Understandable Spesh....as I understand the cheese, it is the harder cheeses that can be found with the red wax coating although it doesn't have to have the red wax.....just the types of cheese that can have it....so we will patiently await Wednesday when you join us and we will all encourage and/or console each other as necessary.....

The three losers! Lol! The 80s club! Haha!

We can do it! Yes we can! Spesh, As soon as that budget opens up, get some things on plan that you really like and just enjoy.

I am noticing the weight is much more stubborn this time around. Maybe age? I'm now 44. Was in low 30s the other times. Well, it doesn't matter, the weight will come off sooner our later. The plan works, i'm not going to stress about it. The scale dipped to a new lowt onfriday, so its working.

Day 12 completed, no cheating. Maybe a little over indulging, with too many calories

Day 13 completed. Day 14 (wow!) I went white water rafting. I was so hungry at the break, that when I was given a sub sandwic, a birch beer and a Snickers, I ate them all. I know I should be feeling down about, but i'm not. I'm just greeting right back on the horse. I'm so tired of beating myself up! I'm extending induction for another 7 days, since is feeling so good. So i'm going to
24 days

Arbie, I think that potassium will stop leg cramps. Its probably included in your vitamin.

I'm pretty sure it IS allowed. It's on my list to buy on Tuesday! Do you ever miss veggies? I was never a big veggie eater, but it just seems strange to literally only eat meat at my meals. I know we can have 2 cups of lettuce each day, but I never was a big lettuce fan.

Do you guys eat your lettuce? What do you use as dressing?

oh yes, I eat low-carb veggies, like cucumbers, all sorts of lettuces, celery, creamed spinach. I like blue cheese and ranch dressing, but also oil and vinegar or oil and lemon juice on wild/mixed greens is yummy. I guess you just have to be careful not to overdo them and bump up your carb count, because they do have small amounts of carb in them

Thanks Poppie....I will pick up some potassium tomorrow!!! We went out of town over the weekend and I was so miserable trying to sleep....easily stuck to low carb until we had dinner tonight....have only been having maybe 1/4 of a salad every 3 or 4 days so thought it was time for some veggies....ordered one with ham, bacon, eggs, cheese in addition to the greens and thought the creamy garlic dressing sounded good....the first bite the dressing seemed a bit sweeter than I thought it should so I asked the waitress....she checked the bottle and sure enough sugar was one of the ingredients...I don't know how much but I went ahead and ate it since the salad was already full of it....I guess we will see when I get on the scale tomorrow.....oh well...I guess the moral is to check ahead of time and don't guess because to have to spend 3 days trying to get back to Ketosis over a slip up like this......
Spesh, when I have salad I normally just have Ranch or Caesar which is pretty low carb.....I don't have it that often though cause I'm trying to keep the carbs just as low as humanly possible for right now...
Poppie, that white water rafting sounds fun! We have a lot of that around here....lots of rivers and streams.....and glad you are riding that horse....you and me both!!!
...okay Losers, tomorrow starts a new week for Poppie and I and we will be waiting with open arms for you Spesh, can wait for Wednesday when you can join us on this journey.... Let's Do It

I am soooo ready!!

Gonna head to Costco so I can stock up on ground beef, eggs, chicken and steaks. Mmmmm! Oh, and cheese -- although I don't think I will buy my cheese at Costco. I likely don't need to be eating off a 10# wheel.

Day 15 and 16 under my belt. I'm catching myself sneaking a little bit of this and that and pretending it didn't happen. Still in ketosis, but sooner or later, this is going to bump me out and is probably already slowing me down. So, I'm going into week 3 with renewed determination to stick strictly to plan.

Woohoo! Spesh is ready and Arbie is storming ahead. Here we go!

Tomorrow is the day! I'm excited, but nervous that I will bore quickly of my menu choices. I need to find the book. Do either of you know if I can use soy sauce as a marinade? I also need to find a way to sneak a little grill on my patio so I can grill steaks. They outlawed grills of any kind. Boo.

Pork ribs? Check.
Ground beef? Check.
Chicken thighs? Check.
Pork chops? Check.
Cheese? Check.
Bacon? Check.

The only thing I'm worried about is the cheese. I bought Manchego which is a semi-hard dry cheese. It doesn't have wax on it, but it does have a brown rind. Hmmmm.....

Just started a thread over on the "Atkins Induction" page -- seems a lot more active over there!

