Nurse: I hear you. It is called food addiction. I have it bad. I feel great when on plan. When I cheat or break I feel bad, not because I cheated but because I just feel bad from carby sweet foods. It is not easy but it is worth it. Stick to the plan and give it a chance and watch your whole world change. 39 days ago I could barely walk a mile. Now I am down 28.2 pounds and ran 6 miles this morning. This plan works. You do not have to exercise to lose weight on this plan, let me make that clear. But if you are able to just walk a little extra or move a little more than normal it will make you feel a lot better and burn up stored carbs faster. Good luck.

Nurse, don't beat yourself up over it. We've ALL been there! We all understand. Sometimes it can be so hard, and it makes NO SENSE, because we all know we feel better eating this way, but, as Kemp said, it is an addiction. Just get right back on track. It really does help me to immerse myself in these boards when I'm trying to get my head back in the game, or when I'm feeling weak. Read and post a lot, and just keep moving forward, one day at a time.

WOW! There is so much activity on this thread!!! Glad to see all the new faces

Well, I have been super busy these past two weeks, and I have missed this thread!

I did eat more LC veggies and treats for Thanksgiving and while on the road than normal, but overall I stayed right on course! THAT is the biggest miracle for me!

So my weight has been bouncing around since we got back into town Sunday morning, but I am not worried about it. The plan now is just go back to the 1st week level carbs and stay there a while.

I hope everyone has a great day and wonderful start to December!

My menu today:

B: 2 HB eggs, bacon, coffee with CO
L: Hamburger with cucumbers dressed with olive oil vinaigrette
D: Pork steak and 1C lettuce with vinaigrette dressing and a few GREEN olives.

Lady, that hamburger sounds delish! I have never ate a hamburger patty with cucumbers. Next time I will. I am down to 174.8 now finally back to pre-weight prior to TG. I had gone up 4lbs even though I stayed LC, I ate 23net carbs TG day. My CCL is 15net or 20total. Bad, Bad, Bad...but I wasn't even thinking about the amount of food I was eating, just okay well it is LC.

I have the book and I started '72 today. I am stalled just outside the gates of Onederland and this is my strategy to finally burst through them.
I have been searching for the book for a while and finally found it at a thrift shop.
I am thrilled to see activity on this thread.
Fingers and toes crossed.

Thank you! I keep it pretty simple, and I get on kicks where I eat the same thing over and over until I'm tired of it, then I switch it up. Right now I usually eat some eggs and cheese for breakfast, for lunch I'll have maybe some egg salad or tuna salad, or hamburger mixed with cheese. For dinner I usually have a steak, or pork steak, or hamburger. If I'm hungry for a snack I usually have a little bit of extra sharp cheddar cheese. That's it. I'm rarely hungry, but if I am, I'll eat more. I just make sure it's on plan.

One more try

Thought I needed to introduce myself. I'm Linda 53 years old ,chronic yo yo dieter, compulsive overeater.

I had tried atkins about 15 years ago and lost weight but my disease got the best of me and I overate. Started eating too much legal foods.

Now I have been told I am prediabetic . I do not want to end up on meds ! I know the only way I am going to know how many carbs I can handle is to start at near zero, and slowly add.

I am on day 3 of induction. I have been low carb for several weeks but not low enough to lose. I have learned so much by reading this board. I just ordered Atkins 72 on eBay so I have that as a reference. should I log my food intake somewhere?

Today I had 2 eggs 3 slices bacon, 5 oz cheeseburger 1 c salad with 2Tb homemade sf mayo.half Can of tuna with 1/2T evoo for morning and evening snack. Having cup of tea with 1T HC . Trying to think of something for dinner.

Linda

welcome Lase and Losinit!

Lase, I would definitely log everything you eat and drink. I use an online tracker as it tells me total and net carbs and percentages of everything. It really helps to look at what you have been eating when you stall or gain. Hopefully you will do okay with the tuna. For some reason tuna stalls me.

So far so good. I have been having Bullet Proof Broth in the morning. The salt in it keeps leg cramps at bay and it is really satisfying. ( I integrated the idea from other research.) I think Robert would forgive me as it still meets his guidelines.

D-zerta was a sugar free low cal gelatin so yes it could be substituted with sf jello. D-zerta also made a sf whipped topping. Heavy whipping cream whipped up would be a substitute for it.

