Hello Folks,I havent posted but long time lurker here finally decided my health was more important than my addiction to junk food and coke/mt dew. All your stories of success are truly amazing and inspirational. I decided to start last Friday and have stuck with it and managed to lose 13 pounds in just under 7 days! I am a pretty plain eater, and by that i mean i prefer dry lettuce to any kind of salad lol. my only downfall is i love ketchup but i did pick up the reduced sugar and cut down a ton on the amount i use.

my basic meal layout has been
I have managed to cut soda completely, and drink mainly water with an occasional sugar/carb free drink those 1st few days were rough but luckily that phase is over
B-2 eggs/bacon
L-1 cup dry lettuce, wisconsin beef stick
S-sf jello if i need it
D- either grilled chicken breast, pork chop or whatever cut of steak, i have a really nice local meat place that is always fresh right on my way home from work even if i dont have anything layed out.

Good Luck in Vegas, Emerald. Here's one my favorite quotes which seems so appropriate -- especially the last line!!:

“Success is not Final. Failure is not Fatal.
It’s the Courage to Continue that Counts.” Winston Churchill

My Thursday food:

Coffee with International Delight Liquid Coffee Cream 2 T. = 40 kcals & 2g carbs
One bag (5oz) Butter Lettuce type salad, with homemade garlic vinaigrette dressing = 80 kcals & 4g carbs
Tuna w. 1 T. dill Relish
2 oz Pork rinds

Today it's Baked Chicken breast instead of the tuna.

(Boring for some, but amazingly yummy to me!)

Congrats on the 13 pounds!!

Every once in a while I get a craving for ketchup for my chicken breast and I've substituted a dash of red hot sauce (read the label most are zero carb & kcals). Seems to work for me.

I am going to pretty much be eating the same thing every day, too, as some of you do. That seems to work for me doing it that way better than preparing lots of recipes, etc. I have a tendency to overdo it when I do that.

Today's menu:
B - 2 sl bacon
1 egg
L - 2 eggs with 1 T mayo
S - 1 oz cheese or SF jello
D - 3 oz turkey pattie baked with 1 sl bacon

I will be adding salad later after I get started and doing well.

Hope all have a great day!!
Congrats hopetolose (I'm going change your name to Gonnalose -- its more POSITIVE!) on your 3 pounds!!

I agree with you about the simple menu, since I love food sooo much (reason for being overweight) now I don't have to obsess about what I am going to eat -- cause I know the day before. I'm not saying I don't think about food, because I do. But I think about the healthy food I am going to have that day -- does that make sense?

B - 1 cup coffee with 2 Tbl cream and 2 sweetener packs, 3 eggs scrambled with 1 Tbl butter

Snack 1 - 1 cup coffee with 2 Tbl cream and 2 sweetener packs

L - Chicken salad made with about 4 oz shredded leftover chicken thigh meat, 1/2 cup chopped celery, 3 Tbl mayo and 1 tsp mustard (I didn't eat it all - left about 1/3 in my bowl)

Snack 2 - added a chopped hard boiled egg to the leftover chicken salad and about an ounce or so more meat and another Tbl of mayo. Again, I did not even finish it. There is about half left in my bowl.

D - Did not have dinner yet, but I suspect I will try to finish the chicken salad For some strange reason, I am kind of sick of chicken salad...gee, I wonder why...
Amazing, Paulette on your weight loss -- congrats!! LOL @ sick of chicken salad. Just keep doing what you're doing and you will rock this!!

Good morning to everyone.
Thank you so much, Just Jo. You are right - the new name does sound more positive.

All of you are doing so great!! Some awesome losses.

I am down another 4# this morning. Couldn't believe it when I looked down at the scale this morning. Don't know why I didn't go back to low carb sooner.

Today's menu:
B - Egg - 2 strips bacon on oopsie roll
L - Egg salad or tuna salad with mayo
D - homemade meatloaf with mustard
Snack, if needed, 1 oz cheese or sf jello

Hope everyone has a great day.

Have fun in Vegas! I love Vegas. I'm going to have to try the boiled radishes. They sound delish! Not tonight though, tonight we are going to Longhorn Steakhouse. I have already looked at the nutrition info online to check the carb counts of the menu items.

I'm feeling very inspired by all of the success here. I eat low carb, under 25 daily but I'm still struggling with the Last 10. I think I will pull my 72 book back out and read carefully. I see that some of you at a low weight are losing beautifully.

