There is a low sugar ketchup you can get if you really have to have it. I think it has1 carb per tablespoon. You've just got to focus on all the great food you CAN have, rather than all the things you can't. Try different types of meat, try dipping them in butter, or blue cheese. There are so many great choices that there's no reason for you to get bored with it.

Yeah I would go over board with the ketsup , better for me not to have it at all lol. That's why i won't get cream or even the sugar free creamers, I guess I would rather have none than a tsp bc a tsp would probably become a half of cup, would set myself up for failure and I won't allow that to happen. Not a fan of blue cheese either, physically I am hungry but my mouth doesn't want anything in it, I might have to try butter with my meat, will probably just go with cheese tonight, I have never seen my body reject cheese, hopefully tomorrow my body will be more cooperative-I know all this sounds completely idiotic lol..too bad sausage has to be so processed, probably why I like it full of all the bad stuff.

That's funny you mentioned that was just talking to my mom and she said years ago she would make her own, time to find some recipes !!

Okay so I picked up our family dollar version on sweet n low sitting on our table looked at nutritional facts, and it says under one gram of sugar...really there is sugar in sweet n low...?! I haven't been using it, but was still amazed

Oh I forgot to update this morning, mom has been on plan 12 days and has lost 13 pounds!
She hit the 240s today, so proud of her!!!! I really didn't think she had it in her to give up sugar, she's a rockstar! Although she does occasionally talk about a chocolate malt, I just try to remind her what it would do to her breathing.

Finally found something that didn't turn my stomach..bacon! It really hit the spot too tonight. Nothing like some 2am bacon with your mom! I need to try and get some sleep, soon will be 4am

Good Sunday Morning, Everybody!

Bonny -- Imma gonna have to try some of that MiO stuff, sounds wonderful. I know our Wal-mart has it.

jblanken -- Congrats on the 1.7 lbs lost! I don't own a scale that does decimal points - that would DRIVE me crazier than I am now.

MtherGoos -- Exercising is so overrated -- although I do it but I've known people who do this WOE without a moment of exercise and they lose weight beautifully as you know! You have to seriously exercise to burn large amounts of kcals (i.e., 60 mins on a stationary bike at low to moderate intensity = 225 kcals -- of course like anything else, depends on your metabolism).

betterthanever -- I like my old ancient scale actually, it makes me 3 lbs heavier than I weigh at my docs!

reptogirl -- Sorry to hear that you are getting burned out on eating the same things.

I find a little bit of hot sauce kinda gives me the ketchup taste.

Your attitude about having "just a little bit" of some food is just like mine, if I can't have it all -- I'd rather do without!! I have very poor self control when it comes to food and portion control issues, hence the battle of the bulge my entire life.

Maybe this will help: I treat this WOE like other people treat food sensitivities or allergies. I'm allergic to carbs BIG time, they kill the best parts of me, my health and my self-esteem.

Your mom is a rockstar!! Weeeehoooo on her losing 13 lbs in 12 day. Da Vinci makes a really good choc'late sugar free syrup she can add to her coffee if she wants & has no carbs or kcals.

Anywho...today is the last day of Spring Break -- back to school tomorrow to hopefully inspire my kiddos -- Holy Hannah, we only have 27 actual school days left before Summer Break -- where does the time go??

Have a wonderful SUNDAY everybody!!

Jo =]

8 weeks, and total weight loss is 22 lbs. Three days in a row now, I've been down 5 lbs since the last time I weighed on my ancient scale, so I think I can believe it. I'm hoping weight will come off a little faster now that I have stopped forcing myself to eat the extra calories everyone kept pushing me to eat. I'm happy about the 22 lbs, of course, but...it just seems like I have SO far to go, it is discouraging. Bonus: I'm not consumed with thinking about food. I can drive past the ice cream store and shrug at the flavor of the day. I'm fitting back into clothes I had to abandon 4 months ago. I have found a group of people for support. Gotta focus on the positives!

Reptogirl - your Mom is doing so well, she's as much inspiration to me (same age!) as MG, Jo and others. You two must be such support for each other, that's wonderful!

I have been telling myself often that nothing tastes as good as getting to my goal will feel!

