Cheat Free Days

I know from experience that Atkins 72 works beautifully if you stick to it. But cheating on the plan has become my river called Denial!

I've learned over the years that I can cheat a little here and a little more there still maintain my weight. This knowledge is keeping me from truly committing and sticking to plan.

Now it's time to lose, and it's time to stop cheating!
I'm logging my progress to help stay on track.

Day 2 with no cheats. (down 2 lbs)

I am halfway through Day 5, and in trouble. Someone brought in a bag of chocolate covered almonds to the office and they are calling to me. This is exactly the kind of thing where I know a couple of them won't do any visible damage...but i really want to stick to true induction for the full 2 weeks. I want to break the habit of sneaking little snacks like that. grrrrrr

DON'T DO IT!!!

If you do it will be 3 days of zero cheating to get you back to losing.....not worth it!!!! It's hard to diet but it's hard to be overweight too so choose your hard. Hang tough and tell those stupid nuts that you are more important than a minute of sweetness in your mouth!!! Here is a prayer for your strength over them

I'm glad you put those nuts in their place!!! Didn't let them push you around and make you do something you really don't want to do~~that put them in their place and you are the stronger for it! Good for you, and now on to Day 6...I know it will be a special day for you when you step on the scale and get your hard earned reward!

working on day6

Weight has not moved since Tuesday. Feeling extremely low energy today, the same feeling you get from fasting for a long time. Tired, but good, peaceful and ok. My tummy is telling me I'm hungry, but I don't feel like eating. Keto stix have been very firmly pink for 3 days.

My diet has been only meat, eggs, green veggies, avocado, coffee and cheese. I decided to eliminate cheese last night. Will avoid it for today and see if that makes a difference.

I have been eliminating the veggies...a big dill pickle Wednesday and again today but nothing green other than that. Having trouble sleeping though so wake up so tired!! Took a Valerian Capsule and a Melatonin and that helped but should have done it when I went to bed instead of 3 hours later~~ Ketostix are showing good color although no more than the moderate range but the scale is moving and that's a GREAT thing!!! I just know that today is the day that is going to bring on a great big WHOOSH (something I've read about and so want to experience So here's to a great day and if any nuts come around or any of their cousins, just give them a great big raspberry!!!

I haven't heard of that tea, is it available in most grocery stores or in the more natural health food shops? I'm willing to give it a try if it would help!!

oh for Pete's sake. Now someone brought in donuts. I'm giving those damn things a piece of my mind too. There's no way I'm losing my groove to some lump of dough with a transfat cream filing, no matter how delicious it looks.

Day 7 completed.

Day 8 - a string of slip ups! Cooking tortellini for dbf, I tasted a couple of bites without thinking before realizing what I had done. Later at the dinner table, i'm looking at the serving bowl full of tortellini, and I'm looking at the plain boring chicken on my plate...well, I cracked. I ate a small serving of tortellini. That was followed by a couple of cherries, and later, a large bowl of blueberries before bed.

Post mortem: what I could have done differently to avoid this scenario?
1) If I'm cooking pasta/carby stuff for dbf, I can remember not to taste test while cooking! 2)I can make sure I have also made myself something really good to eat, since the chicken I made myself was very plain and boring. 3) I can keep the serving bowl off the table, so I'm not staring at it during dinner. 4)I can walk away from the table before being tempted by the fruit. 5) Go to bed early before being tempted to snack first.


I got right back on track the next day and the keto stix were back to pink the next day.
The scale shot up 2 lbs the next day, but then went back down to where it was before this happened. so basically, I stayed even for 2 days, when I could have been losing, and also did not lose anything today either. So 3 days down the drain.

So I'm not sure where that leaves me with my day count. I guess I could start over from day 1. But I'm thinking I will add on another 3 day to my planned induction of 14 days, making it 17 days.

those weren't slip-ups....those were learning experiences.....look at the insight you got from them~ we don't necessarily learn a lot from always doing it right, we learn from our mistakes and those are the lessons that stick with us the best...you just keep on doing what you are doing cause you are doing GREAT!!!

Day 11 done. wow! Thanks arbie you are an awesome person to have cheering in a corner! Are you sleeping any better? Is 72 working for you?

I never did very well with the shakes and bars either. They usually made me crave more of them, or just got me going off on a binge. I guess I am susceptible to sweet cravings and emotional eating. what has worked for me in the past has been simply meat and low-carb veggies, and a whole lot of fat. it sounds kind of counterintuitive, but it works! The more fat, the less I want to eat off plan, because it's so satisfying.

daily menu: B:2 or 3 fried eggs with sausage, bacon, fried spam etc. sometimes a big chef's salad for breakfast (it's really good!)
L-my favorite lunch thing is chicken salad over greens with red wine vinegar and OO. Also I love devilled eggs with curry mixed into the devilled part.
D - Grilled hamburgers smothered in cheese and mayo, or a fatty cut of steak.

I did Atkins 72 in 2000, and lost 25 pounds. Then I started dating someone who badgered me into quitting, and I gained it back.

I did it again a few years later, after ditching the boyfriend and lost 30 pounds. Now I have about 80 lbs to lose. ugh. hope I can stick to it!

You can do it! I'm starting induction on Wednesday and in the same boat as you --- I'd like to lose between 70 and 80 pounds.

Is this the 80's Club???

Looks like we three all have about the same amount of loss in mind....of course I probably should lose even more than that but wanted to set a realistic goal to start with.....and Poppie it looks like we have somewhat similar menus except that I am limiting the veggies for now...trying to stick mainly to eggs, meat, cheese and fats. Even with that I generally only lose maybe 1/2 lb per day loss..(wouldn't I love to see an actual whoosh).....yesterday I didn't bring enough food with me to work and was hungry (first time I've felt hunger in a couple of weeks!!) as a result I ate most of my food last night and even though I stayed on plan I saw about a 1/2 lb gain this morning....don't think it was a true gain but just a result of more sodium that late than normal. I did sleep much better last night but forgot to take the vitamins this morning and I think that has a lot to do with it because I get such leg cramps when I don't take them and that's what keeps me from sleeping.....gotta get better with them!! I have done so many different diets over the years.. ever heard of the Rice Diet? I lost about 65 lbs on that a few years back but thought I was starving to death...always hungry!!! Needless to say I have to lose that 65 lbs again now and more too!!
Now, Splesh, why in the world are you waiting til Wednesday? Start now and you will have losses to show by Wednesday!! The gearing up to do it is the hardest part....once you are doing it, it is really easy.....got some eggs? Got some cheese? Got some ground beef? You are ready to go then....join us and let's be The 3 Losers

OH, my favorite snack right now is about 2 ounces of shredded cheese spread evenly on a paper plate....zap it in the microwave for 1 minute 40 seconds...let it cool and then break up into bite size pieces.....crunchy cheesy snacks....better than Cheetos!! Need to find a really good dip for them

So, today is going to be a great day, I just know it!! We are going to easily stay cheat free and tomorrow we'll rejoice in the scale ....let's do it!!!

Ahh, because I *just* went grocery shopping (Weight Watchers style) and my grocery budget doesn't re-up until next week. Tuesday night I will go shopping after work and then it's ON!

The Three Losers ... I like it!

I will be doing mostly meat, eggs, fats (homemade mayo, butter and coco oil) and some cheese. I'm still a little confused about "cheese with the red wax on it". What kind is that exactly? I googled it, but came up with different kinds!
