What happened to Carb Countdown?
This chocolate stuff has been a godsend to me! And I would swear that just a few weeks ago it had the Atkins "A" on the carton and it had 2g net carbs per cup. Now it says it has 5g total carbs and 1g fiber and doesn't mention Atkins at all.
Does anyone know what's going on? Did they maybe change it or is there something I'm missing? I'm getting distressed LOL! You have no idea how much I love this stuff and I don't want to cut out my cup a day! ![]() OK I'm editing to add that I just looked it up on the Atkins site and although it says that Chocolate Carb Countdown has 2g of net carbs, when I click to show the complete nutritional info, I can't get the nutritional info page to work. However, I did look at the nutritional info on the carton and there are 3g of SUGAR per cup!!! That cannot be the same recipe they used before because I know for a fact there were only 2g of carbs per cup. I have it in my fitday as 2g per cup and I input everything into my fitday from the actual labels. NOT a happy camper about this. Last edited by bkjrh : 08-22-2005 at 01:52 PM. |

Hello,
Bjkrh, I love the Hood's Chocolate Low-Carb dairy product and wonder if it is the same one that you are asking about. I haven't had it since I switched from Lean for Life to Atkins, so I am trying to remember the amount of "net" carbs for 1 cup. I know it wasn't 5 "net" carbs and I am thinking that it was listed as 3 "net" carbs. I remember that a lot of the gals on the LfL program used it, even heated it for "hot chocolate." I am wondering if the product you are talking about lists "net" carbs on the front or back of the container. The Hood's came in 1/2 gallon box containers.

Hi Donna!
This is the Carb Countdown that I've been getting. I know it used to have 2g net carbs and now it has 3g of sugar alone. That website gives the nutritional info. But if you look here at the info on the Atkins site regarding CC, it still says 2g. Obviously the formula/recipe Hood is using has changed. It just sucks that I have no idea *when* it changed. Live and learn I guess..... Sunnigirl: I don't know about Atkins products but this is actually made by Hood. It's delicious! If you run across it (and are a fan of chocolate milk), it's a great treat! |

Greeaaatttt. I just bought the choc tonight because you have all been raving about it. Didn't even look at the sugar content, but yeah, it's 4 net carbs. I'm bummed they d/c'd their yogurt, I liked them very much.
I also bought some normal food guys. I am just having too difficult a time on Atkins. The first time was a charm but these last two, don't know. I know I'm going to s---w myself but I am trying to adopt the Sugar Busters again; whole grains (they don't give me cravings and I don't eat them much anyway), brown rice , real stone ground ww bread, legumes, Kashi cereal, etc. I have to really restrict the fruit and types of. Hopefully, I will not veer too far off. I just can't look at another egg or steak. ![]()

Kay,
Thanks for all of the great research you did on the product and for sharing. As far as I can remember, drinking the Hood's didn't adversely affect my or others' weight loss, so I'm not worried about drinking it myself when upping carbs, even with the change in the amount of net carbs. I'm guessing it couldn't be any worse than the natural sugars in some fruits.??? Missrubi, I understand the feeling of being tired of eggs and steak as I went through that a couple of decades ago myself. I was telling a friend just the other day that I got so sick of eating eggs that for a LOOONNNGGG time I just could no longer eat any eggs--NONE. I've never tried it but I've heard that Sugar Busters is a good plan so if that works for you--Great! I think that my favorite plan of all time--for me--is the Lean for Life plan and there is a thread on that on the LowCarb forum. I switched to Atkins because I prefer the taste of full fat rather than low or no-fat products. I will probably end up at some time taking the best of both plans and do more of my own thing--and there's certainly nothing wrong with that. Hi Sunnigirl!
