Mine didn't. Haha.

On Facebook, I got a picture of my oldest 'always-at-work' 29 year old son holding a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken and telling me Happy Mother's Day. My youngest 23 year old son did offer to go to the mall to get me the Chinese Food dinner that I like (yet rarely have) and I had to pay for it because he had no money.

I love my kids.

Their birthdays are coming up too. Hahaha.

Good Monday Morning Everybody!!

Andie -- to our LC WOE Party!!

I had extensive oral surgery after Thanksgiving and I survived on canned tuna and canned chicken. You can also do egg and tuna salad. Diet jello is a good one as well.

IMHO, I wouldn't do the chilli because of the tomatoes and the beans (not Induction Level 1 foods if you're doing A '72).

Kimber -- Seriously steak in the blender?

CPGuy -- Good to see you! And yep my DDs spoiled me rotten. Both sent me flowers to my school on Friday (they both live out of state, on in FL the other in AZ) -- of course all the other teachers were JEALOUS!!

tweaker -- Good to see you!!

mamalaw -- I am NOT going to wish you LUCK because luck is out of our CONTROL but I will wish you heartfelt SUCCESS as you begin your LC WOE journey!

I'm over here cheering you on!!!

canadianwoman -- Is it to late to give 'em up for adoption? j/k

Oh I have an evil thought, take a picture of their bday present that you would buy them, and just txt them the picture. That'll teach 'em!!

You all have a wonderful Monday and keep being LOSERS!!

Jo =]

Wishing all of us continued success on our personal LC WOE journeys!!

Yes! Steak in the blender is fantastic when you can't chew very well. In my sandwich eating days, I used to grind up leftover steak and then add mayo to it for a nice steak spread on a sub roll. Now I just make the spread and eat it right out of the bowl!! Very yummy

I think they are well past the adoption stage. Seriously, who would want them but me? They're big, loud, hairy and messy ..... no longer the cute baby/toddler stage.

I do like the picture idea. Bwahahaha.

Hi Jo
Decided to try changing things up to move the scale a little and I upped my calories from 700 to 1100 (easiest way to explain), switched coffee for diet coke and I'm up 1/2 lb! Seems contrary to the book but I have no explanation? I guess my 2 days of heavy yard work didn't help my scale. I did read some can eat a little and others eat a lot and still lose. It's like I eat a little and the scale doesn't move, then I eat more (not lots) and the scale goes up. Is it time for a fast? I'm lost??

Good Morning All!

So I have always gone really off plan on weekends to the point where I usually gain 3-4lbs and spend the remainder of the week trying to work it off. It's been so bad I actually haven't seen a loss on the weekend in over 14 weeks.. Until Now.
I lost 1/2 a lb this weekend!!.. Small amount? Yes. Huge victory for me?? Hells Yes.
I certainly had far more wine than I should have and my carbs were higher than I wanted because of it (probably avg about 18g Fri/Sat/Sun) but my eating was spot on.
I passed on;
Friday – Rice for my Stirfry, beer
Saturday - bacon wrapped corn, BBQ sauce, and garlic fries at our favorite BBQ joint, Our crew all went for ice cream after.. I did not partake.
Sunday – Mothers-day Brunch – Mimosas, fresh fruit, hash browns and Croissants.

I really need to get my wine drinking in check but other than that I am feeling so in control of this WOE.

I started today on plan. Haven't done perfect but not bad for no prep work...shame on me I know. My question is what do you all cook? I'm generally cooking for 4-6 people a night. Any crockpot ideas? I love my crockpot. Crockpot whole chicken is the bomb. Any ideas would be great thanks. Lisa

Sodium! Why haven't I heard anything on these threads about sodium? I read that we NEED to add sodium to our diets when we are low carb. When we first do low carb, we experience water loss (our big weight loss to start) because our kidneys switch from retaining salt to excreting it. Our body can make sodium from the potassium we have or take, but eventually it is not enough. Low sodium compromises your circulation, can cause lightheadedness, fatigue, muscle cramps, constipation, headaches...! According to The Art and Science of Low Carb Living, we should get around 5 grams of sodium. THose who eat processed foods get it easily. I added up my normal intake, and it was only about 1 gram. They suggest drinking a couple cups of bouillon or broth a day. Thought I would pass this along!

It's Tuesday!

Good Tuesday Morning Everybody!!

Bonny -- How can switching coffee to dt coke make you gain 1/2 lbs? That's odd. Maybe you should post what you're eating and we can maybe spot some concerns or problem areas that you may have overlooked?

