Has anyone tried Truvia (a mixture of Stevia and Erythritol)? Is it good? I want to stay away from Splenda because it affects my blood sugars...

With Atkins 72, he didn't put a big emphasis on higher fat. For me, as I get closer to goal, it gets harder to lose, so focusing on keeping my fat at around 80% helps to keep me losing. Dr Atkins didn't want us to be afraid of fat, but he didn't focus on higher fat. For me, that's just what I need to do to keep losing at this point in my weight loss.
Ok, what is NK?

Paleo guy, with NK, you focus more on higher fat and moderate protein. I still stick to pretty much Atkins 72 induction foods, but I try to keep my fat ratio up.

Just thought I would drop in here and say hi. I accidentally started doing Atkins 72 because I was losing so much better without veggies. It dawned on me recently that I needed to check out this thread. I never thought I could do this plan but it works better than anything else for me. I am till chasing the ever elusive onederland but hope to be there soon.

Hi cfine! I'm with you, sticking the Atkins 72 induction food list is what works best for me. Just a few more pounds and I'll start trying to move up the OWL food ladder.

Hi all, I have been doing some reading...Have been low carb high fat since January 1st. Lost the first 2 weeks then nothing. I am going to do Atkins 72...eggs, meat, fat, cheese. I do have heavy cream in my BPC. I use coconut oil, butter, splash of cream and stevia.
I can not figure out why I am not losing...I am getting discouraged. Not quitting...just discouraged.
Mother Goos, You are full of information...great job

jlight, I'm sorry you're feeling frustrated! Have you been doing Atkins 72 the whole time, or are you just now switching to it?

Thanks MthGoos; I guess I should have looked thru the FAQ for common abbreviations eh?
I'm doing pretty well the same thing, a little extra fat never hurt anyone

I need to figure out why I havent been losing for weeks. I feel so defeated again but not giving up. I am completely cutting out cheese. So frustrating when I want it so bad. I mean protein and fat whats the problem. I know one thing I'm not one of the lucky people to eat high fat it just dont work for me. Whats left. Today I had 1 cup coffee with 1 tbs of cream. About 2:00 6 chicken tenders dipped in ranch. Water. This is the norm. Anyone have any suggestions?

Good plan. Once you're losing again, you can add things back in one at a time to see what you can tolerate and still lose. I think you'll find a big difference keeping it really simple and sticking to just the meat, eggs, cheese, and fats.

I always start my day with a cup of coffee and hwc 1 tbs.
it depends on when I feel like eating some days I will have
2-3 sausage links & eggs (2)
that will hold me over until I eat again at dinner.
dinner is always some type of meat chicken pork or beef either grilled or paned fried in olive oil or coconut oil.
The one thing I have been doing and it has gotten to be a habit is I take a hand full of shredded cheese on a paper plate and zap it in the microwave and make me a cheese chip. Some days if I am busy I will only eat a meal just not having the time but thats like every 2 weeks that happens. I hardly ever eat 3 meals a day. I think its just low carb not eating as much. I am in menopause, dont know if that matters ... hope not.

Debbie, I would take a day or two and enter your food into a tracker and see where you're at. See how many calories you're consuming, how much fat you're getting in, and how much protein you're getting. Honestly, it almost sounds like you may not be eating enough. It's not something that I think you normally have to be worried about, but if you've gone weeks without losing, and you haven't had any off plan meals at all, then it is probably time to start looking at what could be holding you up. If you've been 100% on plan during that whole time, I would try a tracker, just for a couple of days, and see what your daily totals look like.

Today was the 3rd day of my Atkins '72. I have mentioned before that I had been following the "New" Atkins for a month and did not lose a thing. Well - Today I am 5 lbs lighter than 2 days ago! I KNEW that the 20 Net Carbs called for on the New plan was too much for me. I am just so ultra-sensitive to carbs. And I HATE vegetables! So following the '72 plan is very easy for me. I am sure this quick loss was mostly water, but if that is the case, I had been holding this water for over a month, and the New Atkins was not releasing it - or burning any of my fat. I will be sticking to Induction for a couple more weeks before I start to add carbs back to find my CCL. And the first thing will be...CREAM!!!!! Yes, I miss my cream to the max. My first 5 carbs will be coffee with PLENTY of cream. Not just a tiny smidgeon. (4 teaspoons...come on now...I can't even taste 4 teaspoons). ALSO - I have lost all hunger. Last night, for dinner, I made eggs (1 whole egg and 3 egg yolks) with a Tbl. of butter and I could only eat half of it. I had the other half this morning for breakfast. I seemed to tide me over until almost 1 pm when I had a couple smoked pepperoni sticks. And for Dinner tonight I had a nice big burger patty with cheddar cheese. I hope my weight loss continues. I am not expecting a lb a day, but a couple lbs a week would be wonderful.

