New to Atkins '72. Feeling apprehensive.
I just started Atkins '72. I have never tried any version of Atkins before. So far, I must say that I do feel full. I have done low carb, LOW fat diets in the past. So, as I sit here using butter, I feel kinda apprehensive. I mean, butter? I usually never even had this in my frig. Did anyone else feel that way starting out? Scared of consuming fat? :sad:

When I first started doing Atkins, I was all for using butter and eating fat. Of course I was never really afraid of eating fat in the past either. I think fat adds alot more flavor to food. "Defatted" food has no taste IMO

Thank you for the welcome. If I am not trying to lose weight, I have no problem eating fat. I just feel like.. "is this right?", not worrying about fat content while dieting. :) I'm not complaining!

Looks like you have had much success. Hopefully, I can follow your lead.

I know it seems odd to eat all that fat. But for me, the old atkins worked better cause it was easier to follow. Plus it is more strict so the pounds come off faster. Good luck!

I agree with everyone about this plan being easier. All that other stuff about net carbs was just too confusing, so I went back to the 72 version that I used years ago when I lost weight.

I haven't weighed myself as I'm a scale addict and trying not to get on the scale until the end of the month so I'm going by my clothes and they are getting looser and looser..

Guys I like to join you all if I may!! I think the Atkins 72 and meat and eggs I'm doing are almost same...I've lost from 205 to 148.4. With a few set backs...I started last week only eating eggs and meat no processed at all lots of co.hwc.with extra fat..I went from 158.8 to 148.4 in a week.i was so surprized to lose this much as I'm getting closer to my goal...
I do think Atkins is the way to go...

Thanks for all the encouragement. Good job Becky! I think I did well this week. I do not use the scale and I didn't measure before I started, but I feel better and like I shed some weight for sure.. I know I overdid the cheese but it was also TOM, so I am not beating myself up too badly. I did measure today so I will have something to compare to.

How was everyone's week?

Becky ,inspiring loss. Congratulations.
Char, I am apprehensive as well .Other reasons though.I donīt like meat much but after seeing a documentary from the BBC I thought I give the original a go.
To see your losses Char comparing them to my 1,5 lbs in a week on normal lowcarb makes me determined to go for it.And yes I know everyone is different so we will see in a week .