Welcome Shelia and Belle: Glad you found us and ask any questions. Missy Dee is super smart and I learn a lot from her.

I broke the 30 pounds barrier today. Down 31 pounds in 44 days. That is even with a 7 day stall and a cheat weekend. Also 1 day of drinking at a tailgate party. So overall very happy with results. The fact I feel great and am so much more healthy is awesome also. Thanks guys for the support.

My stats

Good morning ,

Yesterday was day 4 of induction.
I ended the day at 1695 cal, 141gm fat,12gm carbs, 84 gm protein.
Is this what the ratio should look like?

Thanks for the support!!

Linda

Linda: Great job sticking with it. After about 1-3 more days you will really start to notice the energy coming back and overall feeling great. Be sure to eat till full. Do not worry at all about calories the first 2 weeks or so. Eat when hungry and eat till full and eat all day. I try and snack all day to keep my metabolism up. It also keeps me from being tempted to eat other bad things. Again good luck and keep us posted. I do not know the ratios but sure someone will answer that ASAP.

Miracle rice

Thanks Kemp!
Everywhere I look the miracle noodles have zero carbs. Does anyone have experience with these? I love to use the miracle rice and make fake rice pudding

Linda, your ratios look good. I always try to keep my fat at 1.5x the protein. As for the miracle products, I don't know much about them. They both have the same three ingredients - Purified water, konnyaku (glucomannan), calcium hydroxide. I personally would Not use it because of the calcium hydroxide - pulled up google research on it
  • "An inexpensive alkali, calcium hydroxide's commercial uses are seemingly limitless; it can be found in whitewash, mortar, plaster, cement and other construction materials, not to mention cleaning solvents, pigments, water paints and varnish. Calcium hydroxide is also used in treating sewage, water and industrial wastes, and it plays a key role in the manufacturing of leather, petroleum and rubber.

Warnings

  • Calcium hydroxide is poisonous and can prove fatal if ingested; it can also severely irritate the eyes, skin and respiratory tract."

Kemp Awesome wt loss!!!!

I am down 2 lb this morning and thrilled. ( Dreams of onderland dancing in my head.)
I just logged todays menu on a tracker.
F 73% (112gm)
C 2% (6gm)
P 25% (83 gm)

Glad to hear about the sf jello/d-zerta sub opinion. I have been ending my day with it and 4 tsp of whipped cream. (I shake the cream up in a glass jar sooooo easy to do.)
I skip any cream in my coffee just to have this. On one hand I hate eating artificial coloured and sweetened stuff but at this point, I need the crutch and It seems to keep me on track.
I have been stalled for months so this a 2 lb change on the scale feels so good.

Any thoughts / comments are appreciated.
Belle

I noticed that Jimmy and Dana feature some recipes with Miracle noodle in their fat fast book.
I tried those noodles a few years back and couldn't hack the fishy smell even with rinsing etc. It just wasn't for me.

Thank You, thank , thank you for this thread!!!

I have been trying to do 72 for months now (trying harder at times....other times.....well....) Even though I read the book I keep 'thinking' that I remember what is allowed and what isn't only to find that I was totally wrong... I LOVE the clear and concise gist of it on here and feel encouraged that maybe this time I can make some progress!!! Thanks again

Thanks MtherGoos.....you are so right, there is power in numbers and this certainly takes the support and encouragement of those who know what it's like.....important lesson this evening.....enter food into food diary BEFORE you eat it!! Who would have known that the beautiful turkey breast that I added to my 1 cup of salad would have that many carbs....pawned it off on my husband and stated over with sliced ham....much better numbers!

I am craving something sweet . I drank some crystal light but I think that made the craving worse.
I bought a bunch of club soda with a few lemons to make a nice drink on ice that won't do whatever the crystal light did to my system. I am going tokick back with a drink of club soda now and will look at my food log tomorrow . It may need a tweak ...maybe even up the fat .

Belle: My sweet tooth is as big as Texas!!! It takes about 2 weeks to get off sweets but it is so worth it if you want to try it out. I eat no sweets of any kind. If I eat a SF jello or candy it just makes me crave it even more. My next sweet will be when I hit vacation on Dec 30th. And even then I may abstain. The sweetest thing I eat is bacon. I do cheat rarely and when I do I still try and avoid sweets. Best of luck.