I too am missing cream but I'm certain too much dairy stalls me. So I'm opting for a couple of ounces of hard cheese per day. Well every second day really.

I stocked up on meat and eggs today. Cost a small fortune but my deepfreeze and fridge are packed with all types of meats and fish. I'm gong to try my hand at making some beef jerky tonight. I don't have a dehydrator so I'm going to try the oven method. I used to have a dehydrator but it's so bulky and space here is at a premium so it's not worth it for me to buy one.

Pauletticus, wishing you much success in your low-carb journey. I've been doing Atkins '72 all my adult life and it worked for me (except I would lose the weight and think I could eat like other people -- stupid, stupid me). I too am intolerant of carbs. I tried one of the newer Atkins' diet with the net carbs and that did not work at all so back to the ever faithful A'72 I went. I can not lose when I eat over 10 carbs a day -- so I stick to the Induction week and have been doing 6 carbs a day for 244 days (35 1/2 weeks).

I don't do cheese or nuts (they stall me dead cold) and I do nothing processed (well except for my dt. soda).

What's really important is to find what works for you and then stick to it. Are you keeping a food log?

Question: how does a person keep protein low/moderate while eating meat, eggs, etc.

By making sure you use plenty of fat with your meals and keeping your portions in check. For instance, for lunch I almost always have egg salad. I use 2 hard boiled eggs, 2 Tablespoons of Mayo, some mustard and 1 Tablespoon of MCT oil. Plenty of fat, but low protein.

It's brutal how quickly we can gain after a couple of indiscretions. You should lose it rather quickly but keep note of it as it may deter you from eating off plan again.

Yes, Just Jo, I keep a food log. I log everything in first thing in the morning as a kind of "diet for the day" and it helps me choose the amounts and ingredients to keep my carbs as low as possible and helps me to keep my fats/proteins ratio in check. I try to get around 75% fat and keep my protein to around 24% and no more than 1% carbs. I find that my protein can become too high if I don't work out my menus first. That way I can creatively choose how to add extra fats to the mix (add more mayo here, more butter there...). I eat no veggies except to perhaps add a little diced celery to my tuna salad for flavor and crunch. No lettuce. And that is it. I like diet soda, and I find it does not affect me, so I include that every once in a while. I have cut out all coffee, sweeteners and cream for the time being which is the only thing I miss. But I will eventually add them back in to see if I can still continue to lose. I have no desire for nuts, but cheese is something I do like a lot, but I keep to the rules and only add what is allowed on induction for now.
By the way, I weighed myself this morning and I am down another pound! This '72 diet really does work for me. My body hates carbs, therefore, I hate them too. Bacon Rules!!!

awww heck. I think I just blew my day...not too bad though. I thought I read somewhere we could have cottage cheese and I was invited out to lunch by my boss and I had cheesebuger with bacon and cottage cheese. Darn.
Don't the revolution rolls have cottage cheese and can we have them on induction?

Cottage cheese is a little higher in carbs. I avoid it. BUT you had cottage cheese when you could have had French fries, so I would consider that a victory and just keep on with your day. You didn't blow it, don't worry about it. If you start thinking that you've blown it, that could lead to deciding to just take the rest of the day off.

It was still lower carb, and not bad at all. Keep doing what you're doing.

OH NO, not taking the day off. I just want to be perfect...lol. I know it is not so bad. I don't crave anything anymore. I will eat my meat and fat this evening and hopefully lose 30 lbs by tomorrow...just kidding. Even if I don't lose weight...I feel so much better.
Thanks

Revolution Rolls are on the menu list of the 72 version. Not sure if you have a copy or not however, the menu plans start on pg 163
The rolls are made with cottage cheese in that version of the book as well but there are other versions here & at Linda' Low carb for you to try.
I made mine with cream cheese when I do make them