Cudabear -- on your 1/2 lb victory of your weekend. I use to do what you did, good as gold during the week and then threw caution to the wind on the weekends... wondered why I wouldn't lose any weight cause I'd keep gaining & losing the same 2-3 lbs. Glad you are feeling in control of this WOE. I'm over here cheering you on!!

bluebird & mamalaw -- wishing you both heartfelt success as you begin your LC WOE journeys!!!

bluebird -- Awesome about you moving to southern NM! I live in Alamogordo.

mamalaw -- I don't cook for anyone but my DH and I keep it real simple. A salad, baked chicken, canned tuna, broiled fish or Oscar Meyer Deli-Fresh Smoked ham. I usually make a carby side dish for the DH and he even lost 20 lbs since I started this... My lil' dog (who weighed 12lbs) lost 2 lbs at his last vet app because he's not getting any carb crap scraps (say that 3x fast!! ). I call it colateral dieting!!

Parmesan cheese would be fine but remember to keep it between 3-4 oz a day. Most packaging says 0 carbs, but all cheese have some carbs. MtherGoos can probably tell you how much since she is our cheese expert.

better -- WOW 5 grams, that's almost double what's recommended. That's a heck of a lot of salt! Here's what I found:
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recommends that individuals consume no more than 2,300 milligrams (2.3g) of sodium per day & The American Heart Association recommends consuming less than 1500 mg (1.5g) of sodium a day.

/4 teaspoon salt = 575 mg sodium
1/2 teaspoon salt = 1,150 mg sodium
3/4 teaspoon salt = 1,725 mg sodium
1 teaspoon salt = 2,300 mg sodium

Let me know if you find a broth or bouillon that doesn't have any carbs -- cause I have not been successful!

You all have a wonderful day and keep being LOSERS!!

Jo =]

Wishing all of us continued success on our personal LC WOE journeys!!

How about one pound now!!
I actually thought the diet coke would be the lesser of two evils. Everyday is:
B: 1-2 coffee w/Silk/Stevia
L: 2-3 eggs boiled w/mayo or scrambled in butter
D: 8 oz meat, bbq'd or fried in coconut oil
then either 4 c of coffee or coke all evening. Nothing else than exactly what I've written, no cheats, no extras... not even a whiff of anything off plan?

Saturday I had bacon and upped my evening protein to 11-12 oz. as my calories were down to 700'ish. Nothing different other than swapping coffee for coke the last 3 nights??? No cramps the last few nights but the scale is going the wrong way?

I've read about salt too. Mostly in the Primal community. Time red that when going VLC we need more salt to balance things as we go from sugar burner to fat adapted. It was recommended to have bone broth to combat the carb flu, fatigue in the beginning. I bet a handful of pork rinds would do it! I have those low sodium chicken broth packets from Trader Joes in my desk. It does have 3 carbs though. 20 calories.

I make bone broth in the crock pot and freeze it. No carbs unless I add veggies. Just chicken or turkey bones in the crockpot for 12-24 hours. I often use turkey necks, then get to eat the meat too.

I'm still sitting at 149. Need to stir things up. Yesterday 1058 calories, 12 carbs, 1 fiber. That should be good enough to get off this set points but it's not!

Bonny, have you tried eating breakfast? It's hard to believe you're not losing on the little that you eat. Been there, done that. I get it! I'm so sorry.

Hi guys! Just time for a quick note, but Jo, I love your picture! You look AMAZING!

Bonny, I think you need to just ride it out. Don't tweak anything, just be patient. It happens to me all the time. Just keep doing what you're doing and it will come back down, and take more with it.

Afternoon Folks,
Last10: I thought Atkins mentioned salt use in the book too; can't remember exactly where
mamalaw: that site BonnyJean is great. You might want to also check out the food porn & slow cooker threads here on the forum
Not much else to report. Have stumbled into WOE confusion land again. One of the books I'm reading is talking about calories in/out. Geez, you can't win.
I'll have to re-read chapter 8 just to see what the Dr has to say

Bonny, it could be, but I don't think I'd worry about it yet. It may not be. My weight bounces around all the time. I would wait a week or so, be patient, and see what happens. You may tweak things, and you may lose, but it may not have had anything to do with your tweak, it was just time for a drop. You know what I mean? I just would give it a little time.

PaleoGuy, I think the general consensus is that calories count, but we don't have to count calories. If you're not losing, then definitely take a look at your overall consumption and see where you're at and if you need to be eating less. But if you're losing OK, you don't have to make it more complicated by worrying about calories unless you really want to.

Just a quick check in.
Today's weigh in - 291.5.
Went to the Longhorn Steakhouse and had the stuffed mushroom starter, a Caesar salad and 1/2 of my 18oz ribeye steak. All very yummy but way too many carbs--- I'm really hungry today!!

Wondering about different types of meat

Hi everyone I have officially restarted Atkins 72 yesterday and I'm waiting for my book to arrive. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to put the weight tracker on my profile. I also wanted to know based on experience does the type of protein you eat affect how fast or slow you lose weight.

Hi everyone. One week on Atkins 72. Total loss for the week is 4.2 pounds. Any ideas how to drop more than that. I thought one could lose more ? I am very happy with that number but was just wondering. I am eating clean.
