason I'm not in full ketosis?

and I switched to decaf coffee with half and half and a little sugar free vanilla in them, about 3 cups, is that wrong?

and, I switched to decaf tea with one spendid bag, and always count the carbs in both the coffee and tea, adding to my total. Something I did before and it didn't affect me when I lost a 100 lbs. Is that something I should quit?

Getting frustrated Ty for any help.

Most bars etc stall people from the high alcohol sugars in them. I'm not sure about meals I have never used either.

I've never seen more than a trace on keto sticks. I stopped using them altogether. If you're drinking enough water, it shouldn't be very purple either way. The morning would be the highest.

I still use coffee, sometimes that much. I do tbsp butter, two tbsp coco oil first thing. If I have more I try to use stevia and hwc. 1/2 1/2 has too many carbs for me.

Many things stall people, you have to find what works for you.

Hello all who are stuck or gaining.... I'm Ciara and I was stuck at 192.6 for 4 days straight. Yesterday I started drinking 2 tablespoons of organic apple cider vinegar in my big 32 oz mug and this morning I was 191.2. I feel like it's the vinegar making the difference but we will see if I keep getting consistent results with it. Just wanted to share

That's an interesting one I don't think I've heard of yet. 4 days is nothing, I think atkins doesn't consider it a stall unless it's 6 weeks at the same weight.

Really? I guess I'm comparing my results to the 1st time that I did Atkins 13 yrs ago where I lost a pound a day during the induction phase.

Down another 0.8 lbs this morning from yesterday with the ACV. I'll try to continue being consistent with it to see if it's really helping or just a fluke.

I had a complete physical and my doctor said I should loose some weight it would help me with the back pain I have been experiencing. I tried a fat fast for two days and it worked, I am in ketosis, after that I have been eating 20 or under 20 gr of carbs a day, but I cnnot understand why I am not losing.

It was my understanding that if I was in ketosis I would be losing even a lb a week,, but nothing,,, this is really disencourging,,, specially when I see other people eating pasta and drinking wine,,, and me on steak and water,,,,can someone help me with this,,, I am ready to quit!!!

My normal weight was 105-110.... due to lots of stress and complication, now I am 140, I am 5 feet tall,,, this is really difficult,, I know lots of people here have over 100 lbs to loose,,, but for me this is as hard,,, nothing fits me, and I have to do something about it.

Please help. Why I am not losing if I am on deep ketosis?

Exactly the same happens here - into my 5th week's induction.
Lost 3-4 on the 1st week. Gained back.
Now on 5th week actually gained more - now I'm 5 lbs more than when I started.
Keto strips pink-beige - except for once purple. No loss. Very tired, no energy.

5'5 - 141 lbs - start 10/19 - now 146 on 5th week - goal is 114 lbs. Did Natalia Rose raw food/juice before - now on Atkins original per his '72 plan.

cb83 is right a stall is at least 6 weeks. I was stalled for almost 4 moths. I had to drop the carb intake to 5-6 a day and eliminate all dairy, sugar subs, and NO Atkins bars or shakes to break the stall.

ACV

Don't know if it helps with weight loss but it sure it a "cure all" for many ailments. Gave it to my dogs for "hot spots" and it worked great. For a couple of months I'd add Virgin acv to their water dish and in no time they were fine. Saved a ton at the vet and harmful antibiotics and prednisone. Check it out.

I've been taking more supplements in the last few weeks, and and one has cider vinegar powder. Hopefully it helps. It's got lecithin, kelp, b6, and the cv powder.

Looks like ALOT of cheese, Peanut Butter and Almond milk, all of these can cause stalls and slow down the weight loss. Sweetners are limited to 3 per day. You need to eat claen and by the book. adding all the cheese, PB, and sweetners can rebel against you. Try adding a salad or a veggie in the mix instead.

