re-inducting, second time around

hi everyone,
i was wondering if you have any advice for re-inducting. i was on atkins sucessfull this past summer, but winter has really tripped me up. gained all the weight back, and want to start over so that by spring break i will be down. i am scared that going on and off atkins and on and off again will make it so that it doesnt work... how many times can you successfully re-do it before it just doesn't have the magic anymore?
anyone else have these worries or concerns?
advice and tips appreciated, thanks a ton

just pick a plan and stay true to it.

my "second time around" is going better than my first! More pounds lost on induction while having less to lose.

You CAN do it!

Way to go!! I am starting to re-induct all over again, too. I had been successful for 4 years and broke my pattern this summer - depression set in upon learning and dealing with the fact that my mom has Alzheimer's and planning her move and moving her from Philadelphia to New York. I also lost my job June 30 with no money coming in with a hassle from Unemployment. My treadmill broke down in the process of all of this. So, sweets was my craving along with the no-nos of french fries, white rice, donuts, all of the things I'd successfully avoided.

Now that things are turning around . . . I am getting back on track, literally with just one set back this past weekend. I strained a lower back muscle and have been off my feet for the past week, not being able to continue my workout of 5 days per week which 3 days were fulfilled last week. Ughhhhhhhh!!!! A rough road but I will succeed.

Well, I CAN and WILL DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN -- I'd gained 12 lbs of which 4 are gone but I am going for a total of 20 lbs to take off! Now that I have found this board and new friends (which I shifted over from ultimatewedding.com's board that has been closed down), I am regaining my confidence.

I'm in the same boat. I had been on Atkin's a few years ago and lost 50 pounds in 5 months! But then for different reasons (stupidity being a major factor) I went off the deep end and regained everything and then some. So now I'm back on track on Induction again and I must say, I forgot how good it felt to have all this energy back LOL ... If nothing else, this diet is great for the energy! ... It feels good to be alive ... I have a long way to go, 125 pounds to lose, but concentrating for now on the short term goal of 23 pounds from where I started (253 ) which is I think a 5 or 10 percent loss. I think I will concentrate on those small losses which will add up to one big loss in the end ... so that I dont get overwhelmed with the numbers lol

One day at a time does the trick, dont worry about tomorrow, it has enough worries of its own ... and if you go off track one meal you can get right back up the next! (that's me preaching to the choir there lol) ...

I feel for your loss with your mom, Alzheimer's is a terrible thing ... and the whole job thing ... my own mother passed away two years ago (not from Alzheimer's though an uncle died from it not very long ago) and I have been out of work for three years due to a work injury, my husband has been laid off since Feb this year and so we've had to deal with the Unemployment people, too ... thankfully he was able to get part time at the local saw mill for a bit and is now working through a temp agency but still, its not enough ... Just stay focused on the positive things and everything will work out in the end

Better get off of here for a bit, chat with ya'll later!

Hi Kate!
Good luck to you starting over again. I think you will do fine. Some people say there is only the "magic" the first time, and others say they have done it many times with good results. I think if you stay true toyour plan you will have good results. It is a tough time of year to start! I plan to go back to induction after the Holidays. although I stay pretty low carb all the time.

I'm starting over again too and am glad to see someone else is tackling this during the holidays. I miss the energy I had before more than anything. Today, walking into school, I thought, "60 pound truly equals three sacks of potatoes!" So, no more potatos for now. I had the best salad today with Feta cheese, chicken and mixed greens. And sugar-free jello at night gives me my sweet fix.

I am in the same boat, I have started to get back in the game with Atkins. This is the only thing that works for me. Last year, I lost 35 lbs in 2 months and I started feeling good about myself and fell off . I know that carbs are my bodies enemy. But somehow, I keep trying to re-introduce them to each other, and it turns ugly. I have to make this work for me , and keep telling myself that I am worth it.

Okay, we are definitely all in the same boat but it's going somewhere positive. I am about to get on my treadmill . . . I had failed to mention that I suffered a low back injury (sciatica) on December 11th and have been recuperating . . . so I couldn't work out for the past two weeks. I searched the internet and saw an exercise plan for sciatica sufferers which encouraged 20-30 mins on a treadmill, sensibly, of course. Since my lower back feels better, I will start off on a much slower pace. I used to work out 5 days a week religiously for an hour, doing a 4 mile walk at 3.5 - 4.3 speeds. I had kept a personal journal as well as jotting my progress on the Ultimate Wedding boards - which are no longer working. Well, I can start here now with my new weightloss buddies!

Can't cry over spilled milk just have to "pour another glass." I appreciate everyone's comments as this gives me the ammunition I need to get started. I have decided that my goal is to lose 20 lbs. I just weighed myself at I am at 165 lbs. Earlier this year, I'd purchased clothing that I must get into and I am determined to do that.

Being on Atkins helped me so much. Low carb is the only plan that works for me, too. Coupled with exercise, that is my secret for staying healthy. I will check in periodically with updates. Let's all hang in there and I am so happy to have a new place with new buddies!

Just wanted to add that I had noticed a two-week induction meal plan on the Atkin's web site that was rewritten to include Atkin's bread and up ato 22 grams of carb count - but the actual Induction plan stated no bread whatsoever and the 20 grams of carb count.

I guess each individual has to follow their own pattern . . .