I have been struggling with my last few #'s, too. Lost around 40 doing low carb over the past few years, but quit working for me. Think I was eating way too much. Then I was counting calories but eating too many carbs and scale didn't do anything. Now, I am back on low carb and counting calories. Seems to be working for me.
Think this is just the best WOE.

Hey Last10 -- you have done a wonderful job so far, don't get discouraged -- remember that the fewer pounds you have to lose, the slower you'll probably lose them. But you can DO IT! We're all here pulling for you!

Hey 7littleangles!

I found one thing that really works for me is knowing exactly what I'm going to eat each day (usually the night before -- actually that's a lie -- I know about a week ahead cuz I'm OCD that way) that way I can't make any poor food choices when I get hungry.

I too know what I'm going to eat. Monday morning I take lunch for a few days nd put it in the work fridge. I also take hard boiled eggs for breakfast. There is always some sort of fresh meat, or thawing meat waiting for me at home for dinner. Often I cook up meat so that it's already prepared for a few days.

Partyof7, try to be excited not nervous. What you're doing for your body is really smart. My body is so much happier without the weight.

I would like to join you. I'm not new to LCF, been in and out for about ten years. Originally slowly lost 35-40lbs., and then did the old up and down in a 10 lb. Frame. However, these past 6-8 months it has been up and down in the next higher 10 lbs. haven't been able to get with it more than a day or two.

Yesterday I decided enough of this. I'm miserable in what clothes still somewhat fit and my feet and legs are screaming at me to do something about this weight.

I've tried the "my way" plan. Guess what, for me it doesn't work. I have come to realize, Duh, that I needed to pick a plan and seriously commit to it and it alone. Yesterday I read mjgh06's intro and this thread and knew what I needed to do. So here I am.

I started this morning. I know my progress will be relatively slow as I'm 76 and "quite active" doesn't describe me at all, but I'm going to give it all I've got. I feel so invigorated now that I have finally made up my mind in earnest.

JustJo- I kind of know what I'm going to eat during the week but I don't have a set plan for each day. I think I need to do that though because some days I just draw a blank. Do you write down your meal plans ahead of time? I keep a food journal of what I've eaten each day.

Alex57 - Welcome! You can do it, just take one day at a time!

Party of 7 - Don't be nervous, do come in to read the boards often. I find reading of others' success keeps me moving forward, when I don't come in and get that positive reinforcement it's more likely that I'll stray. Good luck on your journey!

Hello. My day is in 16 days and I would love to drop 10lbs. Think that will help me get focused and back on track for my real goal of 50lbs by July 4th. I know its an aggressive goal but I have a lot to lose so I think its a realistic goal if I stick to the plan.

Planning my menus tonight so there are no surprises. #excited, #ready

Hey Alex!!!

One of the biggest key to success with this WOE, is you really do have to stick to whatever plan you have chosen to follow.

The super part of this low carb WOE is you don't have to be "quite" active. I've know people that have lost a ton of weight without having to exercise -- just going about their normal lives. Exercising is just the cherry on top. I do exercise and I think it's really helped me lose the 120 lbs in 35 weeks.

I have a motto I've created for myself called SEAL (sorry if I've posted it before):

Stay Committed 100%
Eat & Exercise Properly
Accept the things I cannot control & change the things I can.
Live my life to be Successful!

Wishing you much success in your low carb journey, Alex!!!

Yes, Tweaker I have a set plan which makes it so nice that I don't come home hungry and go hmmmmm what's for dinner and make very poor food choices -- I rotate between 3 different meals (not much variety, but I'm Eating to Live not Living to Eat) and I only eat once a day because if I try to eat more often it makes me hungry all day long...

I eat tuna, baked chicken breast and broiled cod. Personal preference, I don't dine out -- I don't trust what they may put in my food (am I getting paranoid?). So I either just sip on a dt soda or water if I have to be out in social situations where we are dining out.

Planning my menus tonight so there are no surprises. #excited, #ready
Hey Slim

I personally think it's do able. You have a little less then 4 months to lose 50 lbs by 4 July. I lost 80lbs in 4 months (cause I had a LOT to lose). Here is my data:

But you have to remember everyone is different on the amount of weight they can lose at any given time. Every pound you lose is one pound closer to your goal and in my book that is SWEET SUCCESS!! Follow your WOE plan and you will see results!

Know that we are all here cheering you on as you continue on your journey!!

Partyof7, try to be excited not nervous. What you're doing for your body is really smart. My body is so much happier without the weight.

Yep I agree completely. I bake a ton of chicken breast on the weekend and freeze it. It's amazing how much quicker dinner is these days! Wow another BONUS to this WOE.
