7 layerd salad ok for Induction?

A lady made some at our church yesterday and I wanted to be sure of the hidden carbs. Maybe carb in the peas??? Or the mayo that is used? I seriously want to make some for myself this week so I can have it for my lunches. What do you guys think? Is this an induction friendly choice?

Depends on the recipe...I'm not familiar with it.

Peas are not induction acceptable. The mayo? Depends on what kind of mayo it was, too.

Thanks BrookJay for responding. Also....your melting page is a total inspiration to me!!!! You look amazing! I hope to acheive that kind of success as well. I lost 40lbs on Atkins before I got pregnant with my son...now I have doubled that amount to lose. Any pointers is greatly appreciated.

They way our family makes 7 layer salad there is a tsp of sugar in the mayo to thin it and make it spread farther. When i make it now i substitute splenda.
Yummy salad isnt it? Good luck.

Toinel- Thanks ! Our beginning stats are almost identical. I weighed in at 234 at my heaviest, but the day I started Atkins (5-4-02) I weighed in at 229. All I can tell you is that it's totally doable!

I don't know if you spotted the page linked on my melting page titled "random thoughts", but I wrote out a bunch of stuff there that you might be interested in.

And please! What's a 7 layer salad?? LOL

When I use to make my 7 layer salad I used to put in ice burg lettuce(1 head),ranch dressing(alot of it),onions, peas, boiled eggs, bottle of bacon bits, bag of shreaded cheese. I cannot eat that on induction. Maybe her's was made different. No recipe is exactly the same we tend to tweak it to fit our taste.

Thanks Guys! I think I will just take out the peas and substitute splenda for the sugar in my mayo/sour cream mixture. The recipe I have is..

Shredded iceberg lettuce
16oz of Sour cream
1cup of Mayo
2tbsp of sugar (splenda)
sliced red onion
peas (I'll omit these in mine)
shredded cheese
Bacon bits

BrookJay: 7 Layer Salad has been around for ages and theres many versions of it. It's actually listed on in the recipe room. Try it...it's yummy!!

That's according to their recipe. I don't have all of the extra's in mine that she does. Also the recipe on that page has real sugar in it and peas which have carbs.

Like the others have said..you have to tweak the recipe and make subsititutions for the salad to be legal

I second that and if you ever want to start a daily inspiration thread
for people like Toinel and I it would be great.

I look at your melting page often!