Okay Positives: Yeeehaaaaaa better, you lost 22 lbs (better than gaining 22).
MG has a lovely quote on her signature line that I'd love to steal: "A year from now you'd wish you'd started today!" You started 8 weeks ago, you'd lost an average of 11 lbs per month. At that rate you'll be down to your goal before Thanksgiving! I know you can do this!! I'm over here cheering you on!!

Resident experts- do you think some sauerkraut would be okay? We were thinking about getting ribs and we usually cook them with kraut and potatos(which is obviously out) this is if I can find some that doesn't have sugar added...it sounds good and I hope your answer is it is okay lol.
Oh today was the start of week 3 for me, wootwoo
Tonight will be some hamburger patties, I have heard of butter burgers, I wonder how a little bit melted butter on top would be?

Reptogirl , sauerkraut isn't on induction, so it's one of those things where if you decide to try it, you'll just have to see how it affects you. It is really high in sodium, so just be aware that it may cause some water retention.

I was thinking....and I don't know .....do induction 6 days a week, and one night a week have something that is still okay as far as the owl section...just something to spice things up one night a week...would still be low carb...like fix a pizza type casserole minus the pizza sauce...but maybe a few banana pepper rings, or the ribs and sauerkraut would fall into that night, it would basically be a night where I was allowed veggies...
I am just not one that has ever been able to tolerate the same foods everyday, and if I had a night to look forward to I think it would help, but what do you all think?

Oh I was able to choke down a porkchop tonight, courtesy of some butter, I think that will come in handy never thought of putting butter on meat lol.

I have some nasty ketosis urine, not to be disgusting..but it smells a lot like ammonia/cat pee....gross but I will deal small price to pay!!

Hey girl, Claussen sauerkraut 1 oz = 1 carb (who eats 1 oz??) and like MG said it's not on the induction list. I'd be afraid it would stall me -- same with your once a week night. Me, it would grow into 2x a week, then 3x a week... cause I have self-control issues!!

I haven't decided yet if I will do once a week yet, as far as the kraut, I think it's more the juice I need to cook the ribs in just to give them some flavor, but imagine there would still be some carbs in the juice. I don't know just thought,

Today was weigh in day, was down 2 pounds, makes my total 11 pounds in 15 days..so no complaints from me, I need to work on my water intake though..I'm so bad about that.
Feeling blah today, we had several days of nice weather, possible snow tonight..which makes me incredibly sad.its just gray out right now, and I'm sleepy just haven't been able to fully wake up yet. I am starting to wonder if the cheese I eat one day affects my sluggish behavior the next day.

Picked up a new scale today...crossing my fingers that it won't show me higher than I already am. My current scale, I set it on 20 lbs to match as best i could what I was at the doctor's office a while back. I will try it out in several locations and see what happens.
I had a stomach flu Friday, and residual yuckiness Sat/Sun. It was hard to eat much, and today I got light-headed walking up the stairs at school. Tomorrow will be worse--2 flights at a time. Hopefully it will clear up soon.

Reptogirl--I know what you mean...ketosis breath, and stinky urine. Now that I'm not focusing on consuming as much fat, it's not quite so bad, but it's still there.

JustJo--I like your phrase about being allergic to carbs. That really fits. They set me off...leave me out of control...make me do things I don't want to. I need to stay away from them always!

MG--how do you get your chicken skin really crispy? I've been trying and trying. Maybe my problem is that I have a gas oven, and I need something where I can get direct heat on the skin???

Today was my weigh-in day - sad to say I didn't drop another pound as I was hoping. Three pounds for a week, that's good, but I really was hoping for four! Scale hasn't moved in 3 days, I've stayed on plan so it's got to go down sometime! Right?

Better, I coat the chicken thighs in oil and seasoning salt, then I bake them uncovered at 400 degrees for an hour. They come out nice and crispy.

Tweaker 3 pounds a week is good!!!, my last weigh in was 2 pounds for 5 days, as long as you are getting a downward trend it's all good

I ended up sleeping majority of day yesterday and all night, waking up a little before 4am, hopefully today will be a more energetic day.