Hi Bren:

Welcome.. You have to understand the 1st 2 weeks of induction is when you lose the fastest. After that it all slows down. You might want to stay on Phase 1 a while longer. Possibly lower your carb count. Eat clean.
I lose extremely slow and in order to lose, I eat 5-6 carbs a day, no dairy, sweets, sodas, or caffine. It helped break a 4 month stall.

Keep in mind not all suggestions will work for you. You need to find which one works best for you. Everyone loses weight differently. If you realize the weight loss will slow down and eat clean, you will lose the weight. The body has to adjust to what you have lost already and then it will start again. During that time you are probably losing inches. Make sure to measure also. Drink lots of water to flush away that fat.

Good luck and post alot when you have any questions. We are on this road together.

Do NOT get frustrated, stress is not the answer. DO NOT USE the bars or shakes. They can and do cause stalls. It caused me to stall for 4 months. I finally figured out what the problem was and omitted them and dairy, sweetners, and caffine and broke the stall. Yes I have No coffee and rarely any tea.

You might want to stay on Induction a while longer and try omitting all the "EXTRA" food and eat clean by the book. You can do this, you already have lost so much.; Keep in mind, your body is different now. You are on meds that can react to the LC weight loss as well. The weight will come off, maybe not as fast as before, but if you stick to the plan, you can do this.

Good luck and WELCOME

I have been doing low-carb on and off for years, always with lots of success. However, I am a yoyo dieter; each time I lose, I then get lazy and stop working out, fall off the low-carb/portion control wagon for a year or two, and regain the pounds because of it.

That being said, I can also say that I am very, very good at losing weight.

What has always worked for me in the past is using software to painstakingly catalogue every single thing I put in my mouth. Measuring cups and a kitchen scale. And maintaining a low carb intake (<30).

Well, this time around, I lost 11 pounds on induction during the first two weeks and then stalled in the third week when I upped my carbs to 25-30 for OWL.

I decided to add in JUDDD to my low carb lifestyle -- AND reduce my carbs back to induction level for a while. Just three days on induction/JUDDD and *poof* the weight started coming back off again. To stay at induction level for carbs I had to eliminate legumes completely (which is really hard for a vegetarian) and cut back a lot of veggies.

But on a more positive note I was able to add in more cheese and nuts.

So, for me anyway, I plan to stay at induction level for carbs for a few more weeks (at least until mid January, to get me through the Holidays) and keep doing JUDDD as well. Then I will be adding more vegetable and legume carbs back in in tiny amounts until I find the tipping point where I start to stall.

PS I also purchased a glucose/ketone monitor and stips. When they arrive (hopefully this week) I will be able to measure my ketones more accurately. Also I will then be able to find out (later on in OWL) whether certain "low-carb" foods cause my blood sugar to spike.

I've been stalled for about the past two months. It was very frustrating, so I had a cheat day on Saturday to try to break the stall, and now I'm cutting out all artificial sweeteners to see if that will help. I was insanely bloated and gassy, and looking back I think it got worse when I started making fat bombs with liquid Stevia. I feel better already.

At work tonight, I thoughtlessly ate a small handful of white chocolate drizzled caramel corn at work and spit out most of it (not a habit of mine, but it just wasn't worth it to me). I just want to rush home and fry up a burger!

Ugh, just ate caramel popcorn again. UGH. I made the mistake of not bringing induction-friendly food with me to work.

I definitely cheat on the "allowed" foods, but I am pretty much staying at induction carb level all the time these days: 15-20. I seem to be able to accomplish this while eating nuts and cheese, even though they are not "legal" foods in induction. I really have no choice since I am a vegetarian and if I didn't eat nuts and cheese my diet would consist of only eggs. lol

That's a lot of carbs! Drop the high carb sausages and look for lower carb ones. A lot of sweet Italian turkey sausages are carb free.

Too many artificial sweeteners. Limit to 4 or less per day

Peanut butter is not induction friendly. Almond milk is not induction friendly.

Your eating a lot of soft cheeses high in carb.

Where are your veggies?

Drop the protein powder. Atkins is not a high protein diet. It is a low carb one. Too much protein can hurt progress.

These things should help.