I'll still check in here as well though.

Soy sauce should be ok. Sorry about the grill, that's a bummer. I can't imagine that the cheese would be a problem.

Poppy,
Where are you? Haven't seen any posts since the 17th! C'mon girl...let's hear from you. Even if you fell into the trap and have to start over!

Hello! I'm here! Thank you for checking in on me. Yesterday was day 19!

I can't believe it's been almost three weeks already. It went by so fast. I have fallen into the trap a couple of times, but I'm just forging ahead anyway. I feel so much better eating like this.

Haven't lost any weight in a very long time - not since the white water rafting debacle where I ate a hoagie and a snickers on Day 14. Since then I have been technically on plan, but have pushed the limits of the plan as far as possible a couple of times. It just shows that those little cheats and limit-pushing eating that we think we can get away with will definitely hold up our loss.

On the other hand, I've mastered maintenance now ha ha!

Thanks for the advice on the vitamins Poppy!!! Taking a bunch of extras and also read in the book that you should take 2 rather than 1 multivitamins each day so that is what I am doing and sleeping like a baby now!!! What a relief!! Spesh.....waiting to hear how your first day went.....so excited for you as I know the first week or so is the most exciting on the scale! At this point it seems like I go up a little and then down very little... Ready to see some real scale movement again
Aomeil, you are a treasure trove of information, THANK YOU for that!!! So what do you think of the Fat Fast to get things moving again? Doable?
Have a great day

That's awesome Arbie! So glad you're sleeping. So, are you taking 2 regular one-a-day type vitamins, essentially doubling your vitamin intake?

I would be interested in trying a fat fast too. fascinating.

Hello, Hello!

I'm still here - day 3 is halfway over. I'm a "once a week" weigher, so I won't be stepping on the scale until next Wednesday AM.

I can't do pills (especially vitamins) so my task this weekend is to be able to find some sort of chewable or gummy mulit-vit that I can take.

Tonights dinner will be tacos ... just seasoned meat with butter lettuce as the "shell". LOL

Way to go Spesh!!! Hang tough and let us know how you are doing.
Poppie, yes, I am taking 2 One A Days along with a bunch of others. I am really trying extra hard to leave the cheese alone as well as any veggies other than a small salad every couple of days....anyone heard of "Bullet Proof Coffee" I'm trying that today to up the fats hoping we can see some action although there has been a .4 lb loss each day for the last couple of days...would really rather see a little more daily but will sure take what I can get! Much better than a loss then a gain which is what I had going on earlier in the week. I think my lesson is to stop playing around with munchie type foods even though they make be low carb, they still add up and cause stalls. Oh and read on another board that pushing for 50grams of protein at breakfast will eliminate the snacking through the day....tried that and really had to force myself to eat my tuna around 2:30. No snacking for this one today although it was almost a struggle to get all of that protein down....one of those one more bite and I may get sick feelings but it sure worked.

Funny you should mentioned BPC .... I made some for the first time this morning. It was delicious.

I used 1T unsalted, organic butter, 1T coconut oil and 2 drops of liquid splenda. I brewed the coffee and then put all ingredients in the tall cup that came with my stick blender and blended until it was a nice creamy color then I poured it back into my coffee mug. DELISH!

Day 20 and 21 completed! Yay! I decided to move on to OWL, and boy am I ready for it. I'm going slowly, adding a little bit here and there, and keeping close tabs on ketostix/ scale. But it feels good and right. I have had a cup of rice one day, a cup of cottage cheese dessert with chocolate another day, and you know what? I'm still in the pink and my scale dipped a little lower. I think I might try alternating <20 carb days with about 30 carb days for a little while and see how I feel. right now I feel great.

tracking my days here is really helpful and helped me a lot.

Great to hear that you are doing so well Poppie!! And Spesh, yes, the Coffee has become a morning regular for me, really enjoy it and no carbs like in HWC..even though it has so little, it is still some.....I have basically been trying to do the Meat and Egg Fast in hopes of seeing higher lossses and I did have a WHOLE 1 lb drop yesterday but today .6 of that was back!!!??? Keeping the carbs per day well below 10...usually less than 7 so I really think I should be seeing greater losses.....can you tell my scale this morning put me in a funk?? Sorry....just want so bad to KNOW what I need to be doing but apparently that can rather variable.....any advice???
